Still No Update?

Well, I just spent another few hours today with Virgin and HTC on the phone.

The rep at Virgin thinks the most updated software for our phones is 1.13xxx. She was very difficult to understand but I gave her a phone number that has the update, and a phone number without the update; and she claims both are 1.13xxx which isn't true. Maybe her database just states all EVO V 4Gs have 1.13xxx and their notes aren't updated yet, which wouldn't surprise me. She then gave me this bs that she is going to push the update to the phone, but I needed to turn it off and turn it back on. She then has me do an "update profile" and asked me to now check the software version (like that would have changed). It was a stupid call.

I then contacted HTC on the phone and spoke to a man that I could understand a lot better. In a nutshell he told me to turn auto sync off and manually change the date on the phone to a month later. Unfortunately after several restarts and attempts that didn't give us the update. I told him the worries we have here on the forum and he contacted his escalations department. They have no notes, messages, alerts, nothing that confirms the update is halted and should keep trying the update for another 48 hours. After that to call back.

So, I encourage everyone having issues receiving the update to call HTC at 866-449-8358. We need to find away over this stonewall

I also asked him if I should attempt contacting Google, and he said they would just refer me back to HTC

I still havent got this update.. Im rooted and software number is 1.13.655.2 710RD. How do i get this update? Please HELP

Good work! Thanks for the info.

This is pretty weird. I'm not 100% sure, but I think my update was 17.xx mb.

Yes, you're correct. I'm not sure what the difference was but both versions that came out about the same time had the same software and baseband version

Just a reminder, some phones that have received the ota update still shows the 1.13.xx release for some reason, the important part is to make sure that your baseband(radio) shows the 1.09.00.0706 update.

It's been more a matter of principle for me lately but I think I'm just about ready to give to up and root. I've been more excited about that idea since reading these forums anyway. And the HTC tech I'm in email contact with wants me to mail my phone to them so they can put the update on. Ha! I very nicely told them to stuff that option and tell me what it is about my phone that makes it ineligible for a standard OTA update that most others have received. Don't think I'll even get that answer. I'm still planning one more call to escalations sometime this week.

Keep me in the loop. Sounds like you're doing better than me. I would happily send to htc if they or virgin send a loaner phone

I'm with you on principal. I can't accept this bs

She did not offer a loaner phone...perhaps they will but I doubt it. What have they told you? Just to suck it up?

I got an email this morning stating, unfortunately it is possible that the update may no longer be available for download due to the time that has passed since its released. Over the air updates can only be pushed out for a limited period of time.

And are apparently only available to a limited set of phones. Our phones aren't special enough.

When my pair of new phones come in, it will be interesting to see if they are already up-to-date, since they claim we can't update them now. I'll probably root them and update them myself anyway, but that would really be fubar if you can't update a new phone because you waited to long!

Cool. Let us know

What about the people that bought their phone on black Friday or cyber Monday. I guess they are SOL too.

I started to smell a rat when I returned to stock in early december. I waited 3 weeks for the update and kept reading of false promises from CSRs. Its been my experience with all technology CSRs that if they cant produce (99%) of the time they send the caller on a runaround that always involves 'just waiting a little longer'. Then the promised update never happens.

I finally went S-OFF and it WAS painless. I manually installed the update and got on with using the phone as I wanted.

As its NYD, what better way to spend your free time than going S-OFF? ;)

Purchased my phone on Dec 9. Had about given up on getting this update but it was available this morning.

Bought my phone on Black Friday and activated the next week. Update notification just played today. I will update later today on a local network and see how it goes.

They came in today, no update out of the box, but I did it in settings, and my went up to 1.09.00.0706 so all is good. Now for some rooting around:itsme:

This is a very cool phone, even if there's some work to do to make it a great phone.
