but i mean what do i have to do to activate it and have the 30$ plan actually working with it....i feel dumb

It will all be on the instruction sheet...i will see if i can find a copy of it online and post a link. But basically you open the box...plug it into the charger for a bit while you skim the one page instruction sheet.

If gives you a number to call from your "current phone"...and you follow a couple of prompts and you are done.

Then boot up the new phone and it asks you to set up a gmail account, and if you have ant pop email accounts or xchange accounts.

it couldn't be easier.....

Hey guys...i gotta question and this may have already been answered but help me out!

Will the Incredible have the voice to text feature? I couldn't find anything about it in the user guide....

maybe VZW will announce a device each day for six days starting on Monday and the Incredible will be the last one announced????

Save the best for last?!?!

I want this so bad, my only problem is that I can pay on full retail since I cant get the NE2 option.

I just looked on verizon's website and it has the HTC Imagio for $579 full retail. Does that mean the Incredible will be like $700 since it is so much better.

As stated by others Best Buy has it listed for $599 but you might be able to get a coupon or some other special to bring the price down. Also I understand that authorized retailers are allowed to set their own pricing so you might be able to find it somewhere for less $$. Also call CS and see what they can do. Sometimes they'll give you in between pricing with a little bit extra off with new contract agreement. :)

Please know that this pains me more then you know. I am not trolling, so lets get that out of the way. If you look at all of my posts I have been more then helpful up until this post. Just no one calls fall play this is on topic. Without further delay.

I have taking the time to read over the PDF file that we where given. There are allot of discrepancies. More then Verizon would ever allow. More over the PDF should have been created by HTC, being that its a HTC product. I would like to note that I have my doubts now if the phone will come with the 8Gb moviNAND. Reason being is if that PDF is correct then there is no mention. But if its a fake then we have yet to see any solid proof of the memory. Other then a couple testers who have yet to determine if the phone was misreading the SD card even when removed. Do remember that even test phones have bugs. The other thing I have found while going through the PDF is allot of bad references. One section mentions SD card expandable to 16Gb while another will say 32.

What I think I am trying to get at is I would think that the end of the month release maybe true. But people have had plenty of time to create a multitude of bogus info. If that info is placed well enough it can be mistaken for fact rather then fiction. Please don't flame me for taking precaution. I heed you all to take precaution in trusting all these fast leaking rumors and "facts". There maybe allot of disappointment in the future.

Meanwhile I hope this phone is just as it says. Incredible

Every manual I've ever gotten from VZW regardless of manufacturer was branded VZW on the manual. So you can't read anything into that...if anything, it's a good sign that it's real. Could be a draft version as well that someone leaked and not a final version. Plus, I've gotten sooooo many manuals over the past few years that have spelling and other errors that it's rather amazing.

On my way to the Verizon store to get a new battery for my LG Dare and will try to get some NEW information on the INC. I want the INC but like the actual keyboard of the Touch Pro 2. All the varying release dates and "rumors" "leaks" "unauthorized info", etc. is driving me insane - LITERALLY!!!

Question??? Just found this video of porting Android 2.1 on the Touch Pro2. . .isn't this the best of both worlds . . .if I get the TP2 and add Android 2.1 I get the best everything I want . . .no?? Plus the best key board on a cell phone EVER!!

Please comment on the pros and cons on this. . .been lurking on the site and know that their are several people on this thread that can give me some good advise on if this is a good move or not . . .getting impatient. My NE2 was March 26th and I am an instant gratification kinda guy.

Check out this link and please, please, please respond!!

PLEASE HELP!!!

YouTube - Android on an HTC Touch Pro2

Personally, I'd wait. If you want an Android device then get an device designed from the ground up for Android. Otherwise your need for "instant gratification" will end up with no gratification in the long run and the need to do A LOT of extra work to get it functional. But in the end, it's all up to you.

Hey, sorry if someone has already answered your question...I skimmed the last several pages quickly and didn't see where anyone had, but I could've easily missed it too...on my way out of town and as usual I'm running late! :)

VZW has given me that bank of minutes in the past as well. It has been a few years, so it's possible that things could've changed, but I found out too late what the caveat was: that bank was ONLY good on the primary line! So any of the additional lines that went over were billed at $.40/min (or whatever the rate at that time was). I was shocked when I got a huge bill and called to inquire, and that's when they explained that it wasn't a shared bank of minutes. They did reverse the overage charges though.

