So what every happened to this week long "journey" Big Red promised.....

I know a journey of a thousand steps starts with 2 steps but if you ask me the 2 steps from yesterday sucked.....how are we to get to the end of this journey if we don't take steps every day!

Step it up Big Red!!!!
Verizon's idea of a "journey" is like a big fat guy that had to park at the back of the parking lot and walk to the door...They get going kind of quick, but quickly become winded and require rest every few steps. Sure he'll get there, but its gonna be a while.

Yeah, I know in reality that I really don't belong here as I don't really have anything significant to say and to share. However, I really like it here. Perhaps when my new Incredible comes, I'll be quieter. I do, however, have a great deal of enthusiasm for this new phone. That's about it.

Carry on.

I'd rather have 100 non-informative but exuberant Stephen58 posts about how excited you are for the Incredible than a single page worth of posts about totally off-topic things like sports, etc.

Two quick comments

#1 As far as I can see, IMHO, Anon has been doing an awesome job! This is the first time I have posted, although I have been on here for a while waiting for my Incr with the rest of these fine fellow techies.

#2 How about keeping this one open for a bit after we have our new toys in hand??? We could compare tips etc. while we play? Just a thought.

Can't help but add a Thank YOU! to all who post on here. You have all been keeping me entertained during this wait.

#1 ... Couldn't agree more, Well done Anon! (Nice job with the Phandroid Watermarks)

#2 ... Once they close this thread maybe we can start an ***Official Incredible Release*** thread. Not to mention a ton of other specific to every little feature of the phone will pop up, like a "Tips & Tricks" Thread (Always my Favorite with a new phone).

On a side note: 1000 THANKS!!

(which is amazing to me as I am more of an annoyance than anything else. I know it.)

Everyone needs a little comic relief. I've been in some forums where everyone is more on-edge than a meth head who just took his last hit. I must say this is the most civil forum.. or I should say thread that I've been on!

Also, gotta love those who have a God complex just because they have a little information. Those guys are truly entertaining.

So as far as rebates go I've heard a couple of different things and I was curious as to if there was anyone that could clarify. If you go into VERIZON and get the Incredible for $300 and there's a $100 rebate how does that work.

I've heard that at this point the whole process only takes a couple of weeks, is this true or am I looking at a 6 week wait? Ive also heard conflicting reports of what the rebate is ... Is it a gift card to Verizon, a gift card to ANYWHERE, a check, a credit on your account?

And does anyone know HOW you go about receiving the rebate, do you Mail in for it, register online, call in for it? I was hoping someone that has recently gone through this process could answer some of these questions for me.

rebate can take anywhere from a couple of week to six weeks, depending on how fast it processes...they ahve always been pretty quick for me. The rebats are now coming on visa cards, all you have to do is do a cash advance for the rebate amount anywhere that processes visa cards..... as for how you get it, you cut the upc/bar code off of the box you new phone comes in, and you fill out the rebate form the store gives you and mail it in, then wait.

Hey... just set up Google Voice for my upcoming Incredible. Is anyone currently using it? Thoughts?

I use my just as a voice mail service. I love it. I HATE voice mail, so having them transcribed and sent as a SMS is just awesome. Even when the transcription is borked (which is as often as not) I at least can listen to it on my PC and in the order I want. I can skip the ones that I already know the content of (e.g. when they call again and get through).

This is probably true for "visual voice mail" in general, but like the DVR I consider this a must have modern convenience.

Nice analogy! :D

On the subject of Off-Topic posts I fit into the category of (they don't bother me). If I'm in a hurry I look for "Thanked" posts and skip the rest (even if it is 5 pages worth). But I can also say on those rare occasions when I REFRESH and the last post is something I've already read ... I'm disappointed.

I also believe that the people that DO stumble across breaking information know they can come HERE to report it and they know that their NEW information will get out quickly. They know that they can come here to share their excitement and get instant feedback on it.

If I managed to dig something up I’m not going to post it on some obscure forum, I'm gonna post it here. I think this thread has become the definitive Incredible thread for new information. I believe its success is largely due to the way it flows and the more success it has, the more information its member will dig up.

Anonimac you do an excellent job as our moderator and like I said I really would like to keep this thread going after we have it in hand. Tips, tricks, heck maybe we will be the first to root. I just think we can keep the moderating up to the moderator.

New guy here..been lurkin for awhile now. I never had anything to contribute so I never posted anything before but this is a safe place (relatively ;)) right? Thanks to everyone on here, It really has been an enjoyable thread to read for the past few weeks.

I have the answers you seek. Sorry it took so long to post after you asked the question, but I wanted to scan the posts after yours first to make sure someone hadn't already responded.

The Verizon rebate process is very simple and fast. You can mail it in or fill it out and submit on line. The rebate comes in the form of a rebate card which can be used anywhere credit cards are accepted. I believe the message we received after doing one a couple months ago said to expect 6-8 weeks for delivery, but I think we got our card in a couple weeks tops. I believe that covers everything you asked. Take care. :D

Dammit! You all ruined it by giving me more thanks! ;)

Thanks just aren't what they used to be. Back in [no one in-particular's ;)] day, a "Thank You" was scribed on a sheet of parchment with one's trusty quill and inkwell.

Nowadays, "Thanks" are transferred all willy-nilly like with little more effort than a flick of one's finger.

Someone close to Steven58 should make sure he's not going soft on us by ensuring he has to go uphill both to and from the Verizon store to get his Incredible. And make sure the Verizon employee doesn't dupe him into buying an extended cord for his Incredible too!

I like this place
