Ok my buddy got back to me on the dummy phone time frame. He told me usually its a day to a week but HTC sends theirs early, the tp2 was a month early. So take that as you want but those are the general time frames

Hopeful for it, but nothing concrete to point to an announcement. Apparently they're handing out test devices to the different vzw employees, so we should at least get some hands on feedback.

I was under the impression there being handed out for training...I could be mistaken.

Come to think of it, if we are 2 weeks from launch...it seems a little late for testing at this point.

I missed the last few hours of posts. My daughter called me said we had to go get her car something majorly wrong with the brakes. Turns out she just wanted to tell me SHE GOT ENGAGED!!! lol! :)

So what did I miss?

I asked a girl to marry me, she said yes, we tricked her mom by saying she had some stuff wrong with her brakes.:D

Sorry, I said test devices, but I thought it was for training as well. Not sure how widespread the training is though.

First post..yada yada

I am anxiously awaiting the release of the incredible (aren't we all..I should say desperately) and just about caved and bought myself a droid! I held tight and clutched my LG dare and thought of better things to come!

YES, because its AMOLED.

The Evo is LCD.

Actually, amoled is naturally better than lcd. It has a better contract ratio which separates the lights and darks in the sunlight (or shade) and has much better potential. The N1 amoled is just cheap, but the samsung "super" amoled screens are much better than lcd, especially in sunlight.

Considering it's the same size as the N1's, there's a good chance the Incredible shares the exact same screen. Then again, it could be an improvement, it wouldn't be hard to slightly alter the materials in the machines that made the N1's to have a better screen and considering the amount of complaints and the quality of samsungs (screen wise at least), HTC HAS to be working on a better screen, at least for future models.

EDIT: Now that I think of it, the N1 screen wasn't bad in the sunlight except it was very reflective. Making it less reflective would be an extremely easy thing to overcome.

These next (hopefully last) couple weeks are gonna drag..................... Some high quality pics will alleviate some of the frustration. (hey that sounds familiar)

Rhetorically speaking, who cares?!

What difference does it make when any other device is introduced on a different network? Are YOU here interested in shopping for the coolest device? ...or shopping for the best device on the Verizon network? If it is the latter, then it is completely immaterial when any phone on a different network is released. If you're just gadget shopping, irrespective of the network, then, wow, you must be exhausted. More power to you, though.

All non-VZW equipment releases will in no way affect VZW's superior network coverage, or when or if your voice or data service switches over to roaming, or the roll out of VZW's LTE (4G) services, affect any of your experience with nor certainly the release of the HTC Incredible.

Likewise, the release of the VZW-compatible Nexus One, while arguably related, is also a non-issue to the function or viability of the one of a kind Incredible. Verizon worked with HTC to design this phone to only work on the Verizon network. That is why it will not surprise me when it is confirmed that this device has 8Gb of internal storage, in addition to an empty microSD slot. I suspect that is also why it has the 8MP camera, as well as an AMOLED screen which does not have the multitouch issues we've heard about on the N1. It is because they are DIFFERENT phones.

I know I don't have to read the posts about other phones, which are either offered on the Verizon network or not. Generally, I skip right by them, but there are just so many. My main point is ...well, WTF is your point? Why in this forum??

I'm not buying an Evo. I'm not buying a Galaxy S. I'm not buying a Desire. And I thought none of you were either. If I'm right, why are we (you) still talking about them?

I'm off to go back to quickly and quietly scrolling through this thread, mining for gems of confirmed data and humorous speculation about the phone I intend to purchase, the HTC Incredible.

we are all sure of the 29th release but cant figure out the announcement :p hows that work?!

I think i remember reading Best Buy was putting it on the first page of their advertisements on the 25th, so i would assume Verizon will be announcing it at least a couple of days before then.

I wouldn't necessarily say "cheap" - the tech was impressive when the handset was designed. Only after the N1 came out did Sammy announce Super AMOLED. Integrating the touch sensitive surface into the AMOLED layer was quite a technical feat.

Are you kidding?? Now people are going to look at NKT's "When in Rome" comment and go...

"Hmmmmm... Rome is in Italy.... "Rome" has 4 letters... "Italy" has 5 letters..... 4 x 5 = 20..... NKT is secretly trying to tell us that THE INCREDIBLE WILL BE RELEASED ON THE 20TH!!" You watch... some clown is thinking that right now.... never fails!!

But Italy is in Europe (6 letters) That means 6/20/2010

Obviously the majority of us here are planning on getting the Incredible, but I'm sure there are a few out there live in a place where more than just Verizon has acceptable coverage/usability.

I think comparing the Incredible to other phones is very relevant. I'm desperate for a great Android phone and I have been happy with Verizon's coverage, but if the Evo and Incredible were released on the same date, I might use Sprint's Free Guarantee to see if I could get by on the NOW network.

But in the current situation, bring on the Incredible.:)

Does anyone know about Froyo? What new features it will have over 2.1 and if the incredible is likely eligible to upgrade to it (when it releases)?
