Battery Life Abnormally Horrible

joshua.worth

I've owned over 30 different Android handsets and several Nexus 7's and I've never had a phone with such short battery life even my HTC Thunderbolt with a 1400mah battery LTE (which had terrible battery life) wasn't as bad as this. I had 3 batteries for that phone looks like I'll need 5 to get through the day with my abnormal usage.

I did notice Android OS is one of the main culprits it shows it not allowing the device to go into deep sleep at all. Any tips are welcome advanced tips preferably I know all the basic turn off GPS and syncing and none of that is the issue I've never shut any of that off on any phone and have had decent battery life for my usage patterns.

Im with you on this one , the battery life on this phone sucks . I carry a portable charger and extra battery . The only solution I can think of is dimming the light . Theres an app in google play called root dim it should lower your brightness even lower then the stock lets you . You should also be carefull of your batt temp , if it gets hot . Try to take the cover off or go some where fresh . When batt gets hot , it starts to drain life even faster then normal . Might now work but its worth a shot seeing no one has found a solution to our battery draining issue . Everyone is trying new stuff .

you have to understand that most people use it to text and call . Others for gaming , others for networking . Like facebook go sms twitter gmail . Just examples , there plenty of social networking apps that use up a whole lot battery . Running in the background most of the time . Unless you can tell us what apps your running , its really hard to tell you what you should do . Some people might have go sms ( it eats up a lot of battery) . Perhaps freezing the app while not in use could save your battery . I have never frozen an application , but it might work . You might have droidwall also which can stop any internet communication with mostly any app to prevent it from using 4g/wifi when your not using it . Im sure everyone has that one though . Look at your battery usage , if theres an app using a lot of batt that you could live without uninstall . It might just give you that little extra batt life .

I get at least 15-20 hours, and I text a lot and play games and use facebook, google chrome and instagram. A lot of other users here get good battery life too.
I just tried using Juice Defender (It was great on my old Admire) as well. I put my phone on airplane mode when im underground (I have a long subway commute) and turn off data when I don't need it. I make it though the day fine.

My battery is all over the place sometimes. Mostly I get 10 to 13 hours or so with about 2 hours screen on time. Though sometimes it will die within 7 to 8 hours! I suppose it just depends on what I'm doing and signal strength.

I'm trying that Snapdragon battery app thing though I might just uninstall it since I don't really notice any improvement but I will keep it for a few more days.

I beg to differ, the battery life on my motion has been by far the best out of all my phones.

Yea this greatly depends on the person, for me this phone has more than enough battery life, I listen to pandora ~4 hours a day (mostly on wifi at work), play some hill climb racing and some reckless racing every now and then. And browse forums regularly.

Has always lasted me a whole day.

Not always over 24Hr but has never left me without charge

Lmao look at the dramatic difference

What is your screen on time when you get those 24+ hours on battery days?

Iv noticed that widgets drain the battery , also every time you open up an application and try to close it . Iv read that trying to force close it uses a lot of energy . Its not going to stay closed , maybe just for a sec .

I took screenshort of all that but there in some folder in who knows where, these were the only 2 that were in my desktop. But screen is always medium/low brightness)

Well I shut off Instant Upload, Picasa Web Album, Google Music, and Google photos all from syncing and now I have normal battery life not great but much improved so guess I can't have those features on this device and I'm sure it due to LG's lame software being mashed on top of Android but oh well I'm just bidding time until I get another Nexus 4.

Have you tried turning auto-sync off? That might help plenty.

Like I said I stopped syncing a select few things and everything is normal I'm not going to stop syncing everything I can live without those few things for a month or so till I get rid of this piece of LG trash

If you're still getting any kind of problem, look for BetterBatteryStats. If you figure out how to use it (which really doesn't take long), you can find out what keeps your phone awake while you're not using it with ease and do what you need to do about it.

That being said, I get great mileage with my Motion, even after 17+ hours and moderate usage.

Nope problems already been solved as stated here previously.

That's weird, and I read that you said syncing was causing it. I get about 14 hours, and all my syncing is turned on. That's why I think it's a rouge app, or bad battery. Good luck man, hope your new phone is better. ;)
