Metro tether txt message... only $10/mo

Did anyone else get the text message from Metro saying they could get tethering back for only $10 a month?

I guess they figured that update "E" took away tethering, so heck.. they'd sell it back for a fee.

Just sayin'

Its always been $10 you've just been accessing it illegaly till now.

A company with spectrum constraints like metro would be idiotic to give away free tethering

There's another way to look at it. (I'm sure you're surprised ME seeing it... )

If Metro made it easy to tether illegally of course, More people would do it. What that would mean is that the current 50-60 Gb throttle threshold would have to come down so the rest of us could maintain the same usages. And, that in effect would have Metro more "publicly" defying their own "Unlimited Everything" idea. Can't have that...

Theu throttled me down to 100k becuase of over usage on thier unlimited plan.ii never did the latest update. You can revert back to previous firmware versions if you want. The info is in the root section. Does metro allow more data usage if you pay for tethering?

Tethering works fine on D, and I reverted to it after my mishaps with E

When I signed up for the plan I'm on - it said unlimited voice, text and data. Even in the fine print, nothing about no tethering. And the phone tethered without requiring root and such. You just got a warning message that your plan had to include tethering, and... since there was exception for tethering, I just clicked through it and tethered.

Well, technically they didn't use the T word but there IS the verbage about being throttled for unusual network affecting usages or some such. Obviously, tethering would be one of the high rates of data usage that would cause that to happen.

No they dont give you extra data but you can do this
Please note that all tethering activity will go against your shared data bucket. You can top up your data bucket for just $5 per 500MB with Data Top-Up. Top-up today by calling 1-888-8metro8 or by visiting your local MetroPCS store or Authorized Dealer.

Its shown as a optional $10 add-on when signing for the plan.
And its in the ToS

Yeah guess its the tethering they are not as worried about as much as the usage. I think if they have such a severe throttle for usage tethering should be ok. Maybe have high usage plans available. Sooner or later they will have to. Everybody uses wireless. I am looking at using clear.com service. With my google phone number they seem to have a more realistic unlimited service.the mobile modem sulports 8 devices. As long as you not hosting.they call it unattended services. I am homeless and use 3 phones and a laptop on a regular basis. Movies music programs communications. So i need more than metro allows . Unless i pay for 2 plans.

I got mine the first weekend they came out.. one of the very first in the area. None of that was mentioned, offered, or in any ToS I looked at - at that time.

Then again, they changed the plan from unlimited to limited... at the same price... but, I'm usually under the limitation.. whats it 2gb these days?

500MB-for $40 plan
2.5GB-$50
Unlimited 30-X $60

Well the only way youre plan changes is if you change it yourself you can check your plan through the mymetro app.

When metro put the cap on it, my plan went from unlimited to limited, I didn't sweat it, as I didn't, and still dont use the amount. Mine's the $50 (formerly unlimited) 2.5gb plan

Did you check the mymetro app. Because if you didnt change the plan yourself as in buying a new phone and selecting a new plan or call in for a new plan your plan doesn't switch when they announce new plans.

My plan "was" umlimited for $50 when I first got the phone... things changed.

I am currently a MetroPCS 4G LTE customer. How will the service plan changes affect my existing service?

The new 4G LTE Rate Plans will not affect your MetroPCS service as long as you maintain your current service plan. Should you choose to switch plans, you’ll be able to choose from one of the four new 4G LTE service plans.

It was just a general text message. I tried to subscribe to the unlimited tethering on my unlimited $55 plan, and I was not allowed to do so.

It doesn't matter much, I can still tether to my Nexus 7 without any difficulty. My motion is now delegated as a cellular modem for my tablet.

Only for $40 & $50 plans

Right, but I received the message too, even though I'm on the $55 plan. Everyone must have gotten the message was my point.

Such a tease...

I got the txt also. Was this txt only sent out to LG Motion users?

There are probably a lot of uninformed people who didn't know they weren't supposed to be tethering for free, and then they got shutoff after the update. Then I imagine MPCS getting a million calls from people who don't understand why their internet stopped. So I could understand it if MPCS sent out the message primarily for those people.

Ok, they sent it out to everyone, not just LG Motion users. So then it's a bit curious why they would send it out to everyone like that.