Another thing to think about is, are you not nearing your 1400 minutes because of the 10 free numbers? That's the situation I'm in. I have 5 lines, and we're only using around 1/3 of our 1400 minutes, but if I were to bump it down to 700 and lose the free numbers, we'd go waaay over. Annoying how they get you there, isn't it?!

Oh, and I have my Eris box/receipt and brought my old enV3 along in case I decide to stop at Verizon on the way back into town so I can use my upgrade for the Incredible. To steal your phrase: "(see how I got that back on topic there) ;)" LOL!

You KNOW that the store will be calling to you ALL DAY to return it! You won't have a moment of peace until you do. You know you have to have the Incredible! ;)

Thanks. . .just a temporary lack of will to wait for the INC . . .on my way to the VZW store. . . cross your fingers for me that my will doesn't break again and I don't walk out with something that I don't want!!!

NOOOOOOO, don't do it!!!! Hold out just a little longer...

Is it possible that the user's guide was a draft copy and not the final, anyone?

That's what I was wondering. I could see it being much easier to leak than a final version.

Little concerned that the usb port and the volume rocker are on the same side- How will this work for docks ( specifically desktop cradles)? Say if you want to listen to music/watch videos while you have the phone in a dock you would not be able to easily access the volume control.

Perhaps the dock will have a volume control on it?

That's what I was thinking. It would be nice if it did have built in volume control. :)

hey guys. so i have an enV2 now...and when this comes out. how much will it be a month? $30? or more? i have never had a smart phone. so idk if it is just the $30 they advertise, or if its some more but they don't tell you right away.

what does the $30 (or more) plan get you?

so what if im on a family plan. can my dad pay what he's paying now for talk and unlimited text. plus $30 on top of it and i'll be all set?

As others have said unlimited access to the internet, email, apps, etc from THE PHONE (ie not tethering). It's a straight add on of $30/per line for the data plan on top of whatever voice plan you have...family or otherwise.

so if i'm buying this phone online.... what do i have to do to get it up and running, activated, able to use on the network, put my contacts from my old phone on it, etc..

i never bought a phone online

I bought my last one online and the process was completely painless. I believe they've made it even easier now. Basically you dial in to over the air programming and it's pretty much automatic, though I want to say there's also an online option but not sure how that works. Don't remember now if I had to call into CS when I did my last one (I think I did but it was because I wanted to change my number to a different area code as we had moved) and the whole process took literally minutes and was completely painless. NOT something to stress over. ANYONE can do it. :)

As far as contacts go, if you're signed up for My Verizon (online access to your account), I think they can backup all your contacts online (for free...usually $1.99/mo if you don't have My VZW) and then you could download them to your new phone. If you use Google contacts, you can just sync them to your phone which is what I plan to do.

BTW, don't forget that you can use your Google Voice account for unlimited texting for free and not have to pay that through VZW. In fact, by dropping my $10 texting fee and $15 unlimited dumbphone data fee, my data plan will net me only $5 more/month. :D

Will the Incredible have the voice to text feature? I couldn't find anything about it in the user guide....

On page 63 in the user guide they say:

Entering text with voice input
You can use the phone’s microphone to input text vocally.
1. On the onscreen keyboard, press *microphone symbol*.
2. When prompted, say what you want written clearly into the microhone.

____________________________________________________________

Oh shoot!!! Page 63 in the user guide has a typo. Microphone is spelled as microhone (without the p!!!!) Does this mean that it is not a final copy or even a real copy!!!!!:(

Exactly.... I really don't understand what's so confusing about the memory and why people think it's not plausible they'll swear up and down it's fake just because it hasn't been done before on a Android phone, guess that means it never will right?

Or its because its not in the user guide and the equipment page source has shown to be horribly wrong in the past, remember when it had the Nexus One with Sense and the wrong web address? The last confirmation of internal memory was in testing and where as that bodes well for internal memory being that it was during testing does not make it a sure thing. Also the User Guide would be the last thing written one would imagine, sure there might be some late addons, but totally ignoring the internal memory? Not having a section on how to save items to the internal memory? Even though it acknowledges no memory card comes with the phone? Seems very odd for that to happen.

Quick question for folks. I got another one of those $50 off any smartphone if I upgraded from my dumbphone. I'm assuming that I can use this in addition to my NE2? Does anyone know if this is true? If so, that would be awesome.

Is that only if the Google Voice number is one of your Friends and Family numbers? and does the text show with the GV number or your cell number on the recipients phone?

