LG Spectrum ICS Update Bugs/Issues Thread

With ICS you can disable most of them without being rooted. Just go to app manager, select the app you don't want, and disable will be the top right option.

Well i was able to disable some, but not all the ones i'de like too. Some had just to "uninstall updates". But im sure they'll all come back later when i reboot the phone.

Gotta use a rooted method like titanium backup or rom toolbox to freeze and/or remove system apps.

well here goes nothing. wrote down what apps i have and started the factory reset. hopefully everything works out and i get the bluetooth back.

well all seems ok at this time. when i get a chance i'll goto my truck and see if it syncs with the ford sync. Only complaint right now is watching the battery life literally drop as you look at it. Went to 15% left in the last hour after having 75%.

well that 15% of battery life lasted less then 30 minutes with the phone locked and sitting in my pocket. Also ever since the upgrade the phone is very very hot on the backside by the camera.

There's many reasons for that.

The first question is: do you use the Facebook app? If so, delete it... It's a resource and battery hog.

Second, you're going to use battery life even in standby, but you'll use more if you have updating apps and widgets. So don't use weather widgets and other self-updater and you'll be better off.

Last, use an app like Juice defender to kill your data connection when not in use. I get 1.5-2x battery life with the app.

im going to go thru the phone again and make sure facebook didn't reload the app when i upgraded to ics and did the reset. I got rid of it months ago cause it was killing hte battery then. and i'll check out that juice defender.

Other then that, so far its been a huge difference in the performance of the phone. I used to have trouble texting or doing anything with the phone. I would hit keys and they would not respond to me and then all of a sudden they would all start going crazy. THe phone basically couldn't do more then one thing at a time. Now its crazy fast.

Ditto. The upgrade was a difference of night and day. If you can get the apps under control, you can get some solid battery life out of the phone.

battery life is ok so far. But texting, wow its nice to be able to hit keys and have them respond to you and not get hung up on and waiting for them. If I hit the back key, the phone goes back, not wait and wait and then finally go back. Camera seems to snap pics quicker too.

Anyone else find the phone kind of "laggy" after the update? Specifically when going back to the home screen. Doesn't always lag but if I've been on the browse or some other big app and hit the back button to get out and return to the home screen, it really crawls.

On another note, I can't get the phone to order the apps alphabetically. Even though it gives you the option, it doesn't actually do it.

Can anyne help me out. My phone will not sync with my truck at all anymore. I got it working once sunday, now nothing. Ive tried everything.

what is the bootloader? After i did the upgrade I did a factory reset and the phone sync'd with my truck on sunday, monday it wasn't working again and now its not even pulling up the icon in the phone.

Have you rooted your phone or otherwise changed anything?

none. i re-installed all the apps i had pre factory reset on sunday before i left work.

I just went outside and played with the bluetooth setting and got the phone to work with my truck for now. lets see how it works tomorrow.

I haven't been able to get Bluetooth to work with my phone since I installed stock ics. I don't use it often, so it's not a big deal, but still annoying.

FWIW, completely stock ICS. I didn't even perform an FDR pre- or post-ICS install. All I did was make sure everything possible was moved to the microSD card, and I cleaned caches. BT working pretty solidly. Much better than GB for me.

Completely delete any pairings you may have had previous to the install, and re-pair.

ok what i've noticed now since installing ICS is that I have to goto settings, click on bluetooth, then hit "make phone visible" everytime i get in my truck, let the sync say "connected" and the hit the phone icon on my dash and it will reconnect. This is every single time i turn off the truck. There has to be a way to have the phone automatically make phone visible or keep it visible.

Pull battery and let sit 2 min. Plug phone into 1amp or better charger with a good USB cable (not those flimsy ones you can buy for $5 for a 6ft one). Replace battery into phone while phone is still plugged into charger. If you're pure stock, then the phone will boot into charge only mode. If you have a custom kernel, there is a good chance you will be SOL. I've had to do this myself from my GF using a shitty charge cable and her battery went completely dead.
