If it comes out at BB on the 29th and in Verizon stores on 5/13, I'm going to have to pay full price because I am only eligible for the annual upgrade. My NE2 doesn't kick in until July. BB won't give you the annual upgrade, correct?

They told me that they only do new, 2 year contracts, no annual upgrades.

Folks, i've been contacted by someone who is a long time friend of our thread and forum with a theory regarding the reported (and doubted) 8 GB moviNAND internal storage on the Incredible. He decided to put together a brief 1-pager explaining his theory and it happens to be the same theory i've had all along so i'm posting it for further consumption by others.

I'll post his ppt (converted to pdf for uploading), but in summary the theory is:
1 GB of app storage (locked from users)
6-7 GB of other internal storage for storing music, movies, etc... (seen a discrete drive when mounted via USB)
And of course your MicroSDHC card (which would be another discrete drive when mounted via USB)

This theory is also supported by another source who tells me the internal storage and MicroSDHC are seen as different drives when mounted.

Thanks again friend, you know who you are! ;)

Do you have anything in regards to the internal memory that has come out and been put to print AFTER the testing phase?

are there any bad effects of doing this? Besides a smaller battery life. does it void the warranty or make your phone less reliable or anything of the sort.

Rooting the phone, which is a precondition of overclocking, voids the warranty. However, should one ever need to return the phone to Verizon, the phone can be returned to the original condition.

Instability and heat are issues with overclocking a phone just like a desktop computer. One must find the right balance of speed, heat and battery life.

Some people are actually getting *better* battery life while overclocking due to low voltage kernels.

Please explain. What are these low voltage kernels you speak of.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming...("this is the best microSD card"..."nah huh...THIS is the best microSD card"..."that's like so photoshopped"..."i'm old but pump iron watch out if i see you at the sizzler whippersnappers"...rinse repeat) :D:cool:

I lol'd. Is Sizzler even around anymore? If it is that would be Incredible! I also though it was Macaroni Grill.

Android Question.

I am a sirus/xm subscriber and I have a question. I know there is now app for sirus right now. I can listen to sirus online. I was wondering if android would load it though the browser like I can on my home pc. Any info would be great appreciated.

I have no answer for you. But... I LOVE your avatar!

Maybe they changed the name from Incredible to HTC Journey ? haha.

Don't stop believin'!

On my way to the Verizon store to get a new battery for my LG Dare and will try to get some NEW information on the INC. I want the INC but like the actual keyboard of the Touch Pro 2. All the varying release dates and "rumors" "leaks" "unauthorized info", etc. is driving me insane - LITERALLY!!!

Question??? Just found this video of porting Android 2.1 on the Touch Pro2. . .isn't this the best of both worlds . . .if I get the TP2 and add Android 2.1 I get the best everything I want . . .no?? Plus the best key board on a cell phone EVER!!

Please comment on the pros and cons on this. . .been lurking on the site and know that their are several people on this thread that can give me some good advise on if this is a good move or not . . .getting impatient. My NE2 was March 26th and I am an instant gratification kinda guy.

Check out this link and please, please, please respond!!

PLEASE HELP!!!

YouTube - Android on an HTC Touch Pro2

I don't know how familiar you are with roms. Android doesn't just natively run on the TP2, it has to be changed and fixed and applied in a particular manner. Android also loses some functions when it is on the TP2. Sound, for one, is an absolute killer. My brother actually owns a TP2 and we constantly wage debates over phones that run modified software, versus those that don't. He has put Android on his phone, and while it looks cool, it just doesn't have the functionality as if the phone had it's own install and all of the pieces were in place. Months from now they might get most of the stuff to work, but if you don't want to wait for a phone like the Incredible.... I'm not sure you wanna wait months anyway.

Don't be worried about the keypad. Most people I know with Droids don't use it and just use the touch screen. A 3.7 inch screen will be enough for you to get your manly mits all over it. Unless you want a half working version of Android on your WinMo phone, then I'd hold out. If the keyboard is that important, the Touch Pro 2 is actually a very nice Windows Mobile phone. =P

You've got to be kidding :)

You helped (considerably) create this monster and now you expect everyone to slow down? Not happening. You have to keep feeding the MONSTER!

Properly cropped, this will make a great HTC Incredible wallpaper!

