who the hell would take the time to create a 175 pg document for it all to be fake!? if this is true i dont think i can take the disappointment!

I am new to these forums. Since November 2009 I have been looking at the Droid and weighed that against the iPhone. I liked the droid more because its open. When the Nexus One came out in January my focus shifted to that, as it seems the advance to 2.1 on the droid would be a long wait and carrier-tied. Thats the thing I hate most about Verizon is that they force you to conform to them.

I have had this LG VX9100M (env2) for almost 2 years and was completely fed up with it after the first year.

March 17 - I go in to the verizon store and my wife gets a new Blackberry - she loves it - gets just what she needs from it. I still had my heart set on the nexus one. March 23rd comes and goes and I am still left waiting like a dude with no prom date.

There has been a lot of noise about the Incredible since March and my focus has been looking at that lately. Now I am becoming impatient - I thought - whichever phone comes out first I will get, nexus one or Incredible. I see people with droids saying how much they love it and Here I am with the env2 - getting frustrated at the UI.

I have heard a lot of noise about Nexus One problems and support of those problems. I have had a google account now for 6 years - and my life is on google. I am a google fan boy in the highest order. So logically I am going to get an android device. Apple really upsets me with their closed system. I am kind of an apple fanboy too but again, they are the gate keepers of their precious apps (heard that they rejected an app because of its name, and another because it wasn't pretty enough)

Now we have - what looks like pretty Strong evidence of an Incredible release on either the 25th or the 29th. I hate verizon's stranglehold on what can and cannot be updated but I would love their support - and the lack of support on nexus one puts me off. I am torn.

Lastly, I was wondering of what kind of comparison I could make with pure 2.1 and 2.1 with sense. I dont know much about the sense UI and how it would differ from, say a droid 2.1

I am waiting for the incredible - I am leaning towards it. It looks to be the better device. I hope in 3 weeks time people with Droids are going to envy me and see that good things do come to those who wait.

I can't spend my whole life waiting though.

I guess the whole point of this rambling post is to find out more info on Sense - and also what people think about my decision.

do any verizon employees here know if we are expecting the same release date for the corporate stores(the 29th)? i was in my local store the other day and the manager genuinely didn't know hardly anything about the incredible. he acknowledged it but was either very misinformed or just ignorant. i think was getting it confused with the N1. he also said his droid was overclocked and was twice as fast as the incredible could ever be(yea right). when i mentioned the best buy release date he brushed that off, then i told him well i already have the user guide. to that he said "i don't doubt that since its already out on 2 other cariers". so since i can't get any info from these idiots i just wanted to know if we can expect a 29th release date for verizon or do we still have no idea?

On my way to the Verizon store to get a new battery for my LG Dare and will try to get some NEW information on the INC. I want the INC but like the actual keyboard of the Touch Pro 2. All the varying release dates and "rumors" "leaks" "unauthorized info", etc. is driving me insane - LITERALLY!!!

Question??? Just found this video of porting Android 2.1 on the Touch Pro2. . .isn't this the best of both worlds . . .if I get the TP2 and add Android 2.1 I get the best everything I want . . .no?? Plus the best key board on a cell phone EVER!!

Please comment on the pros and cons on this. . .been lurking on the site and know that their are several people on this thread that can give me some good advise on if this is a good move or not . . .getting impatient. My NE2 was March 26th and I am an instant gratification kinda guy.

Check out this link and please, please, please respond!!

YouTube - Android on an HTC Touch Pro2

So, once the Incredible got a firm (in my mind) date, I ordered a TP2. I plan on returning it, and getting the Incredible, but I wanted to test the TP2 out, to see if I would buy one off eBay in a few weeks or so.

I'm definitely buying one.

I upgraded to a custom ROM with Sense 2.5 on it, and I'm also running Android 2.1 with Sense UI over that as well. I've got the processor overclocked to 700 MHz. It's not perfect by any means, but the Android is very usable. Calls/texts/data work. The phone's speaker doesn't work, so you have to keep it on vibrate. GPS doesn't work right now either. I'm sure this stuff will get worked out over time.

The TP2 is easily the best phone I've ever owned. The keyboard is delicious, plus it's a global phone, which is a huge plus. I'm still going to return the TP2, and get an Incredible though.

I want both, and I can get the Incredible for $100 (most likely), after online discount, and NE2 discount. New TP2's are going on eBay right now for under $300, so for less than $400, I can have both!

If I had to choose one over the other... I don't know. The TP2 is a really, really good phone. I'd say do what I'm doing, and just try one out for a week or so.

When I was getting a new phone for my husband tonight the rep asked me about my plan ( I had a family share 1400 min text and talk). He mentioned to me that we had not been coming close to our minutes ( I knew this) and told me I could drop my minutes back down to 700 and he could give me a "bank" of 500 mins that could be used in case of overages. I would just have to agree to extend my contract for 1 year but that it would not affect my NE2 or any of my other lines renewal dates. So i of course jumped on it, Just wondering where this came from- Is this as good a deal as it sounds?

