Help S2 on ICS 4.0.3 randomly shutting down on standby/battery calibration problems

I had the same issue many have posted about. It seemed that right after the 4.0.4 update, my phone was powering off several times a day...many times requiring me to remove the battery to get it to boot up again. I did notice that in some cases the phone was VERY hot (no case).

I restored to factory settings and since then I haven't had any issues.

Talked to ATT via their support chat and they did confirm that they ARE aware of this software issue but an update needs to be sent to them from samsung first and then they are able to test it on multiple devices and then release it.

The rep was going to send me to warranty but unfortunately I have a crack in my screen and thus I'm screwed.

I am having the same issues as described above. Rapid battery drain and/or random shutdowns with removal of battery necessary to restart. This happens 2-3 times a day now. I ran ICS update through Samsung Kies last summer, but this has been happening since the last OTA update. I broke my screen after a month of ownership last March, so my warranty is dead. Any ideas as to how to fix this?

As suggested above, I went to Settings > Applications > All. Then I tapped on each AT&T pre installed application, in the next menu tapped the Disable button. A warning popped up about disabling pre installed applications and I clicked OK.

I will wait a few days to see of this helps the SOD (Sleep of Death) and repost.

Has anyone experienced a shut off while charging the phone?

I haven't- yet. But it makes me nervous when I use my phone for an alarm.

Oh yes! I almost missed my flight to Jamaica because the damn thing had shut itself off!

I thought my issues had been resolved when Samsung replaced some parts, but it is up to its tricks again. Now it is even wonky while powered off & charging. My phone has turned to unreliable garbage since the ICS update. So sad & frustrating.

My phone had an incident of SOD the next day after disabling the pre installed AT&T applications. Too bad since I had hoped this would be an easy solution. I suppose I will continue my research into rooting at this point.

Does the official jellybean update resolves this issue or not. My new s2 which came pre loaded with 4.0.4 has been having this problem since the day i bought it. Please let me know if the jb update resolved this issue so i can take a breath of relief.

I'm asking for GT I9100. The issue is same as mentioned above in this thread. I need help. I just want to know that whether the official JB update resolves this or not. If not, I'll be doomed.

You're more likely to get an answer in the i9100 section of XDA Developers.

That said, if your current firmware if a big problem, why don't you just upgrade and find out? After all, it can't get any worse.

PROBLEM SOLVED BY UPDATING THE FIRMWARE TO OFFICIAL JELLY BEAN 4.1.2 NO RANDOM SHUT DOWNS NOW, NO BATTERY CALIBRATION PROBLEM AND NO OVER HEATING. IT WAS A SOFTWARE ISSUE. HOPE YOU GUYS ALSO GET THE UPDATE SOON FOR YOUR I777s
