OTA 2.1 Has started..

How do i add the live wallpapers into the task killer? Many people claim with the new update their battery life is longer. With mine it seems the battery life is shorter. Maybe its because I need to add the live wallpapers to the task killer.

If you kill the live wallpapers with task killer, it will become a black background. So make sure you exclude the live wallpaper from your taskiller. Battery life should be the same or a little less with live wallpapers. Without live wallpapers, battery life should improve.

I'm still waiting...umm...patiently.

How funny is it that you, the pickup guy, are responding to the lefty guitarist's post?

Btw, they're not reverse-staggered: they're lefty staggered :)

Hope you get your update soon (if it's worth anything to you).

What about pinch to zoom? I frankly couldn't care about anything else really. But pinch to zoom was a big deal in my opinion. It was long overdue. Don't you agree?

i recommend the app juice defender, it will multiply your battery time and tell you by how much (i average about 175-195%).. it simply turns off the data signal or something when ur not using the phone and comes back when u turn the screen on.. ive used it for a few weeks with and without, and it works (saw a review of it on a website today also) even though some claim its a placebo. try it out, free. or get ultimate for 3.99 i think.

If you want to have a rotating home screen try HelixLauncher (not HelixLauncher2). It rotates the home screen, allows up to 7 screens and has 4 docked icons (they stay on the bottom and are visible on each screen). Really nice app!

i want more of these kinds of things for the droid :) home++ or whatever i saw and is awesome looking but it isnt stable i heard at all so id rather not.

Hmmm, I am currently using Live walls and I have randomly killed them in ATK. No effect either way. Still going for me.

ive heard different answers but... does live wallpaper really slow down the phone? and do you get google earth on the update?

thanks

Different wallpapers use different amounts of processing power, but yes they do take some of that power away from other stuff. I don't think it's really an issue when you're in another application though because the wallpaper isn't being rendered.

Google Earth is available from the market when you update.

My friends Droid that he updated to 2.1 can't seem to find Google Earth in the market. I'm sure I'll be able to figure it out, but has anyone else also seen this issue?

I received my update this morning around 6:30 am. Looked at my phone and saw no update then went to text and saw system update pop up. Took about 5 min for the entire process to complete. I was a little concerned at first due to hearing all the stories from this forum but everything is running smooth so far. Phone has never been rooted or hacked. I like the pinch to zoom and live wall paper now. The new gallery is nice where you slide to go from pic to pic. Btw, I'm in Va if that helps.

No Google Earth in my Market and I'm on 2.1.

Also my market forced.closed like it always has.

I hope this update cures my maps issues. I would get force.close in google maps unless I removed all updates to google maps. I've updated my maps again today; we will see how many Centons it takes before I get a force close and have to remove all updates.

Before the update I would have to recover at least once a month if not more, and power reboot at least once a week or more.

I hope it is more stable

well, okay.... I just used the barcode to get to it in Market and I keep getting a page not found error. Yet, there are reviews for it.

Got my update at about 6ish this morning. I use it as my alarm clock, and instead of alarm going off at 6:30, I had a "update available" message that was on the screen. So if you use your Droid as an alarm clock, make sure you have a backup because you might end up being late for work (like I was this morning).

I've not loaded it yet, but here is the market link:
Google Earth v1.0 Application for Android | Travel

market FCs on you? hmm.... I've only had that happen once - quite awhile ago.
And your maps FC too? There's something very wrong going on inside your Droid :(

I hope the update helps those things.

This is my second 'Droid, my first one rebooted 8-20 times a day.

I get no matches in Andriod Market for Pname:com.google.earth from the link you sent when I click the market icon on the page that should take me to it.

The Android core apps should not be FCing like that all the time. Might be time to pick up another Droid...
