Root Wiimax, LTE, and our phone?

Okay so as most of you know the Samsung Galaxy Victory has been released with 4G LTE. So now I pose a question. The Motorola Photon has the ability to use Wiimax and LTE on Sprint. Can this be done on our phone? And does the Victory have the "Photon" ability?
 
Are you sure the photon can access the Wimax towers along with the lte towers?

To my knowledge, Wimax devices can't access the lte towers, along with lte devices can't access the Wimax towers.

This goes for all devices.

I found nothing about the newest photon (lte) having Wimax frequencies :confused:
 
I highly doubt it would work. But you an always flash a working radio. Give it a shot

In many cases the WiMax antennas aren't even collocated with the LTE antennas, but I guess now that Sprint is purchasing Clear they will all be Sprint antennas.

I've never dug deep into this but I've just always heard and read Wimax devices can't access the lte towers.

But the users that think flashing a radio will give you lte, go for it.

Only you are responsible if/when you brick ;)
 
Okay so yes the photon has the ability to do this (info straight from sprint) second but since the lte antenna isn't so advanced is it possible to do it?

I'm not talking about adding a radio to the 3D. This is a broader topic than that. I'm talking about a new phone made with both LTE and wimax. May as well give it CDMA and GSM as well. If you're really motivated, make it a satellite phone for backup.

That chip would address the actual radio but the firmware and antenna would still need to be duplicated.

It's easier to do that with a portable hotspot than a phone which is probably why that's the only device available from Sprint that has both WiMax and LTE.

I really think Sprint is going to a lose a lot of customers by offering only LTE capable phones when many areas still have WiMax and no LTE available.

That's like phasing out Flash support on Android phones when there's still millions of sites running Flash still.

My company installs equipment and splices fiber at the base of cell towers for backhaul. Our customer isn't any of the Big-Boys...we work for a local fiber provider who the Big-Boys all use for backhaul in our area. We've installed next generation muxes for all the Big-Boys indirectly through this customer. Right now, we're in the middle of a Sprint rollout...2011 and 2012 were big years for Verizon, TMobile, and a little Sprint as well. AT&T does their own thing around here (they probably have their own fiber network) so we don't get to play in their cabinets and huts.
