wouldnt we all be a lot happier if verizon just said something TINY hahah i still dont get why they wouldn't say anything, marketing wise...

anyways i'm that guy who sees a good phone like this but still researches other upcoming phones to see if theres better ones...bad habit i know

i'm gonna get this phone (retail) :( but does anyone know any upcoming verizon phones with a front camera? and what are your guys opinions on those...useless? something to wait for?

Saygus V-Phone is supposed to have both a front camera and rear facing higher res camera. Don't know when it will be released. I wouldn't be surprised if it's one of the new phones to be announced shortly or maybe it's delayed. I've not kept up on all the details of it lately since the Inc stole my heart ;)

Do non corporate Verizon guys get paid in commissions and have leeway when haggling with customers? I'm tempted to ring up the booth at the mall once they have it and tell them I'm buying the Incredible today, and if they drop the price $50 or something like that I'll come buy it from them and not the corporate store down the street.

Does it show you somewhere in your account that you have $50 to upgrade to a smartphone, or did you get something in the mail, etc? I'm just curious because I know in the past I have received a postcard in the mail saying I qualified for an additional $50 off or something, but I didn't keep it because I figured it would be noted in my account somewhere...but I can't find anything other than my NE2 credit.

The $50 was a coupon that I got from VZW. I've actually gotten a couple over the past several months because I think they wanted me to upgrade before my NE2 date. But I've been waiting on the Inc so I didn't keep them until this most recent postcard. I've seen the extra $50 in my account but then I haven't really looked for it and my NE2 should be more than that because it was the old rules grandfathered in.

BTW, don't forget that you can use your Google Voice account for unlimited texting for free and not have to pay that through VZW. In fact, by dropping my $10 texting fee and $15 unlimited dumbphone data fee, my data plan will net me only $5 more/month. :D

I had been using that, but this week I've been noticing major lag (as much as 8 hours) before receiving some incoming texts. Sometimes they didn't come through 'till I power cycled my Droid

Weird. I don't have that at all on my stupid Voyager via SMS or email! Since it was fixed via a power cycle it sounds like the problem might be with your Droid rather than the GV service :(

No, it doesn't have to be one of your F&F numbers. GV has the option to send SMS's received via GV to email now. Since the data plan/Android supports PUSH gmail, you get your texts instantly via email. You can reply to the email and it sends it via your GV number so the recipient sees your GV number not your email address. It's really quite simple. Just remember to uncheck the box to send SMS to your mobile phone or it will send it to both email and SMS and you'll get charged for the texts. I currently have it doing both since I have a texting plan but will drop to data only when I get the Inc. I hope I explained that adequately. It's actually wicked simple to setup and if you're around your laptop it's fantastic to be able to just reply to an SMS that comes into your email on your laptop keyboard because it's faster than typing on a little phone keyboard.
sounds like a great way to cut $10 off our Verizon bill. I just requested an invite for a Google Voice Number.

Thanks for the info!!!!

Not fixed, it just seemed to force the message through. Just logged on to my voice mail account and there another message was, from an hour ago, on my PC, but still not on my phone

congrats on the longest post ever :p previous winner was viper

(Takes a bow...thank you, thank you...)

Well, it's easier to multiquote as you read through than single quote and lose your place where you've been reading. Plus you can then see if others have already answered the question. Hey, at least you know I'm not trying to rack up my post count by doing tons of little posts! :p

good luck with that:confused::confused::confused:

From what I understand, authorized retailers can set their own pricing. However, I don't know how much luck you'd have on such a new/high end phone. But you could always try, right?

Probably was talking about being clocked down to 750ish like all other reports. The user guide states 1ghz Snapdragon processor, but said nothing about the clocked speed. All first reports had it at around 750 or so. I believe this to be true. The two test units a source of my brother's had were both clocked at this. The Droid is clocked at 550, with 256mb ram. iPhone 3gs clocked at 600mhz, with 256mb ram. The Incredible, even at 750mhz, with 550ish ram is smokin'!!!:D

Hey NOLA, just looked at the UG again, and towards the end where it lists the specs, it says "CPU Speed: 1GHz." The eGuide lists the more generic 1GHz Snapdragon processor. Now, as others have pointed out, there are errors in the UG, so take it FWIW, but to me the UG is confirming that the clock speed will be 1GHz.

Either way though, all reports say this thing is going to be smokin' fast!!

I hope this bad boy is running at full speed when released, but I think 750ish will be plenty fast enough, and help save the battery. Once again, the two test phones a source had were both running under clocked. Maybe just the test phones, but who knows. At 750, this thing will be the fastest thing out there behind the N1, and it has issues.:D

Agreed. NKT reported that his source's test phone was clocked at 768MHz also, and said that even with Sense, the Incredible was just as fast, if not faster than the N1, which he was also able to play with at the same time.

On the other hand, Stericson's source's test phone was clocked at 1GHz, and he dumped the data here to prove it, so it looks like there were multiple versions of the phone floating around out there at the same time.

Interestingly, one of the comments on another blog site made by a purported electrical engineer was that he was going to get this phone, and if it was shipped at 1GHz, he was going to try to down clock it to ~750MHz because the real bottleneck in the phone would be memory access time, so that the difference between ~750MHz and 1GHz in real world performance would be negligible at most, but battery life would be substantially increased by the lower clock speed.

I am NOT an engineer, and I don't claim that the other poster's info is correct, but it is an interesting point nonetheless.

I do know one thing though: a whole lot of us will rest much easier once VZW officially announces this bad boy!

A good friend has his Droid rooted, and over clocked it to 1.1ghz and it functioned perfectly, and was screaming fast. Imagine clocking this beast to say..........1.4ish?:D

are there any bad effects of doing this? Besides a smaller battery life. does it void the warranty or make your phone less reliable or anything of the sort.

so essentially my contacts would have to have my current cell phone number (for calls, especially if they have verizon - free calling) plus my google voice number for texting??

If VZW finds out, it will absolutely void your warranty. Stability will certainly become an issue as the clock speed is increased, but until this phone is out, and people get a chance to tweak it, we won't really know how high it will be able to be clocked and remain stable.

Hhmmmmm..... I just read a very interesting reply (I believe it's the 6th reply) to that 'article'. I do not know who posted that, but I really like their style....

Edit: heh, Steven58, I just saw that reply #4 was yours, right after I posted..... errr.... read, yes, read, reply #6. Reminded me of Star Wars ("Many Bothans died to bring us this information.....")
;-)

nice post, i just read it. I think poster #9 put it in an overt, yet crass manner! ;):p

Most likely he said that only about 7GB useable due to the space taken up by Android 2.1, Sense UI, and pre-installed apps. That'd be my take on it.

Since we do not have an official spec release or device, we can just as easily say it does or does not have 8gb for apps. I would say there is a 99% chance it does not, since current devices have 512mb and now 1gb (EVO). HTC has stated the cost is prohibitive.

Someone is eating some serious crow in a few weeks.... if me, I will smother it in A1 sauce to hide the 'gamey' taste ;)