With a purposeful grimace and a terrible sound
He pulls the spitting high tension wires down

Helpless people on a subway train
Scream bug-eyed as he looks in on them

He picks up a bus and he throws it back down
As he wades through the buildings toward the center of town

Oh no, they say hes got to go
Go go Godzilla, yeah
Oh no, there goes Tokyo
Go go Godzilla, yeah

Rinji news o moshiagemasu!
Rinji news o moshiagemasu!
Godzilla ga ginza hoomen e mukatte imasu!
Daishkyu hinan shite kudasai!
Daishkyu hinan shite kudasai!

Oh no, they say hes got to go
Go go Godzilla, yeah
Oh no, there goes Tokyo
Go go Godzilla, yeah

History shows again and again
How nature points up the folly of men
Godzilla!

Please explain. What are these low voltage kernels you speak of.

A number of Droid developers are releasing custom kernels with a variety of 'slots' for different clock speeds (550MHz, 600, 800, etc.).

In addition, they have recently been releasing kernels that run at low, medium or high voltage for the various clock speeds.

Some Droids run fine (and cooler / longer battery) with a low voltage kernel at a given clock speed, but some are unstable. Increasing the voltage increases stability, but increases temperatures and decreases battery life.

I'm sure you'll be seeing similar work from the XDA / Cyanogyn guys for the Incredible.

As far as I know there isn't any sirus/xm app available today. I think it has something to do with the stream they use. You may be able to do it with flash lite but I'm not sure. I think there will be one available in the future but hey atleast we are getting Netflix sometime this year.

Did a search for "sirus" and "xm" at Androlib and androidtapp and didn't see one. Though there are plenty to track satellites with (wth?).

No, it doesn't have to be one of your F&F numbers. GV has the option to send SMS's received via GV to email now. Since the data plan/Android supports PUSH gmail, you get your texts instantly via email. You can reply to the email and it sends it via your GV number so the recipient sees your GV number not your email address. It's really quite simple. Just remember to uncheck the box to send SMS to your mobile phone or it will send it to both email and SMS and you'll get charged for the texts. I currently have it doing both since I have a texting plan but will drop to data only when I get the Inc. I hope I explained that adequately. It's actually wicked simple to setup and if you're around your laptop it's fantastic to be able to just reply to an SMS that comes into your email on your laptop keyboard because it's faster than typing on a little phone keyboard.

Varaonaid: I'm trying to figure out if I can get by w/o paying the texting fee, so thanks for this tip. However, looking at the GoogleVoice setup screens, the only place I see a checkbox for "Send a text (SMS) message to:" is under the Voicemail notification section. Unchecking that box seems to avoid an SMS when I get voicemail, but not clear where I can indicate not to send any SMS to my mobile phone. Help?

Settings > Phones > click the 'Edit' button for your mobile phone.

Leave "Receive SMS on this phone (mobile phones only)" unchecked to prevent Google Voice from sending SMS to your real mobile number. You will receive SMS via the Google Voice app on your phone.

You would only want the above option checked if you are using a feature phone so that you could receive SMS sent to your Google Voice number.

Thanks most kindly, AoT! :)

Going by the battery life suggested in the specs, I sure hope that isn't at the clocked down speed. That really puts the N1 at a greater advantage.

As for cutting out texting plans and using GV, I assume then that essentially it requires to use the GV number for all texts, which in turn could be trouble for some if they have a high number of contacts. It's essentially a phone number change if you don't actively use your GV number now.

I only use my GV number for people I don't really want to have my digits. IE: Beer Goggles.

^^^ That is such a good idea!!! I hate giving my number out! A lot of "men" get straight up rude when you don't want to hand over your digits!!!
I usually give the unwanteds the number to the Waffle House, but I'm sure that the Waffle House on Old National (don't ask which Waffle House b/c there's like 500 on that road) is tired of people calling and asking for Trinisha (<- not my real name, it's my 'round the way girl name). Now I can give my GoogleVoice number and if they 'test call' to see if its real it'll work!!
I'm testing this out tonight while I'm visting my parents. I have to go out tonight and my GoogleVoice experiment will keep me busy while I sneak peek at this thread! My friend has a dumbphone and gets all kinda bitchy when I do anything on my phone...

Can anyone send me a Google Voice invite?

TIA

If there are no free invites sent your way, you can go to eBay, search "Google Voice" and you will see tons of auctions for them. You should be able to pick one up for just a couple of dollars. You will be emailed an invite link.:)
