Lol, I was just catching up with the thread and I saw that for some reason the forum thinks I thanked every single post on page 530... I mean, I was excited, but not THAT excited...

I decided to see if there was anything new or exciting on this forum. I see incrediblyXXXXX got banned again and NKT leaves us with this. Anything else I missed?

I'm definitely excited to see what NKT has up his sleeve just too bad I have to wait until tomorrow to see it.
 
I know I'm going to get flamed and possibly reported or banned (or just ignored as a "troll" since what I'll say likely won't be popular), but I wanted to get this off my chest anyway.

This thread has gotten ridiculous. Many of the regulars post junk posts completely unrelated to phones all day, and whenever anyone says "could we hold off on some of the junk posts?" they all reply with one of the following:


  • "No one's forcing you to read this, and we won't miss you when you leave."
  • "The text on the first page says we can post anything we want. *but you can't."
  • "Just ignore this guy, omg don't feed the trolls."

WTF guys, seriously. I don't consider myself an immature person but from where I sit there are a load of hypocritical folks here getting away with whatever they want because they've got "forum popularity". It's ridiculous.

Could we all just get off the "popularity train" for a few seconds and recognize that 1000+ meaningless posts does not make one user any more important than the next? If the most popular guy on the forum calls someone a f***er (or similar), hey, no problem. Everyone likes him. But if another guy comes in and states his opinion about fake images and says "don't be douches about it" or something like that, he gets banned? Hey, he seemed annoying to me too, but at the same time it seems pretty darn hypocritical.

Second point: what's the deal with all the info being withheld lately? Like one story "has been known since 3/25" but not shared until now, except of course via PM with some of the "thread's favorite users". Or another user who is commonly respected for giving good advice constantly dangles carrots out there to everyone like "I know a bunch of stuff...maybe I'll tell you later." Seriously? Just keep your mouth shut if you don't want to tell us, then tell us when you're ready. What are we in 4th grade? "nanananananaaaaaaa I know somethinggggg you donnnnnn't...." I thought we were all here for a common goal of sharing information about this rad phone?

Finally, enough with the unnecessary thanks. There are some users on here who could post basically anything in the world and it would get 40 helpful votes just because it's from them. "It's coming soon guys!" = 40+ helpful votes? I don't care who it's from, that's not any more helpful than what we knew back in like November when we first heard about the phone. The same post I mentioned previously ("I have information, I will tell you later") gets like 40 thanks as well. Why? Maybe we could save some of those thanks for the posts with the actual information, which would help some folks (like myself, who often skim pages for thanks due to all the off-topic bullcrap) actually find posts with the useful bits.

Ok, all of that said, I'm crossing my fingers for this phone just like the rest of you. Despite my personal issues with the thread, I'll still be here lurking and waiting...

Was digging around a bit, found stuff on the N1, a new netbook...no Inc.

Does VZW really mean WTF in another language?
 
Stoked on all the news. I have been following since november. I just wanted to say I am a graphic designer and that "new devices launching soon" image made me think definite fake at first. But after a closer look and PMS matching according to verizon's online color application pdf http://gondmarketing.com/SF/verizon_branding/vz_online_stds.pdf
the colors seem to match. The red as well as the background gradient use the correct coloring. The only issues are the line across the breakthrough area that just becomes pure white, some crappy photoshop clonestamp areas and the very bottom of the image is slightly cut off.

Oddly enough, I do see letters. Here is Kappy's original pic along side two I have augmented. The first is just a zoomed in and highlighted area so you can see what I am talking about. The third, I tried to make the letters more visible, but I DID NOT PAINT ON TOP OF THE PICTURE (for all you photoshop people, I desaturated the area inside the oval, turned down the luminosity and increased the contrast slightly to make the letters clearer). Personally, I see "e" and "f" pretty clearly, and they are in that order leading to the box. The next letter in the sequence would be "g" which, oddly enough is the sixth letter of the alphabet. Codename 6? Am I reading too much into this?:confused: Maybe hinting at a name: I dunno, "HTC gPhone" or something?:p

What you guys think?

EDIT: Oddly enough the 3 G's (iNCREDIBLE 3g? :p) is the maximum for the space shuttle during launch (3...2...1...Liftoff) Just sayin'. Do I make a good conspiracy theorist or what?

Regarding advertising - two of my sons are huge fans of the Clone Wars. Since Verizon is obviously paying George Lucas a lot of money to use the name Droid for their phones, do you think they might advertise during the season finale of the series? Not as big a deal as the sporting events some have mentioned, but a George Lucas show. My boys are young, but lots of older "kids" watch it also! I think the first part of the season finale starts on April 23rd - the timing works.
Just a thought . . .

The "forum popularity" thing is getting annoying and i agree with most of what you're saying, but that guy did deserve to get banned if he was the guy who had been banned twice before for trolling. I actually complained about these same issues yesterday, but as long as guys like NKT are posting here, i have no intention of going anywhere else.

Wow, that's some serious digging there! I'm going to have to stick with Occam's razor here, and say that I think it's just a coincidence. I'll bet if you dig hard enough you'll find something in there that looks like a UFO or Bigfoot as well. :D

On the other hand. It's pretty entertaining to watch the process, so if you keep digging I'll keep reading about it! :)
