Root [Sprint] Noob to Rooting, basic question.

Vopogon

Lurker
Alrighty, I'm a somewhat recent Apple-convert, I had an iPhone about 2-3 years ago, just got rid of my EVO 4G I had for two years, and upgraded to the Note II.

Now, my iPhone was jailbroken, and I enjoyed how easy it was to change UI sounds. I never bothered to root my Evo for whatever reason, but not I have the Note. And like many, I'm not a fan of certain UI sounds.

Basically I just want to change

-S-Pen detatch/re-attach sound
-Phone Keypad sound
-Unlock sounds
and
-Touch sounds.

Also, if you have any good resources to get UI sounds for free or cheap download, that would be cool :)

I have zero interest in changing out the ROM itself. I'm more than happy with most of my phone, and am content with GO Launcher/Locker.

Model: SPH-L900
Android Version: 4.1.1
Carrier: Sprint

So I need to actually Root the thing, meaning I need the software and I'm not sure what to use, or how to use it.

And if I could get a guide to the UI stuff too, that would be fantastic.

Should help you do what you want.
Give Thanks, where Thanks is due.

Now, when I root it, all my data (Apps, Music, everything) will still be there, yes?
I don't want to have to re-do anything if I don't have to.

Everything will be the same after rooting, no data loss.... When you decide to flash a rom, that's when a full wipe will happen and essentially you will have to start over