Please elaborate :)

Yes, it says it on the spec sheet in two places. Plus I posted a couple of links earlier that show how to enable it even if it's not enabled by default (as on the Desire). It's easy enough to do but it appears from all the current data that it will be integrated from the get go.

Found voice to text in the user manual ! - xda-developers

Having the GV number as one of your Friends and Family only helps you for phone calls. With texts it doesn't matter. You'll get them for free because your using your data plan to send/receive.

I have been told by VZW CSR's that the NE2 discount (they've been bugging me to upgrade mine since Aug. 13th) is in addition to any other promos they're running, so I'd take that as a 'yes'. :o

I called my local Best Buy yesterday and spoke with the mobile manager, I asked him if he knew if the HTC Incredible was going to launch by the end of the month, he played completely dumb about it saying "what incredible i never heard of it" I laughed and said cmon you seriously never heard of it he then chuckled under his breath and said "isn't that a Sprint phone or something" I said nooo you sure you never heard of it? He then says "oh the one with the 8 mega pixel camera" I said yes! He said no man I haven't heard anything about that one yet, I though to myself first you never heard of it then you knew it had an 8 mp camera....he says ya the only thing I have against that phone is runs windows mobile I told him no it doesn't. This banter went back and forth for a minute, finally I said your gonna stay true to Verizon's solemn oath I take it and remain silent, he laughed and said no man if I knew I would tell you. So all in all I think he knows what we know he was obviously playing stupid he kept chuckling under his breath....

He may have been confused and was talking about the EVO 4G...on Sprint...rumored to be available at Best Buy...has 8MP camera etc. Best Buy actually has an advertising banner of the EVO....so he probably wouldn't have played so dumb if it were that phone...but I can see where they would be confused.

No, it doesn't have to be one of your F&F numbers. GV has the option to send SMS's received via GV to email now. Since the data plan/Android supports PUSH gmail, you get your texts instantly via email. You can reply to the email and it sends it via your GV number so the recipient sees your GV number not your email address. It's really quite simple. Just remember to uncheck the box to send SMS to your mobile phone or it will send it to both email and SMS and you'll get charged for the texts. I currently have it doing both since I have a texting plan but will drop to data only when I get the Inc. I hope I explained that adequately. It's actually wicked simple to setup and if you're around your laptop it's fantastic to be able to just reply to an SMS that comes into your email on your laptop keyboard because it's faster than typing on a little phone keyboard.

wouldnt we all be a lot happier if verizon just said something TINY hahah i still dont get why they wouldn't say anything, marketing wise...

anyways i'm that guy who sees a good phone like this but still researches other upcoming phones to see if theres better ones...bad habit i know

i'm gonna get this phone (retail) :( but does anyone know any upcoming verizon phones with a front camera? and what are your guys opinions on those...useless? something to wait for?

DOWNCLOCKED to 1Ghz??? Probably not. All the other info seems right on target though:cool:

Probably was talking about being clocked down to 750ish like all other reports. The user guide states 1ghz Snapdragon processor, but said nothing about the clocked speed. All first reports had it at around 750 or so. I believe this to be true. The two test units a source of my brother's had were both clocked at this. The Droid is clocked at 550, with 256mb ram. iPhone 3gs clocked at 600mhz, with 256mb ram. The Incredible, even at 750mhz, with 550ish ram is smokin'!!!:D

Ok all I am on my way to outta state, good thing is that I will going to where my buddy manages one of the VZW stores. He is also one of my sources. Trust me when I say this, I will be bugging him for every bit of information from him about this phone. Good thing is that I know his what kind of liquor that will make him talk. I am bringing out the big bottle for this one. I will try to post what I can get out of him tonight but it will prob be tomorrow since I will be way to hammered to post anything that is understandable.

Ha, I might even try to get him to unlock the store doors so I can do some snooping around.

Cya tomorrow!

Does it show you somewhere in your account that you have $50 to upgrade to a smartphone, or did you get something in the mail, etc? I'm just curious because I know in the past I have received a postcard in the mail saying I qualified for an additional $50 off or something, but I didn't keep it because I figured it would be noted in my account somewhere...but I can't find anything other than my NE2 credit.

No windows 7 64bit, what the f is wrong with companies these days.

Only Windows support for a Linux phone... that's nice...

I really hope the Incredible comes out the 29th because I bought the Eris April 1st and while I like the Eris, i'd rather not hack it to 2.1 and the phone is pretty laggy...
