That I am not sure of as the first time I was starting new service and the second time was adding another line, so sorry can't help you there- by the way I am near Sharonville. Going to the corporate store in TriCounty is too much of a pain to get waited on.

Yeah the corporate store in Cherry Grove isn't a picnic either. If you read my account of what happened there tonight when I stopped by. I had to wait 20 min before I was "helped". That really didn't improve my mood with the CSR when I finally got my turn.

I've NEVER bought a phone through Best Buy or anywhere aside from my local VZW corporate store or phone sales. Does it work the same?

I'm not sure but if it is like other third party sellers, there are additional restrictions. For example, I don't think you can upgrade another line on the family plan and take the phone for yourself.

Thanks MM!!

On the side note: What are the advantages and disadvantages from buying a phone w/contract from Best Buys/Walmart, etc. vs. VZW Corporate store? Differences in return policies and warranties or something?

From what I have learned from this forum ( some VZW reps on here) if it is w/i 30 days you return to place of purchase. Any problems after that go through Verizon. Good thing is Best Buy does not charge a restocking fee. Verizon apparently now does even if you revert back to your old phone ( this is new )

There you go again, Montana. Nailed it.
Given what we've seen just today, the planets appear to be aligning nicely for an April release.

FWIW, this thread could be a miniseries. I'm east coast, and just happen to be doing some work tonight, but I would probably have stayed up for the MM update in any case. Are we obsessive about this damn phone, or what?
I'm dragging an old razr around, which hardly qualifies as an early adopter for phone technology. The thing is that this is so much more than a phone. While the BB didn't get me excited, and the iPhone was pretty but limited, the combo of Android and the HTC packaging has got me stone cold. I want this thing..............SOON[ish].

Its great to have a good crowd to hang with as the day fast approaches.

We finally got a date.

But does BB and Wal-Mart honor NE2 or do you HAVE to go through VZW to utilize that?

From what I gathered from a google search Best Buy usually will not honor new every 2, some employees at best buy didn't even know what that was, but they will price match just print you ne2 price and bring that in with you.

Yes, you pay full price. Smartphones are about between 5 and 6 hundred dollars.
Oh I know. I purchased my Motorola Droid at my local Verizon store off contract. I love my Alltel plan too much to give it up. It saves money in the long run.

Alright! Preciate that info. I'm just hoping we'll get an official announcement, or some appearance of the phone April 7-12. I can wait. I've been sitting on my NE2 for 2 months now anyways, whats 19 more days?
I've been waiting since October.. I can wait another few days. :)

MM, I nominate you for getting a free phone from HTC and free Service from verizon, now we just need to make them zombies.. Thanks Man!

So then you get the discounted price but it doesn't use up your NE2???

Yes you can do upgrades and alternate upgrades and all that junk the same at Best Buy as at Verizon. Will they give you your NE2? Maybe...depends on who the SM is and if he wants to price match it for you. Just be extra nice and express that you really want to purchase from Best Buy. That'll get em.

I'm going to hope this is one of the cases where VZ sells it one week earlier. That would lead credence to the talk of the 17th that was going on.

1. I can also confirm that MM shared this info with me a while ago.

2. Also, AFTER MM shared his info with me, I did some recon of my own at a local BB. Short story is that the rep looked in the computer and told me that BB is getting 1 new phone from VZW in April and that will be in stock on April 25, with a full retail price of $599. The rep also told me that the SKU and model number listed in the system did not reference the manufacturer or model by design, as that would prevent BB employees from “spilling the beans” on a phone that had not yet been announced.

3. At the same time, the manager of the wireless department at the same BB openly told me that the new phone was going to be the Incredible, and that unlike the Devour, BB did not have an agreement to sell the phone before anyone else. He did not know whether or not BB would get it after, or at the same time as corporate stores.

4. The manager also told me, with respect to upgrades, that BB can usually upgrade a line eligible for a 2 year upgrade, or a 1 year upgrade at the end of a 1 year contract, but cannot give the upgrade price to a customer that is eligible for an "early" or "annual" upgrade. He said that those phones have to be purchased from a corporate store to get the upgrade pricing.

As always, take it FWIW.

good point...but the person from BB says they're getting it on the 25th, so I don't follow the logic of it.

Even if they don't I hope we get the info about pre-orders...I really wish Verizon its self would provide pre-orders. They should have learned their lesson after the Touch Pro 2 debacle

Well, I too have decided to come out of the shadows! ;)

Let me just say this is one of the most important places on the Internet now for me for a month now. Since November, I have been searching for a replacement for my aging LG Dare, but then it was water-damaged and I use a Motorola W385 that is also damaged. Since my contract was not finished, I wasn't satisfied with paying one-year pricing on a phone I would be stuck with for twenty months. Droid was clunky, but admirable for having a physical keyboard (which I thought I would enjoy more than a touchscreen one). I preferred the Eris...except for the screen size. When the Nexus One came out, I decided to wait to see if the Eris would be upgraded to 2.1 when the Incredible was leaked. Finally- prayers had been answered.

Since then, HTC Desire had come out and cemented my desire, so to speak, for the Incredible with its improvements with Sense...although the wait has been long. Since Verizon decided to discontinue their policy of one-yr. pricing with injured phones, twice I have been able to ensure this...but now I cannot be guaranteed this pricing so the Droid Eris was verrryyy tempting. Nevertheless, the Verizon employees assured me I should actually wait for the Incredible and they would 99% make it likely I would get one-yr. pricing on it as soon as release.

*sigh* Well, that story is over! Time for the Incredible, Verizon! (That is, if you want that $30 data fee added onto my line, which you know you do! BTW- thanks Montana Man for the info!)
