For those of you wondering about a wireless charging system like the Touchstone for the Palm Pre and Pixi don't forget what Powermat announced at CTIA 2010 that will be coming out this summer as well! OEM size batteries with integrated Powermat charging capabilities! Check it out------->

YouTube - Powermat PowerPak at CTIA 2010

I checked it out and don't understand the attraction... Sorry !

Example: I walk in the house / office and set my phone on desk / counter top and plug it in with OEM charger. If I want to use my phone I pick it up and talk "while charging". I can take phone to computer room, etc. I can charge it in there with same or buy another OEM charger for $25ea and have chargers in many rooms.

The cost of this device is more than buying extended life / larger batt. which would lower charging demands but also must be on this expensive pad to charge. You will only buy one pad because of price, which makes it less practical. Will prob. take longer to charge and has not been used long enough to know if it shortens batt. life in any way. I didn't check it out enough to know if you can still talk on phone while charging but I can't see how that would be possible.

Cool gadget, but I don't see the benefit until they can extend range like the wifi charger

What's the price for the pad?

I paid like $140 total when they came out for 2 Touchstones for my Pre. For ease of use, you WILL pay.

As for accessories Android 17 when I get my EVO 4G I'll probably get a silicone case, screen protector, car charger, and car dock to start out. I'll see what they have after that. I'll probably pick up a Bluetooth headset as well.
Do you like silicone cases? I had one for my old 20gb ipod, but it just made the ipod all slimy and gross when I took it out of its case after a year or so. Also, it picked up every piece of lint and made it hard to slide out from my pocket. I think it was an iSkin or something... This was about 3-4 years ago, though. Have they changed a lot since then?

That's cool, I think it's a neat idea but I have no plans to invest in one since I would rather have the official dock with HDMI out but some people with the Pre and/or Pixi claim they will miss the Touchstone so I figured I would show them what I saw at CTIA. Just more information for the consumer that's all.

I can't stand them, I'm assuming there will be something out such as an innocase, which is a pretty nice hard case. Pair that with an invisible shield and should be good to go.

Hi everyone,

I've been lurking for a while reading up on all the exciting Evo news - can't wait. Also want to say thanks to jackson (aka Supersonical here) for all the great leaks!

I Had to finally post since I have something potentially useful to add: I can watch Hulu on my ancient Mogul using the Skyfire browser all day long - works like a charm. Skyfire is also working on a new version for Android, so that should be a solution for those of you who have to have your Family Guy (or whatever).

All the best, & thanks for the great thread!

P.S. Link to info: Android Alpha Program Skyfire

Thank you so much for this tip!! I saved this post to my desktop :)

Does anyone else find it strange that we have had zero video leaks since Vegas of our phone and it seems that the only one thats talking since the big meeting last week is Jackson's guy and one other on the Sprint forum (but don't bother going there...):mad::(

This has the be the most trust worthy group of employees in the industry!! The most tight lipped group on earth!! I need an information fix and i need it NOW!! :D

How can these people have this amazing phone in there hands and not post a you tube video of some of the things we have not seen yet. HINT HINT TODAY !! LOL!!! (I'm off all day)

Did that move anyone to give me a crumb of anything new on this phone?
I am having withdrawals.;)

Ok. All out of Smilies

C ya

I don't think any test units have been released as of yet and they probably won't until after the 16th when the media blitz begins.

so basically they are saying it's going to be 799 unsubsidized :D ouch

Crap, I was thinking the same thing. I was hoping for maybe 599 or 649 unsubsidized....I'm really hoping it gets cheaper than that since I'm pretty sure I'll need to do unsubsidized, and I dont think my Touch Pro2 will pull too much on eBay...

I meant no disrespect. I am no fanboy either, I don't even have an Apple product. I did read your previous posts too and the point I was trying to make was that they should try to advertise the phone for what it is, a fantastic piece of technology and leave the "iPhone killer" moniker out. They tried that with the Instinct and did not work at all.

Again sorry if I sounded fanboy-ish, I could not be more on the other side of the scale...

I am probably a little behind here.. trying to catch up this morning :)

I agree, we should all drop the iPhone compare or killer part of any marketing campaign, even though Jackson is right about Evo crushing it. It just boosts brand awareness of the competition. Our super fast and super capable PCs have done nothing to kill al the Macs out there, which have nothing but nice styling going for them, so no reason to believe that a phone of 100x the ability of the Evo would topple the iPhone fan base.

Just look at that silly ipad. I was in bestbuy and there were 3 display models, with people lined up to play with them. there are plenty of way better tablets out there that can do everything imaginable, yet a crippled, nearly useless ipad steals the show. It is all about the style and cool factor that people buy Apply now.

Only time will topple Apple. The love affair with the style and branding will wear thin in a few more years and they will be a fading memory.

Hey guys good morning to all. 10 days left for the adds and release info to come out for the Evo yay!! Lets stay on topic today and not talk about creating art out of turd.

I will be searching online for any new info. Hope I can find something.

Welcome Kurt. That $800 thing was a wild ass guess. Nobody knows anything in regards to pricing yet. At least I haven't seen anything about it on any of the news sites.

Ok here's a general android question. I'm going to be coming from a blackberry and the one thing I really love about it is the real time push email. Now will I be getting that same instant notification when a new message pops up in my inbox?

Yes, I get audible and visual signals.

I know. Just having a little fun to kick off a slow day. Hanging out with the kids. Thanks for the reply. Only a few days left now.

You'd be surprised at how many devices do real time push via exchange support nowadays. My windows mobile touch pro gets instant notification from my gmail account via google sync, and it works quite well.

wow, the new sprint site kicks ass. If you havent checked it out yet, id highly recommend it. I love how it shows more info about android and all the apps. I can totally see the android market blowing past the appstore in the near future in regards to number and quality of apps

Ahhhh. The last WinMo phone I had was running 5 and it had none of that.

Right now I have an IMAP account, a hotmail account and a gmail account and they all play very nicely with my berry. I just don't want have to go back to having to wait for a sync every 15 mins esp with the IMAP and hotmail accounts.

But is it real time or is it like Windows mobile where you have to set the phone up to scan the inbox at a certain time interval?
I didn't go into my phone settings to check it out, but I'd say real time. When I get messages, they usually come in on my phone first, then a few seconds later, I get a notification on my computer.

I think the OP might be talking about push email like what my blackberry has. In that case android has it over Google sync and Microsoft Activesync. It also mentions an app that is free, but not having an android phone currently I can not speak on how good it is. I guess the moral of the story is that yes there are ways to do it.

you can learn more about push here.
