True. But I think there are some variants of the phone that allow it to be turned off. Verizon I know you cant turn it off. I am rooted so I just renamed to sound files to .bak.
Someone told me once it was law in the US to have camera phones making that shutter noise for provacy reasons. Whether thats true or not I don't know.
I'm a Verizon customer and am not rooted. There's an .apk I've downloaded and have been using that disables the shutter sound. Search the net for something called "Enforced Stream Silencer".
I've not noticed any ill effects of installing or using this program, but use at your own risk.
Good luck.
There are laws in many places that forbid you to take pictures with a phone's camera without a shutter sound. This is to protect the privacy of the person being (secretly) photographed. Check your local laws on that![]()
I have a non-rooted Verizon S3; if I put the sound on Mute (from the drop-down notification bar), it mutes the shutter sound.
anyone have a good reason to silence the shutter sound?
