OTA 2.1 Has started..

I think that it hits different parts of the country a lot of people have gotten it in the west side and I'm in the west and no luck

Chicago - update arrived this morning. Before accepting it, I checked the web for issues with it. I'd really hate to find myself holding a brick on a long work-weekend. Has anyone here (that has been updated) seen the issues being reported? Slow applications - especially anything involving video, non-booting phones, etc.?

I don't want to accept it until I'm sure that most of the phone (including the phone :P ) works.

Go ahead and update it. There wont be any problems. This things has been tested to death. The only problems have been with those who were rotted and modded.

Just finished downloading mine. Not sure what time it came exactly because I didnt receive any notification sound when it arrived. I just happened to check the phone for something else and there it was. Live walls look really good! Weird thing is the tapping sound effect noise I was used to hearing when typing on the virtual keyboard is now gone.

Well so far, mainly the live wallpapers. Other then that, there doesen't seem to be a dramatic appearence difference from 2.0. Oh, there is now a weather/news widget thats pretty cool too. Nothing I dislike so far.

Sounds real good I just don't. Like waiting alround I feel alone lol hope I wake up this morning with the update ready for me

I got mine about Midnight Central time. I live about 1hr west of Chicago. It's finally hitting the midwest.

Since were in a 2.1 thread. Wasnt 2.1 supposed to add "voice input" support for text messaging? I dont see a microphone icon anywhere on the virutal keyboard when I want to send a text. it does however work when I rub my finger accross the keyboard. its a bit of a pain though because it doesent always work. I was just under the impression that there was supposed to be a mic icon like there is in the google search bar.

I got the update about two and a half hours ago. The notification never came in but I checked for updates and it was available there. The first round trying to download it timed out after twenty minutes. After selecting 'Download' a second time it downloaded and installed fine.

I have the voice input button now in the place where the comma button used to be in between '?123' and the space button.

Unfortunately for those who haven't gotten it there are only three options. One has been suggested every time the subject has been brought up so I won't repeat it. The other two are to manually force the update and to wait. Two hundred thousand people get the update every day and every day you don't get it increases your chances. Small consolation I know but it is what it is.

Ok, I feel stupid now! it was there ther whole time and I didnt even see it. BTW, Anyone else notice that now when you turn off your Droid, the "droiiidd" sound comes on just before the phone shuts off?

Wow, thats weird shaidtan. I guess I got lucky, from start to finish, 2.1 was up and running in less then 5 minutes.

If you want to have a rotating home screen try HelixLauncher (not HelixLauncher2). It rotates the home screen, allows up to 7 screens and has 4 docked icons (they stay on the bottom and are visible on each screen). Really nice app!

My update showed up this morning (near Indy - go Dawgs!), downloaded, verified and ready to install. Odd, though, I had planned to browse the SD card and make a copy of the update file (just for kicks), but could not locate it. Previous instruction on saving this file made it seem easy, but apparently I missed a step. Anyway, it's installed now, and, after fixing a couple errors (previous gallery widget is not compatible) is running smooth.

Anyone else having issues getting live wallppr to work with Home++? Not sure how to get it to use the system assigned ppr.

It just kinda appeared this morning, like an Easter present that didn't involve candy (boo!). I am one of approximately two or three people on planet earth who were satisfied to wait until it was ready.

After I read the initial reviews and perused the official PDF, I was left wondering Why Bother. After the update, I'm still wondering.

I have been using Panda Home for a while now. I think the thing that I like most about it is the `drawers'. And that the main app drawer can be pulled up alphabetically; a feature the original is sorely lacking. Because I decided to give the update a try (I only use 3 screens anyway) I was missing the drawers, thus I had to use folders to categorize my apps.

The first thing I noticed is that the old folders came back, from before I switched to Panda. I could not delete the existing apps, even though they were no longer installed, so I had to perform the tedious task of deleting the folders and repopulating them, app by app.

I'm also one of four people on the planet who doesn't give a rip about live wallpaper, Google, or Flash.

I'm definitely wondering what is the point of this exercise. It is not my intent to whine... I'm just the kind of person who wants speed and stability updates, not pretty graphics or GPSes.

Thoughts?

I received my update at 10:30 last night (West Coast). I timed it - the whole process took about five minutes, about the same time as it takes to normally reboot. Overall certainly an evolutionary change but improved nonetheless.
