Dorimanx kernel - Dummies Guide

I see. I just can't bring myself to leave this kernel and aokp Rom to try it. :)

I can't wait till aokp can port what it can from it. Bloody Samsung taking their time in releasing sources.

Sorry THE RED BLUR, but IMHO, the JB NEAT ROM knocks both the GB and ICS firmwares out of the game!

Even with the stock PhilZ kernel on JB I am getting the same performance and battery life that I was used to on ICS and Dorimanx. That is not to say that when Samsung release their code for the JB kernel, that Dorimanx could not work his undoubted magic on it and make it even better!

I can get the same and have done so for ages on jb aokp on Rootbox and now jellybam.

Aokp has just got too many options and customisation for me to leave .

AOKP is great with excellent customizations as standard, over and beyond anything a JKay-less Sammy based ROM has to offer, but for me, the AOKP core apps (eg. sms, phone, contacts, camera) are horrible, which is why I always go back to Sammy based ROMs.

Let's face it, once you have set up your phone to look like how I want it, that's pretty much it as far as that's concerned, and it's the core apps that become the focal point of every day usage.

NEAT ROM, thankfully, is not AOKP but a Samsung based ROM.

I agree with Hawker, for a change, that whilst AOKP ROM's offer a myriad of features and customisations, they tend to fall down on the basics, as Hawker mentioned, in particularly, camera and video and also in receiving H+ signals and some bluetooth problems I have found in the past.

This is why I tend to avoid such ROM's as they can cause more problems than they solve, particularly on a basic phone level and always appear to be, "work-in-progress".

At the end of the day... it's, "Horses for courses".

You both haven't tried the latest versions clearly from the sounds of this.

As I receive h+ signals fine when possible.

Stability is there and about core apps like MMS, phone, they work fine and have come long way and MMS is now theme able and plenty extras over stock .

Cm10 and aokp can't help some things due to lack of open source because of samsung.

I will try out this neat ROM and see what all the fuss is about but I dare you both to try the latest aokp jb ROMs.

Wait for latest RootBox jb which should be due in a week or two.

Edit.

Which version of neat ROM are you using . Lite or full?

I have to agree with both of you... every new release of RR or any of the notable AOKP ROMs I flash and get my customization fix for a few days but they always fail as far as the PHONE is concerned. I do keep CM ROMs on my non SIM tablets because they're strictly wifi and for keeping socially up to date. But my Galaxy S2 and S3 always seem to make their way back to Sammy based ROMs because I need them to actually work.

Maybe I have been lucky and chosen good roms as I have experienced no issues in which have effected me for daily use as a phone and media device.

Maybe because I take the right steps when installing it don't know.

Stuff I use phone for, make calls, text, browse Tapatalk, music, what's app, Dropbox. I rarely take pictures but they are fine as long as I don't take more then 4 shots back to back.

So lucky I'm not a professional photographer :D

So for me aokp is fine and I for my needs find it better and more freedom to do more.

But yes I agree different courses for different horses;)

But truth be told it's been a while since I have experienced a stock based Rom maybe at least 7 months so need to fairly assess this neat Rom when I get a chance to install it but a lot needs to be done on my side since I have to use another kernel and won't be able duel boot.

As I do daily beta testing of Dorimanx kernel and roms. I'm currently testing this jellybam Rom on 2nd boot.

This JB leak is absolutely brilliant in my opinion, especially considering its still only at the leak stage.

You wont go far wrong with Neat (lite or full)

If you do try it tho mate, you will of course lose your dual-boot ability.

Does Dori 7.28 not support sammyy based ics roms? Sensation Rom 4.1 wont boot with this kernel. Rebooted after dorimanx screen and went back to recovery.. what could be the trouble??

Not at the moment for official jb leak.

But it normally supports ics roms prior to this.

A bit of caution to users of ics as people have reported not being able to boot. Most likely due to the vsync patch. So don't install if on ics rom.

I recommend to revert to 7.27 until latest version is fixed:)

Yes, premature indeed.... as premature as yours since you posted the changelog of a kernel which was pulled within less than an hour of release ;)

Ah, but it was available parag1dubey. It was a "premature release" (oooh.. Matron!) anyway.

I've long since retired to be first with kernel news after my almost "tantric" ejacuation of being six hours late.

I think it's the title of the thread and name of the kernel, I always want to call it "dominatrix"......

AHEM! Anyway back on topic...... I hope we get a JB version of of this ROM. (yes lame, but I have nothing really relevent to say)