( see how I got that back on topic there) ;)

Hey, sorry if someone has already answered your question...I skimmed the last several pages quickly and didn't see where anyone had, but I could've easily missed it too...on my way out of town and as usual I'm running late! :)

VZW has given me that bank of minutes in the past as well. It has been a few years, so it's possible that things could've changed, but I found out too late what the caveat was: that bank was ONLY good on the primary line! So any of the additional lines that went over were billed at $.40/min (or whatever the rate at that time was). I was shocked when I got a huge bill and called to inquire, and that's when they explained that it wasn't a shared bank of minutes. They did reverse the overage charges though.

Another thing to think about is, are you not nearing your 1400 minutes because of the 10 free numbers? That's the situation I'm in. I have 5 lines, and we're only using around 1/3 of our 1400 minutes, but if I were to bump it down to 700 and lose the free numbers, we'd go waaay over. Annoying how they get you there, isn't it?!

Oh, and I have my Eris box/receipt and brought my old enV3 along in case I decide to stop at Verizon on the way back into town so I can use my upgrade for the Incredible. To steal your phrase: "(see how I got that back on topic there) ;)" LOL!

I would like to live in a world where other peoples word is worth is weight in gold.

P.S. Anon I appreciate you. But I don't trust in things I can not prove. We have seen the phone in a video and so that for now is something that is proven.

ok, no sweat...you can, however, find screenshots showing storage, but whatever makes you comfortable.

I hear you and feel your pain! I agree, the wait has been terrible, but I am confident the end is VERY NEAR. I am certain we will have our Incredible this month, and yes, Droid owners will be quite envious.:D

:confused::confused: Thanks for responding . . .I appreciate it, but now I'm really confused!!!

Just got home and off to bed.

That article like all the other ones always gets me worried. Not that the phone exists but maybe it is farther away than we think.

I always keep my hopes up. But from hearing about this phone in December, its hard to keep on truckin.

Lets hope for a few leaks today... pics maybe?

The article sums up what I have been posting- too much conflicting information on two "official" leaked data documents.

1. 8gb of fast app storage that fits Android specs (unless sixteen 512mb chips are mated together, or the new 1gb, but same physical space issue). There is a reason we do not see more than 512mb now and just now seeing 1gb (too expensive and they do not exist).

2. Why say 512 rom AND an 8gig? Then the 512mb / 576mb conflict

3. If the 8gb shows up as a drive, it is NOT app storage

4. Monday "confirmed"- if for MS Pink phones, true (bleh)

Heck, even the "official" manual released seems suspect due to lack of Flash called out on the copyright sheet. Missed by HTC perhaps, but still poor miss by their product manager in marketing.

BTW, there is zero mention of more than 1gb of app storage for devices mentioned in the dev threads of the official Android forums- this would be big news. Android team would love it though, since they HATE the concept of apps2sd and are not exactly breaking their backs to make it happen. It is STILL not on their road map, so next year at best.

In summary, if the current data is legit, it is poor. Please consider that it is not our job to get these things right, but have already found things wrong- if the actual product exists (specs) as noted in this thread.

Added:

Another big issue will be if the device is clocked down to 768mhz- some blogs say yes and other say no. Considering what Verizon did to the Droid, who is to say it is not clocked down? Contrary to posts here, Snap can be set with a lower ceiling- just like the 3430 can.

I've decided to come out of lurking mode. Even though its only been like 3 days lol

First of all Happy Birthday Montana Man!!! :)
I agree that the "journey begins monday" isnt one single announcement, but all next week. Weve been hearing over and over that verizon is coming out with some great new device(S)
We were all peeved about Verizon not announcing at CTIA. I for one was pissed at Verizon. But now I see they have a had a rather genius plan IMHO. They knew Sprint was going to hog all the spotlight at CTIA. So Verizon wanted to wait till now to make thier own big splash. And I'm no longer mad at them for taking so long. They wanna make it INCREDIBLE before they release it to us. Gotta love it!
I was one of the people that were seriously considering the EVO and Sprint. But with everyones help with comparison I'm stickin with Verizon and the Incredible!
To everyone wanting pix.... I believe NKT's pix is what the final product is going to look like. So no need to look further. And when we do get new pix I KNOW that they will be leaked here first! :)
Special SPECIAL THANKS to all the awesome num 1 contributors peeps on this thread...MM, Nash, Kappy, NKT (I hope you are not upset about the whole "take it for whats its worth" crap a while back. You have bee so freakin amazing here and I hope there are no hard feelings) and OF COURSE Anon! And Steven for putting a smile on my face and keeping things light. People can talk all they want and doubt you sometimes, and they all owe you major apoligies. You help keep this thread on our toes and us from jumping ship.
I think its funny how other sites take the things that leak here and make it seem were saying something else. Cracks me up

Oh...... this is my 100th post! :) May not be a big deal but it is to me :P :)

Congrats on 100 and thanks for the shout out! :)

There is a video about Sense available on Youtube that shows what Sense is about. I think it's pretty cool.

Wow....I have been reading your posts for a week now and am wondering why you feel like this phone is not finished or lesser when all evidence points to the opposite? There is more evidence in support of the specs than against?
