OK, I'm sorry but this BS. You can't tell if we're tethering without a tethering plan without invading the user's privacy and violating numerous parts of the contract. If you want to get technical I will. The methods by which a user can tether without a tethering plan are extremely effective and look no different than other traffic on a network.

You have no way of telling this without completely violating the Verizon contract agreement. I call BS.

Supporting information: Networking and Systems Administration from Rochester Institute of Technology, Cisco certification, and Java programmer.

I too believe it's BS, but they can tell, it's their network, they can monitor, log and track any/all traffic they feel necessary to 'better the network', however, this same info can be used to identify tethering data. I don't believe it's a violation of the contract, hell, all ISP's are doing this now, they track everything, as long as they don't sell or disclose your activity to outsiders, they can do it and it's legal. Don't get me wrong I don't agree with it, nor do I like it at all, but everyones doing this now and there's no law to prevent them from doing it.

An example is comcast's new url 'suggestions', if you typo a URL in your browser, they look it up in their 'suggestion history' of sites you've visited from your IP and 'suggest' the correct site. It's BS, but it's just an example that you are no longer 'free' on the internet, you're being tracked/logged 24/7.:(

Needz_Android - You must infiltrate this location, Jason Bourne style. A Swiss Bank account with 10 million U.S dollars (NOT to be used for buying android apps) has been allocated to you. Threaten them with an iPhone if necessary.

what exactly is rumored to be going on at that location?

EDIT: When I look at the location on google maps in street view it looks to be in a residential neighborhood???

Alright i got a question before i go Verizon or anything.

Is anyone familiar with government/federal discounts??

My mom gets a USPS discount off VZW, AT&T, Sprint.

She just called them and she called me back, they said that they only give USPS discount for the primary line (i knew this) but they don't give discount on anything else like Data plans, i read somewhere that you should still get discount on data plans, unless the discount is only for the primary line for data plans? basically, can't get discount on multiple data plans. Someone feel free to clarify.

Also for AT&T, once again, no discount for anything like data plans and text messaging plans but when i go online to do it, i can get discount still........

Idk, anyone feel free to help.

Oh yea, and for Sprint roaming. I heard they roam on Verizon towers for free?? my mom said her friend got charged?? I thought you only got charged if your roaming was more than half your minutes?

Verizon Wireless Customer Council

That just sounds so phony... Like they made it up just to mess with us. Next, we'll find out it's passed the Verizon Wireless Customer Council and now has to face the 13 Trials of Verizon Wireless (including the Pit of Fire).

LMAO! Guys, are your references to the Verizon Wireless Customer Council a joke? Or did someone give bad info about it? Lol. I'm a member of the Verizon Wireless Customer Council, and phones are not sent to us for beta testing. We test/review, much later on in the process, just before it is released, maybe only a day or so, usually.

Someone posted a link to another thread last night- the admin on the other thread was talking about the phones going to the council for the final stage of testing

Brian,

How did you get on the council. I would like to be on it, too.

I had a flashback. I remember when cell phones were for making telephone calls. Monochromatic small screens, a game or two, like snake, a few telephone numbers in the address book, big keypad small screen. Calling people on the cell phone was amazing back then. Not anymore. Things have really changed.

SNAKE! God, how I miss that little game on my olde timey nokia...

Is there a version of it out there somewhere that one could download?

I know of one person who had at&t and didn't like it that much as he didn't have good coverage in his house. So check the at&t coverage map and make sure you have coverage in your house and where ever else you go.

I know people who seem to like t-mobile.

I know no one that likes sprint. Everyone i talk to hates sprint.

Everyone else I know have verizon and don't have problems with them.

Have you ever received a phone for testing before it was officially announced?
