Help Help me understand, MMS via stock texting app

Phases

NO LONGER ADMIN
So, some images/pictures that I send (and receive?) open full screen when I tap them. Others (most) show up a little bigger than the thumbnail with a play, forward and back buttons, but not full screen.

The only way I can get them to go full screen is to save the attachment first then view it.

Can I not view full size in the app?

From what I understand is that the stock Message app will turn any multi pics or pic and text mixed message into a slide show. That's when you cannot see the full image by tapping on it. You can test it out by sending out MMS to others, and look at yours.

If you just send a pic alone, nothing else, it will be okay. Text/Pic not okay. Pic/Pic not okay. I just switched to Go SMS Pro like others suggested here and it is all OKAY now. :p

That's what it is, when I or they include text! Dern. I wish you could long press on the image and get the option to view full screen.

Maybe I'll go back to Handcent or Go SMS. I wanted to keep this one because of a couple minor features but, as it were, I don't use them.

(split screen landscape, multitaskign support..)

Bummer. Thanks for the help!

So my wife just told me every picture I've sent with this phone is tiny. So I looked and sure enough they are like thumb nails even when viewing full screen. I tried Go SMS and handcent, no change. Previously they were normal size.

Any ideas how to keep the phone from sizing down?

I'm not 100% sure on this subject so I'm just going to take a stab at it.
What's the camera resolution set at?

Well good thought! But I've used varying resolutions.. it's happening with screen shots and drawings too.

My neighbor has an s3 and is not happening there.

Wife has a Rezound. Bugs me still though. Doesn't happen with my Gnexus my son now has.. And I'm wondering how many are dealing with thumbnails now as I send a ton of pics to a ton of people.

I'd love to know the answer to this as well. I've sent a few screenshots to people and they've been unable to read them at all due to the tiny size of the MMS.

I would try older versions of these apps.
Go Sms 4.37 apk
Handcent 3.9.10 apk
These versions work for me the best, before they got all full of extra crap. Try it!
And I don't know anything about stock messaging app don't use it! :D

I've always thought this was a standard Android thing. It happened on my G2 and it happens on my Note 2. Every picture is tiny.

Maybe this is Verizon thing? I tried it on my AT&T MMS and it does resize the picture but it is not thumbnail size. It scaled down to about 800 x 600.

My neighbor (s3), son (Gnex), coworker (Gnex) don't have this problem with pictures I send them. My wife, (rezound) is the only one who does. But it started when I got this phone - I had my sons Gnex before and it sends pictures to her fine.

We're all on Verizon. Will check with another neighbors Droid 4 soon.

Have tried regular, go sms, and handcent. Not old versions though..

if i get SMS Go and use that, would i have to clear out my stock messaging app and SSM Go? or would the notifications sync up. am i making sense lol?

I believe when I install the Go SMS Pro, it automatically disables the Stock Message app notification. But if re-enable it, you will get double notification I think.

cant you save the images then zoom in full size?

Also make sure you have mms creation mode on free so it does not compress them too much

Well yes probably but we're used to coming in full screen or tapping on it and it going full screen. Now if she taps it it is still tiny, though it goes to full screen mode. Saving it first then viewing it might work, but who wants to do that for every picture you get, especially throw away ones you don't really want to have to clean up after?

I don't see MMS creation mode anywhere.. where is that?

Go into messaging then options and settings its in there. Put it on free

Not available in the VZW version..

Oh woot. It is actually there on the AT&T version and it is defaulted to Free. And I just tried to send the picture using the stock Message app and the picture got converted from png to jpeg and the resolution is at 1,200px
