Help Question about disabling / removing apps (bloatware)?

I apologize in advance if this is the wrong forum section

Anyways, I recently got my SGS3, and its filled with bloatware from metropcs. I can only disable some of the apps, but most of them I'm stuck with.

I'm not really interested in anything that rooting can do, besides removing these apps that are useless and take up space. I was wondering if i do root my phone, will i still be able to get software updates to it? Thats really my only concern about rooting.

I know theres custom roms and everything, but i just want to keep everything just stock and normal except for deleting these bloatware apps.

Any help is appreciated! Thank you.

What does space matter? Its all in a different partition so you can't reclaim it. So just use the disable button in applications manager.

I've had hit or miss experiences with being able to accept OTAs when rooted...but if you start removing apps or modifying anything then I can promise that your update will fail

How do i get them out of the apps menu then if I cant disable?

You don't...if you're not allowed to disable them...then rooting is the only way

I'm pretty sure you can hide them from the app drawer...but I have not used the stock launcher since like a week after the phone came out...so I'm not positive on how

Voodoo Farm,

I've re-titled your thread so that it's not really root-related (and so it doesn't need to be moved to the all-things-root sub-forum). I've also given it a "Support" prefix.

Cheers and thanks to all for your helpful responses!

:)
