Eris to v2.x, when?

Call The CEO Of Verizon
(212)-395-1000
haven't tried them though
just googled it

You may have better luck calling the CEO of Verizon Wireless rather than Verizon, which is a joint partner (with Vodafone) owner of Verizon Wireless. I'm sure that Seidenberg is more focused these days on the landline business than the timing for HTC Eris owners getting the 2.1 update.

Plus you might have to talk with a secretary first.

Yes, I am sure they will get right on this, ROTFLMAO!!! :D

my response so far

my statement

Yes I was just wondering what was going on with the Droid eris update. By my understanding it was to arrive by 1Q10 but that has passed us by. We as a consumer deserve a explanation as to why it has not rolled out yet or if it is just not coming. I just don"t think it is a fair trade if we dont pay our bill you shut us off but you break a promise and we cant do anything to you. At least give us some clarity other than rumor. Thanks for listening.

I feel like a better person when I read through all these desperate posts!
I can't imagine the agony you're all going through...

.. could be gas, though.

i am not desperate i just want an explanation they want one when you don't pay your bill now don't they, i have 2 eris' one with 2.1 v2 and the other one still at 1.5

Word is, it will be within the next week. Won't even say where I got this from, but I was told they would start rolling out the OTA on about the 15th of this month. In the same way as the Droid. That's just some up-to-date info I've recieved from more than one source. Then I read on another forum somebody got that same info from supposedly 4 different VZW store reps......but who knows if that's true (what's the need to go to 4 different stores?)

Now, with that said, I may be way off. But I will say that if it doesn't happen by NEXT FRIDAY, oh well. I'll just be satisfied with my 1.5 and leave it at that.

Back to your regularly scheduled programming.

*Edit* I just saw on the VZW forum that somebody else mentioned it. But they said the 13th. And for the record, that wasn't me. But I'm interested in seeing if any of VZW reps would ever comment on posts regarding the Eris.

It's just that the only need I've seen for the update for Eris is the one that we have to make a case for when talking about keeping up with the latest changes in Android, which I mostly disagree with.

I see no need for the mostly eye-candy improvements described by most who have the leak, along with the larger app base available.

The only exception to that is something that a Verizon district rep told me several days ago: "...bits which address the slower processor and graphics rendering in Eris.." That seems valuable to those who say they get lag, slow starts, etc, which I don't on mine.

But I got my Eris at 1.5 in January. I mean, that's just a few months with the device and here they want to change the entire OS on a model that came out last November.

I don't think they really owe us anything.

...
Perhaps for some. But I bought the phone knowing that Google Navigation was coming and I wanted it. Now I have it.

The only reason that I would care about the OTA is the hope that they have done something to fix the silent phone problem. Other than that, I can stay with the leaked. It works well with the Helix launcher and I really don't need the live WP and extra stuff anyways. Just want a fix for the phone part. A working phone without a reboot is kind of a big deal to me and the wife..

This.

I can deal with everything else, but the silent dial is killer.

At this point, I'm mostly just waiting for the OTA because it might be a small step towards the XDA guys being able to provide root for those of us on 2.1. More and more, I'm realizing the good things that can be done with a rooted phone ... making a great device even greater.

"Silent dial?"

You receive a call and your phone vibrates when it should be ringing. Then you answer and you hear nothing, and the person can't hear you. Then you call them back and you don't even hear the phone ringing...you have zero sound. The only solution is a reboot.

It's never happened to me, otherwise I'd have returned my phone for a replacement; that is a pretty serious flaw.
