Wish I could...

I'm waiting on this phone just like everyone else. My current phone is getting really long in the tooth and needs to be upgraded soon. What makes it so hard is, I could have already upgraded to a Moto and been done with it... But no.... the damn tester had to show me the Incredible and now I only want that!

I'm sure there are going to be those that will complain that the phone isn't up to Evo specs or that the new HD iPhone is so much better. But the Incredible has everything I need in a smartphone right now and it doesn't help that it looks great doing it too :cool:

But I ramble. Back to your regularly scheduled insanity :D

The problem with an iPhone on Verizon will be load balancing...If the iPhone does make it to Verizon, we'll have way to many crapple kiddies trying to access all of the "killer 100,000 ever so useful apps" and degrade the bandwidth within the network. Let ATT keep iPhone and the perpetually fattening Luke Wilson.

That would be nice, we all want to win. I just don't think it's likely. If Apple announced a VZW iphone this week I'll crap my pants. Literally, right at work. I think if anything they may announce a CDMA iphone, which means sure VZW is possible, but it could go overseas (more likely). I think Apple wants to bring an LTE iPhone to VZW and I want a VZW TO BRING ME A DAMN INCREDIBLE PHONE!

Agreed on the announcement being CDMA only, as it would bait all of the VZW customers into that whole "Oooh! iPhone is COMING!" - - not that us VZW customers speculate and speculate for months ahead of a release announcement - - *ahem*

I'm just trying to look at the landscape AND retain my optimism for the Incredible coming soon.

I'm looking forward to the unboxing and the subsequent trip down the freeway at approximately 75mph - as I throw, nay, CHUCK, my Blackberry storm out the window.
 
I don't know if anyone else has thought of this but here goes: Don't you think that by giving in and buying a Droid or Palm Pre + that you are giving Verizon exactly what they want. If they have infact held the Inc to sell more Droids then you will be proving that to be a good plan and they will do it with other phones in the future.

It's just a thought and I'm sure some people thinks it's a stupid thought but thats ok.

Actually, I came in here, I tried to explain that the info given from the other forum was incorrect. I laughed because of what the other forum said, and laughed because of how many times I tried to explain it, but others kept going with the incorrect info. Then, after you ASKED, I explained what you asked me about.

Couldn't agree more. I was initially excited, but as time wore on, I don't know if all this hype being generated over a mid-tier device is worth it. I too want the phone, but the later it gets released, the closer we are to the top tier shadow and possibly the Venture (VZW's Evo 4g).

I've thought that exact thing since October. That's why I'm still waiting. Sure, I may look like an idiot doing so, but I refuse to be a number for Verizon. I'm waiting this out and it's going to be worth it. End. Of. Story.

You are making all kinds of assumptions here. I don't tether.


Someone said something about watching YouTube traffic and watching HTTP user-agent header fields. Sure they *could* do this but they don't. You brought up the fact that Comcast has a bandwidth cap and suggested that this went along with monitoring usage beyond the bandwidth numbers. It doesn't. These are two very different things and require very different resources (both computer and human).


I know Verizon can make a pretty damn good guess that people are tethering but I'm talking about what's practical and what they actually do. Suggesting that they really go beyond bandwidth numbers is what is foolish. They aren't monitoring your YouTube traffic to determine if you are streaming flash video versus raw H.264 over HTTP.
 
NKT, is it hard to seek out testers at your place of employment?

Meaning, is it not as simple as walking to another department/office in the building in order to chat with a tester to gather any info you can about the incredible?

I am considering doing the same thing...I have had the Pre before though...it's a little slow opening cards and the hardware is somewhat cheap...but webOs and the email on it makes up for the rest, and the free mobile hot spot is hard too pass up...

Can you not simply ask them for a suspected release date or will that raise suspicions? Are they not allowed to talk about such things with you?

EDIT: Or are they in the dark about release dates just as much as everyone else?
 
I need to go to church and acquire some patience and then I'll be good for another two weeks...I'm losing hope...
