i went and got a droid today to play with for a few weeks, i just can't wait i need something to take my mind off of that damn phone. when i was getting it i told the girl it was being released on the 29th at best buy so i assumed it would be released around the same time in the corporate stores too. she said not always that best buy could be getting it sooner. are we pretty sure verizon will have it by the 29th? or at least the next week after, i think i have til the 7th or 8th. thanks

So this doesn't have a whole lot of new information, but I let my fingers do the walking a little bit and I called Best Buy's 800 number and then Verizon's Customer Support and the jyst of the conversations was this:

Best Buy is openly talking about the Incredible and the guy I spoke with was eagerly awaiting the launch of both it and the nexus one to compare. He said he was unaware of any specific launch date (29th) when I inquired about pre-ordering the phone. He said that their policy is not to take any orders until Verizon officially announces the phone. The phone is definitely out there though, and he suggested I contact Verizon to see about the phone (go figure... I'm sure that's official policy. Just pass them back and forth).

Verizon basically gave me the same song and dance as usual. I'm certain that this is because VZW as a company chooses to keep their employees in the dark for their own reasons. The one piece of information I was able to glean from this conversation that I thought was particularly useful was that the rep that I spoke to very clearly stated that Verizon "almost always" launched their phones a week or two after third party stores and small VZW stores. I suppose that would be to generate business on the lowest levels possible early on since once the word gets out and the phones are in high demand, the large stores will end up moving the product fastest and therefore get most of the merchandise, leaving the small stores out to dry.

Anyway, that's my bit. The 29th looks like the day (maybe the 25th, I guess) and Verizon will follow with their own launch a week later, I would guess. I'm thinking the Best Buy guy I spoke to was confused about Verizon's "launch". From what I can gather, Verizon will give the "official green light" for merchandisers to release their ad campaigns on a given day and at that point, we'll have an official launch date via the third party retailers.

(Here's hoping that this is found useful to at least a couple of you. I know it's not much, but I've been on this forum for a while now and I'd like to actually contribute instead of leeching information the whole time.):)

Oh, and User Guide.

Did we ever get her name? I am gonna reach out to her.

Specs finally released! I am trying to catch up, and this has probably been answered already but I have not found it yet. Does the Incredible have the dual noise canceling mics like the N1 has? Thanks

I do not think it does have the dual mics, however it is possible that it simply it is not listed in the User Guide.

What a birthday present, for a guy who will officially be an old man,
Woo Hoo ;)

I wanted my 1500th post to be special, but alas, I forgot and it just went quietly into that good night.

This is my first post on the forum. I've been following this thread since before MM's Box. I currently have the lg dare and am eligible for my NE2 on May 18th. Its been great following this thread u guys are awesome. Do you think I would be able to upgrade early when this phone comes out at the end of this month?

Thanks

My birthday is the 18th- I'll accept any Incredible gift that you might wanna throw my way, should you feel so generous :)

Actually I can upgrade 4 days later so I can deal with that..

In all seriousness, you lose NE2 if you upgrade early so I'd wait.. Personally..

First post after following for a couple weeks. Can't wait for this phone and with all the recent news (most broken here - quite impressively!), I decided to ask about the Incredible at the local Verizon store. I didn't expect them to tell me much, but thought since so much info is 'out there' now they might at least confirm that its coming...

Went to the first store in Del Mar (San Diego) and the clerk says she doesn't know anything about the Incredible. The manager overhears the conversation and says its just a rumor and the Incredible will never be coming to Verizon. He says its GSM phone and he thinks "T-Mobile will pick it up". He look like kind of a doosh and said this as he was walking out so I didn't press him or the clerks on it (who were totally clueless).

So I headed over to another Verizon store a mile away and the young kid says he's heard about it (in general) but nothing from Verizon. He said it would probably be at least 2 months since they haven't gotten any info.

I don't believe either of them really knows much, but why lie? I assume that they just want to sell a phone today and don't want people to wait another month. I bet their sales have PLUMMETED in the few weeks since so many people are waiting for the really good phones to come out...

Its one thing for the stores to say the have no information, but I just didn't expect them to lie!

Just because your information is different that their doesn't mean that you need to make the sweeping accusation that they are "liars". Consider for a moment that they know what their corporate chain tells them, WHEN they tell them. They aren't checking forums 25 times a day for the latest phone rumor or memorizing spec sheets on the 40 phones they carry. They have jobs and they do what their employer requires.

Given this phone is 2+ weeks out (and that still is unproven) - show a little tolerance for others and a recognition that everyone in this world doesn't know what you know - or think like you think.

The phone will get here soon enough.

i searched the thread and couldn't find the answer so... with the possibility of BB releasing the phone before VZW does in store. Does BB uphold the ne2 pricing?

Please stay away from the word "gay"...it's in the official Forum rules.

On topic, even my multitouch maps on Droid still have the "homosexual" zoom icons...pinch is there, but so is the standard button zoom.

Okay, that made me laugh. Yup, and I'm both of those forementioned words. LOL

Are you trying to be this dense? ... look at the page. Read the post.
This is the FAMILY PLAN FOR 2 LINES for $69. TODAY THIS IS $119.
For an individual it states $39 UNLIMITED

I'm not arguing what it says.

I was hoping someone would know how Verizon works and if posting this on testman means the lower prices are coming.

I think Verizon might be going the route of sprint on this one, notice it says on any Network, Sprint has the same plan where it is unlimited mobile to mobile on any network. The 69.99 and 39.99 are VZW's minimum talk plans, VZW's unlim mobile to mobile right now is just Verizon's network, if they extend it to all networks then you would get 450 anytime to any landline phones on single line and unlim to any cell phone for $39.99, for family plans its 700 min to landlines and unlim to any cell phone for $79.99

fyi tethering w/o a plan will cost you BIG bucks if you get caught- the tether plan is $15 and had a 5g cap- anything over that they charge additional

Its only 15 if you have the corporate email package. Basically you pay 60 total for your data plan plus tethering. So if you have the regular data plan, it's another 30 to tether..

So did we ever come up with a reason that the user guide is showing 576MB RAM and the hijacked spec sheet is saying it has 512MB RAM? Is that not an issue?

Please do not interject reality into the discussions- people like to believe in what they want to ;)
One of the specs is an error- wonder which?

Since Flash is apparently on the Incredible and no copyright for Adobe and perhaps 8gb built-in omitted from the manual, maybe this could be a screw-up too. Sheesh- maybe the manual really was put together by interns.....
