I use my just as a voice mail service. I love it. I HATE voice mail, so having them transcribed and sent as a SMS is just awesome. Even when the transcription is borked (which is as often as not) I at least can listen to it on my PC and in the order I want. I can skip the ones that I already know the content of (e.g. when they call again and get through).

This is probably true for "visual voice mail" in general, but like the DVR I consider this a must have modern convenience.

I too setup my google voice last week. I used to have youmail and I was paying $6.99 a month for 50 transcribed voicemails per month. Although google is free, it's transcribing capabilities are far worse than youmail.

Kinda amazing that this thread has almost 2,000,000 page views isn't it? I remember joining this thread back on page 56 and I thought that was a large thread already.

Yep, and only in 2 months and a week. Just for some perspective and comparison at the growth rate of this thread, I'm part of another thread over at notebookreview.com for the HP HDX Dragon. It is on 1031 pages, but only 750k views. And it's been open since Sept. 2007.

With threads like this, who needs television?!
On an incredible note, I certainly hope that one of my local stores (BB or VZW) has some accessories available on release day. I'll definately need a case, car charger, and would like a car mount! And, I like to buy all the goodies the day I get the devices!

Thanks! So.. no GV users here?
I've used it for about a week. It's a little cluttering up in my inbox since I'm getting voicemails to my phone, emails to gmail and also a copy of my google voice account (which you can play the voicemail over your computer, which is pretty slick)

I realize when I get the Incredible I'll try to avoid the text service so will uncheck the box to have SMS sent to phone, so one less copy to read.

Don't know if I'll be using GV app on phone or Gmail on phone to respond to texts, and am a little confused about the larger picture myself?

Any input would be appreciated...

So, you didn't sign up for the number? You only signed up for the voice mail? Is that correct?

Seems cool and I figured if I signed up for the number now then I could have a better chance of getting the number I wanted than waiting.

If you choose to get Google Voicemail does it just integrate it into your current number? Can I do the same thing even though I choose to pick a new number?

i wonder where the cheapest place will be to get all the extras. verizon is always high dollar.

I'm not sure on "official" policy, but I've both ordered phones online (last 4 or so) and bought phones in store, and have had no problem bringing either in for repair at a Verizon store. My old LG Venus (BIGGEST POS EV.ER.) was replaced 4 times in store, even after warranty, for problems I had with it.

Same goes for my current BBerry Storm (1). I ACTUALLY bought my original storm on Ebay, brought it in store when the screen failed to "wake up" on day - - and because the person I'd bought it from still had warranty, they replaced it on the spot for free.

Hope this helps a bit?

Most of my phones have been purchased online as well and I've had the same experience. I think another thing people are confused about is the process of sending a phone back.

Verizon sends you a new phone (Next Day Delivery) in a box with a pre-printed FedEx shipping label in it. You activate the new phone put your old phone in the same box, throw the FedEx label on it and ship it back (within 10 days). You're never really without a phone and it costs nothing for you.

If your store DOES have a phone in the store to replace it they will, if not this is the process you ave to go through.

Regarding incoming calls. Is there a way to use caller id? Since the number is routed through Google.
