can I uninstall bloatware without 'root'ing?

I am new to all this - android, computer forums, and whatever. I mean, I am not a tech kind of guy.. but I am interested. I say this because I am sure I will ask questions that have already been asked/answered. oh well, please bear with me...

From reading on here, it seems people uninstall applications that they do not intend to use. I tried a couple of times and my Note II warned me that uninstalling may cause other apps/functions to fail.

so, what I am asking, is , should I remove things that I cannot see using ?

in particular:

Game Hub

ChatON

AllShare Cast Dongle

You can't remove them without rooting, but you can disable many of them in app settings.
Removing the apps is not recommended if you plan on taking over the air updates.

Removing apps won't have any affect on ota's, having a rooted phone and taking an ota, there's where issues arise

Not true, at least not on U.S. carriers.

Deleting preinstalled apps cause the OTA updates to fail, that's why it's recommended to rename them to .bak or move them to a different directory, or at the very least back them up to your sdcard or pc before deleting them.

You can have root and take OTA updates, people do it all the time, then complain that they've lost root access.
