Ok. Soon as I get home in about an hour I'll run it again. I did root my device, but I kept the original ROM, so I wonder if that's what tripped me up. Thanks again Fuzzy13. Cross your fingers! One last question..my phone still has data..so I didn't brick it did I?

Brick means your device doesn't boot up.

Root will have nothing to do with it.

Now inside the test mode thread, make sure you read the part about having to call Metro if you still cant make calls after finishing the test mode. Usually this means the ERI is different than what it normally is. You will have to call metro and tell them you have data but cant make calls. They will take you into the hiddens menus and tell you what to change if something isnt right.

Here's my update: So it's still not working, but you are right..I should just call metro because I still cant make calls. On the upside I learned TONS overnight and was able to take rooting to a new level for me. I upgraded to a custom ROM (several actually) and even if I dont get it fixed..I have a tester for me and my lady. (she has the same model) Again..Thank you Fuzzy 13 for all your help...and shout out to GBiggie for his hand in all this as well

The LGNPST screens on my computer are all messed up. I already copied and pasted Skin.dll from desktop into C:/LGElectronics/LGPNST, but the screens are still not displaying correctly. The LG Phone Setting does not have a "READ" button, and I could not proceed with Fuzzy13's instructions.

This is crazy. My phone would freeze whenever I needed my phone the most. I had to pull out the battery to reboot the phone. Then the phone would have no service, which caused a lot of frustration. After awhile the service would return by itself. This has happened a dozen times already.

Now that my service has returned, should I still continue and go through the entire process to fix the text mode/restore service? I don't want it to happen again.

If service has returned and your not in test mode then there's no reason to do to the "test mode fix". The fix doesn't "prevent" anything from happening, considering some people have gotten into test mode 3 times within 2 months.

Luckily the entire process only takes about 30 minutes for the ill experienced user that's not sued to it. 30 minutes is well worth it instead of buying a new phone cause this is the ONLY way to fix the phone. Sucks but that's how it is.

Have you thought about trying it on a different PC?

Some people have sent me their actually phone for me to fix the test mode issue. You can always do this if you can go without a phone for about a week. One guy from California sent me his phone and had it back within the same week. But this is entirely up to but the option is there and I wouldn't charge anything to do it. Just pay for shipping to and from. Just another option for you.

Have followed everthing on here but for some reason everytime I try to open the LG Test mode fix it is telling me an error has occured and will not allow me to open it. Is there another fix or am I doing something wrong?

Someone else was having that issue but couldn't get it figured out. Until now, that was the only time that's ever happened.

Make sure all firewalls and antivirus programs are off and try again. Something on the computer is blocking it.

your MIN is probably wrong..and as a matter of fact, i think the op should add a step in this tutorial
"make sure you have your PROPER MIN code" because its NOT always your phone number..in fact the last 3 android phones i had, it never was the same as my phone number.

ive already dealt with it, but thanks tho. i mean it should be a step other people should take before doing anything, that way when it comes time to write in lgnspt, they can do it all right there, thus avoiding going thru the whole thing just to have to go into lgnspt again.
luckily for me i take screenshots of my phone info while on stock just as precaution.

Well other info and the PRL has to be written so you have to open it anyway. Even if you call metro and have them take you through the MIN steps before or after, you still have to enter other info in LGNPST so it really doesn't matter.

Luckily most people haven't had problems so I'll stick with what works

RESTORE SERVICE

--You should now be looking at a screen like this

--Click the READ button down in the bottom left hand corner. Once it finishes, click on SYSTEM NAM1 on the left hand side and you should see something like this, only with YOUR info.


--We are going to edit Mobile Directory Number MDN , MIN1 and MIN2 by double clicking in the area below "Value 1".

-MDN- YOUR 10 digit phone number
-MIN1- YOUR 7 digit phone number (NO area code)
-MIN2- YOUR 3 digit area code

Also make sure you have SOMETHING in Home SID. I've seen a couple people that have had this missing. If it's empty try entering in 6503. That's the one I see the most.

--Once that is done the window will close out, or close it out, and go back to the main screen of LGPNST.

Now we are going to enter the PRL

--On the main screen. Click PRL/ERI beside "UPGRADE".
-Click WRITE. Then PRL. Then NAM1. And select the folder icon beside NAM1 and navigate to the desktop and click on the PRL that you downloaded earlier.

--Once you've entered the PRL. Click START and let it run. Your phone will reboot once it's finished. (If you get an error, try another PRL)

When your phone reboots you SHOULD be back to normal working order out of test mode and with full service. YAYAY!!!

so im at this step...and when i enter in my MDN it pops up a window saying "LOCK_CODE will be changed according to MDN" is that normal? you didn't mention it so i thought id ask ....the MAIN problem im having is the MDN,MIN1,MIN2 and Home SID are not sticking ...after i put in the info and hit "write" it gets like 10% in and my phone reboots so i thought that was normal so i installed the PRL and i have no signal still. every time i repeat the process the phone reboots and non of the info stays ????? im lost now i tripled checked everything i don't know what im missing !!

I'm not sure. I've only seen one other person say their settings weren't sticking. I can't imagine why they wouldn't stick. Has to be something on the phone so try putting the phone in airplane mode to kill the service completely and freeze all apps. That's the only thing I can suggest.

Honestly I have no clue. Being that people have different things on their computer and have it set up differently, its hard to tell. Any one thing can cause something to not act right. You have firewalls and antivirus' turned off right?

well either way i appreciate the help so on my laptop i didn't have the firewall turned off, so i turned it off ...not luck...so i copied all the downloads to my old old XP Dell 16GB desktop (thing is a trooper) followed the instructions for that and still the same thing 10%-14% it reboots....

so its my phone right? now im wondering its its maybe my ROM (#2) or the fact its Rooted ? or does it matter? i have no problem starting over wiping it clean and trying?.. i also tried the ##626* method -reboot same result nothing sticks...also wanted to mention when i click "write" and it turns off and i try it again other stuff i filled in just to see.. stays like the NAM NAME or Voice service (wildcard) just not the MDN MIN SID etc will ....

Don't unroot at any point cause you might not get it back but you can try wiping data in recovery to erase all your apps and what not and see if that works. If not you can try to flash a different Rom, plague, and make sure it's not something in that #2 Rom.

Try those and get back to me.

OK! sorry it took so long to reply ....i tried 3 ROMS and nothing worked did re-install on my computer and nothing... so i finally broke down and went to the metro store today and talk to a lady who said, shes seen this happen before..all they did was update to software back to the original (non root) something about i had ZVB and it needed to be ZVD which is crap cause ive had ZVD, i don't understand this at all i updated the software a bunch of times!! either way it fixed the problem im back to full bars ..if you need and info from me let me know

now to re-root and flash ^_^ thank you Fuzzy for all your help!! :adore:
