Root [ZIP] MMS FIX FOR CM/AOSP/AOKP (THANKS wolfu)

Ok so I just had a big breakthrough. I have MMS sending and receiving using the latest CM10 MMS.apk from Dastins ROM. This is JB MMS with all the features and should have sms split and quick reply with popup! This is what we all wanted.

Download and Flash this file. Make sure you remove the previous versions you may have installed.

PS. This is pure WIN!

Just tested this and it works. Well I didn't flash the zip. Just moved the app to the system/app folder and changed the MMSC in the apn-config.XML file. :3

just flashed on pacman but it caused bootloops.. after restoring all, i moved the files manually and that worked.... sending works and ill check recieving in a bit... will update this post... will update op once a few more people confirm this working...

edit: recieving works 2...

Success with AOKP for me.

It did for me too noticed that it also switched the keyboard to swipe word (pop up) which is nice... had that on mobsters V3 and really liked it. probably been there the whole time just didn't notice lol.

That might have been due to the updater-script resetting permissions on the files in the /system/app directory. I don't think the files it is installing or deleting would have anything to do with Swype. It could be changed to only reset permissions on the MMS apk.

The boot loop David had might also be related to some new app running that had it's permissions reset, although I've had problems in the past with the ROM's based on agrabren's CM10 not booting after installing mods or even changing parameters.

It would be a good idea to format cache+dalvik after flashing the zip file, or that could be added to the updater-script.

I like the stock look. I have now used the stock app over handcent. Also in your first post in bugs it says the app doesn't support SMS splitting. I would change that since now it does.

So has anyone tried this with Evervolv? Been debating trying that out, but not sure if it has been working or not.

Though I can not be lazy and try it...but where's the fun in that ;)

Attached is an updated version of the installation zip for the Mms.apk from GANGNAM that now sets permissions only on that app, deletes dalvik and formats the cache partition. Hopefully that will resolve any remaining quirks.

Note to krowley3: I had to change the update-binary because the original version didn't support formatting cache as ext4.

Again, thank you for all the help. I have uploaded this file to my dev-host account and am linking to it in the AOKP thread with credit to you. I will do the same in Dastins thread. If you have a problem with this, please let me know. I really appreciate you help with all the scripting as that is not my strong suit.

No need to credit me. All I did was help with the packaging. ;)

I'd prefer that the credit goes to davidmargolin, wolfu and yourself.

I'm just glad you guys managed to get it working. Now I won't see all the VM users complaining about no MMS for AOSP based ROM's on XDA.

Used ramjet73's "Len_Flare Original" fix on Mazda's 3.5.2 ROM..I can send and receive MMS with WiFi on or off on 3G. I'm not in a 4G area.

Edit: used original kernal that was flashed with Mazda 3.5.2 ROM

Thanks for EVERYONE's hard work!

krowley3, please give me the link so i can add it to the op... and sorry for not updating the op often enough... lots of things being changed and posted and i want to make sure everything is in shape before i update

Ok, I have posted this in AOKP, Dastins CM10, and PACMAN thread on XDA. This is the same file that Ramjet posted a few minutes ago, I just uploaded it to my Dev-host account.

Here is a flashable fix for Virgin Mobile users like myself. This has been verified working over at Android Forums. This will simply replace the apns-config.xml and the Mms.apk. A big thanks/credit goes out to Ramjet for helping out with the updater-script and binary. Please let me know if you have any questions about this.
