Eris to v2.x, when?

It's never happened to me, otherwise I'd have returned my phone for a replacement; that is a pretty serious flaw.

Yeah, tell me about it. It's a 2.1 issue that I've had with both leaks. Never had it happen with 1.5. It makes me wish I never installed it. People who are pushing people to install the leak are morons, because even though they aren't getting that particular flaw, others are and it's crippling.

Well, some of them may fall into that description, "morons." But my take on it is that there are two categories of "leakers," and perhaps "rooters" as well who urge others to join them: 1. Morons, and 2., Perfectly reasonable people who love to push the envelope, so to speak, but sometimes find themselves in more trouble than it's worth, whether they're willing to admit it or not, and many of them are in the "misery loves company" clan so we'll see them posting to us with 1.5 about coming "over to the dark side."

Reasonable people sometimes to unreasonable things.

Given the fact that several people have reported this problem, anyone who pushes this update on someone would have to be either a moron or an asshole, or both. If they shared their opinion / experience and included a word of caution to the person, then that would be a different story.

Pushing people install the leak that haven't is just silly. Those that have not done it typically are not going to and/or don't know enough about it to make an informed decision. It has become "the answer" for some to upgrade to the leak in order to fix the slightest problem when someone is running 1.5 instead of actually trying to find/fix the problem. I view it the same way I do task killers. If you don't have/need one then what is the point of installing. The leaked update or a task killer may be a quick fix for some, but it doesn't go to the root of the problem and actually correct anything.

Well, ok. But there is the "bugs and fixes" thread and many postings around.. I sort of look at it this way: the many who have not installed either leak and have not rooted are a large group of people that is proof that staying on 1.5 is simply an easy and responsible thing to do, in spite of the propaganda around here about 2.1 and rooting being such a great thing to do to your device.

If I were you, and if I'd leaked or rooted, and then had these "killer" problems, I'd be blaming myself, not those pushers who convinced you.

As an extreme, almost macabre sort of analogy to make my point, I hold drug users who've lost their jobs, families, money and basically their lives responsible for what they've done, not their dealers. The dealers could not exist without the users.

So you're saying that you don't think it's possible that there ARE actually people out there who are happy with the leak? And if so, they are a moron, asshole, or both if they suggest to others to try it out? There are a few holes in your argument, I think. One of them being the fact that 1.5 has many bugs of it's own. Should we jump to your conclusion then that everyone who purchases the eris or encourages others to do so is either a moron, an asshole, or both? I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want that since you fall into that category. How about we act like adults and, instead, come to the conclusion that for some, the leak is worth flashing despite the bugs, and for others it is not. I think people can make an informed decision from there, don't you?

Some are just blissfully ignorant of some of the more serious problems that the 2.1 leaks actually have. Since the problems are not all that wide spread then they assume that they are caused by user error or app conflicts as has been suggested a few times. There are a number of members, including myself, that are only experiencing very minor bugs on either of the leaks. That said, I don't push people towards or away from the leaks. I recommend that they do their own research and make their own choices.

Regardless of how one feels about the 2.1 leaks and roots, this is what it all boils down to. In this, and in all of life's decisions, people need to take responsibility for the actions they choose; it's the adult thing to do.

There's a tremendous amount of information on the subject, here and elsewhere, from a wide variety of points of view. Enthusiastic people on both sides, but certainly no conspiracy or malicious intent. More than enough background to make an informed decision, and then accept it, and move on the more important things in life.

I wonder how many smiles and laughs the Verizon staff and crew get by reading all this frustration about a silly little software update.

I say we start filling the forums with lack of enthusiasm for the update, and then we will start seeing our phones light up with an OTA.

Although, the more I read, it looks like it is on its way within the next week or so.

If not, I say we take a massive strike against Verizon and demand payback. Preferebly HTC Incredible's with case and car charger. Just a thought. :D

The only person who seems to get it is OTD. I'm not saying you're a moron if you take the jump or even suggest it...but you are if you push it as if it's flawless and the bugs are minor, because they aren't in a lot of cases. I'm just saying that a word of caution should be given rather than just, "I HAVE IT OMGZZZZZ IT'S AMAZING, GET IT NOW!!!!"

I can agree with you on that.

Sorry, you missed #3. Those that needed some features such as being able to hang up the phone with the soft key and navigation. Your assumption is like the question, "when did you stop beating your wife?" Well I never beat my wife (although once we got into a fist fight, she won) and I don't fit into category 1 or 2. If my 1.5 was working to my liking and I had navigation as was promised, I might not have flashed. I'm not saying you are not correct in how some think, it's just not everyone.

I'm fine with the way I stated it.

And talk about assumptions, I'm partially referring to pushers here (in the other post I made on this subject), and there are just a few among the leakers and rooters. If you identify with them, you brought that identification to my post, I did not bring it to you.

[EDIT]: I just re-read that.. it looks mean spirited.. I didn't feel that way when I was posting my thoughts. Perhaps a smiley.. one winky one? Well, anyway, I hope you understand what I mean. I can't think of another way to word it right now.

Ugh, this thread is like the cliched mother-in-law. It just won't ****ing die. Let it go already. We've lost a good amount of our knowledgeable, frequent posters and now we're stuck with crap that ask the same question every day because of this.

Yeah, I doubt if it's the foul, childish street language causing knowledgeable posters to sometimes back away.

No offense, Smacky; I get a lot out of your informative posts, but more and more of the over the top drunken sailor words are appearing in forums now. I was hoping that this place was an exception, being as how it is actively moderated.

Not so. They're putting up with those words, as long as they're not reported as personally insulting another member.

And, no, I'm not going anywhere. :D

Exactly what has been confirmed? Sorry but I am a little on the thick side today.

WENDY HAD A GREAT BIRTHDAY

I really don't understand complaining about what other people are talking about. No one is forced to read any of these threads. Besides, some of the side conversations have actually been rather informative to some of us.

Best way to deal with threads you don't like is to not read them.

It's not so much mean spirited, just not inclusive of everyone. Of course I understand. Been there many times.

It may be taking longer than projected for the update to come out but personally i'd rather them take a little longer getting the update out to us and have it be bug free than get an update with a ton of bugs in it that require more updates to fix.
