"If" LTE comes out? Not sure if your on something sir, but I'm not sure if you have realized that the 2 largest carriers in the US are both going to be running LTE...Sprint is the lone wolf here that is going to jump ship because Clearwire will probably be going to LTE

It's an interesting question though. My girlfriend jumped ship from Sprint to Verizon a few years ago because it was clear that they had a more spread out 3G network. However Sprint is heading in that same direction now with 4G that verizon did with 3G. They have positioned themselves to use eitehr WiMAX, LTE, or both. Right now they only have WiMAX but in a year they could be the only carrier with both services. That could greatly impact service quality.

All I'm saying is this is the same situation Verizon went through a few years back. Sprint was the dominating provider along with Cingular Wireless (thats soo funny to say now) but Verizon became the first to push out strongly with their 3G network rollout

Plus in my opinion the Evo is a fricken beast. No phone is like it, when you see it like i have you'll get me

I don't think Sprint will be able to get in on the LTE bandwagon - the AT&T CEO indicated as much when asked about the Sprint CEO's comments at CTIA.

If there's one thing you can bet on, it will be that Verizon's 4G network will be great. We may have to use cups and strings to talk on it, but I assure you that their LTE network will be great. It's the only thing they care about.

With all the inventory of accessories, Evo's in Sprints system,Evo advertised on Best Buys site, I really have a hard time believing it will be June before the Evo is out.

I say the Evo will be sold within 30 days.

Walter: When I do get the [information], how long will the [release] take?
Curly: Two weeks.
Walter: Two weeks? Two weeks?
Curly: You sound like a parakeet there. "Two weeks! Two weeks!"
Walter: Well, two weeks. It- it's amazing.
Curly: Amazing nothing. It'll be a regular miracle.

Sprint isn't using both. They're simply covering themselves for when AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon are LTE. They're banking on "sharing" down the road and being the sole WiMax provider won't put them in a position to succeed. BTW, so right now if you're a Sprint customer roaming on Verizon's network, you get 1xRTT data speeds. Does that mean this time next year when Verizon has 3x the 4G footprint of Sprint that you'll be able to roam with EVDO in all the areas where Verizon is pushing 15Mbps LTE? :p I like the EVO. It's a sweet phone. But I'd rather have blanket 3G coverage with the Incredible. Then when the EVO comes to Verizon in LTE form, I can pick that up this time next year with better 3G and 4G coverage.

Sprint decided to go with the old and busted existing tech that didn't need much overhaul because the bands they use as WiMax was originally there for emergency services bands. LTE although kind of the same animal uses new hardware this a more robust and faster network. Sprint is going to get customers because they are first. But in the next few years those same users will be back with Verizon for the same reason they get customers now..the network

Kind of reminds me of when I was younger on long car rides with my parents. When I'd ask "how much longer" the answer was always "about 20 minutes."

Sprint wants to bail from being the leader of the 4G wireless revolution? Are you on something sir? 4G is already used in tens of countries in europe and asia and is a tested tech. When (if) Lte comes out get back to me, Sprint said they were coming out with a device for the past 2 years, so if Verizon says one by winter add atelast a year to it

Consider this getting back to you...

I think the reason Sprint has opened themselves up to the possibility of switching over to LTE is the announcement by a few big-time telecom equipment manufacturers over the past few months that they're abandoning WiMax technology and discontinuing their offerings. Not a glowing endorsement. I personally don't think WiMax is dead, it just might not be the reigning mobile data standard. It may be relegated to fixed location wireless data services like ClearWire offers. It helps that LTE is part of the 3GPP and a natural path of GSM evolution.

I missed the last few hours of posts. My daughter called me said we had to go get her car something majorly wrong with the brakes. Turns out she just wanted to tell me SHE GOT ENGAGED!!! lol! :)
