*Rezound Jelly Bean Waiting Thread!

We still have folks having issues with ICS.

forget jellybean i now want keylime pie as it has taken way to long to get jellybean out to us. I read that Keylime pie may be out for the holidays as when you click on a jellybean rom version and then click on that image you will see a lone candykane in their meaning that either this christmas their will be a new os called KandyCane or something like a new nexus device.... either way i say we demand on announcement day that we all have access to every device that is can run on. That is... the day google announces the new android version then any phone that meets its specs can download it and install it. I think its about time that google takes over the update process.

LMAO!!! Are you serious!?!?!

The reality is that phones have a marketable life cycle, followed by a service life span, and the Rezound is nearing it's end of marketable life, in fact it has held on for longer than most phones and probably longer than HTC ever imagined, and it's service life (maintenance updates only) is just in starting and will last about another 1.5 to 2 years. No company (HTC, Samsung, Motorola, or whoever) is going to invest time and effort into building, testing, and deploying an operating system for phones that are no longer marketable, likely not even being manufactured anymore, and beginning it's service life cycle.

For example, the ORIGINAL DROID could run Jelly Bean, in fact there are several unofficial ports of it for that device, do you think Motorola should also supply a factory supported ROM for that device just because it is capable of running it?

I would love to eat my words here, but reality says we will never "officially" get Jelly Bean, Key Lime Pie, Lemon Drop, or Marshmallow from HTC/Verizon for the Rezound, no matter how loud you scream for it, a stable Global Mode ICS ROM? Yes, most likely that will be the case.

Cell phones are a business and need to make money... making a new operating system for a "dead" phone doesn't make money, it takes money away but someone not buying a new phone with the latest and greatest. Like it or not, this is a free market and businesses need and want to make money, not give it away.

I have to agree. Rezound is nearing the end of it's marketable life cycle and practical cycle for us (many of us are just waiting for the next great phone to come along) and while I would love JB offically...I would be happy with ICS 4.0.4.

I don't think it's out of line to believe it could happen someday but the fact that my Gnexus doesn't have official JB yet doesn't bode well for for a timely release. Especially when you add in the Sense factor. They can't even get the vanillaesque version out there.

Wow, I guess it helps to talk things out sometimes:

Jelly Update Finally Rolling Out to Verizon Galaxy Nexus? – Droid Life

Also a confirmation in the Gnex forum of a user receiving update. So the faster this all happens, the better the outlook for the Rezound IMO.
The Rezound will never get Jelly Bean
The Bionic will never get Ice Cream Sandwich or Jelly Bean
The Incredible 2 will never get Ice Cream Sandwich
The Commando will never be rootable, get upgraded to Gingerbread or get Cyanogenmod

[waiting.... waiting.... waiting... waiting]

Dang, nothing happened! :p

Was worth a shot I guess

Hate to say it. Still on GB and loving' it. Using Scott's CleanROM GBE 1.7, rooted. Standing pat this time.

I have Jelly Bean on my tablet and their is a couple features I would like to enjoy on the Rezound. May be the reason I finally root it...

That or pony up the cash and get the Droid DNA :)

Yeah, Im gonna be stealing one of my parents upgrades I think. Ill have to change contract but I must have that phone.

Still waiting...

Hope your not holding your breath, it is unlikely HTC will release JB for this device, and for the most part the AOSP based ones are barely in early alpha stages, probably several months to go before a stable, daily-driver is available from developers.

I noticed a slew of JB ROMs came out last week. It would be great if someone were to post here when one of those ROMs becomes stable and fully operational.

Ostensibly as a security measure, Jelly Bean doesn't allow applications to be installed to a secondary (or external) SD card slot. That means that unless this is reversed in a ROM, the Rezound is stuck using its internal eMMC slot which is only 2GB in size. Doesn't give much hope for Jelly Bean.

Not entirely true. You can install apps onto a devices internal memory on jellybean. The rezound has 16gb of internal storage.

Yeah, turns out the phone has 16gb internal. I confused the RAM with the storage. Not sure why Ive been plagued with out of memory on app upgrades even after blowing away lots of apps on that phone, however. Uninstall/reinstall usually works, but blows away game progress.
