Root Thinking about rooting

I have rooted all my past phones before and have had success with most of them. As for rooting this LTEVO are there any stable cm builds and as for battery life is it worth rooting for to get better battery life without sacrificing too much performance. Also I have the latest update thanks the the guys at sprint who updated the phone when I bought it so how easy is it to root this phone?

There are stable cm builds available. At least 4.1.2 jelly bean. There are 4.2.1 jelly bean roms, but they're less stable. I get better battery life with custom roms than I so with stock. Every custom ROM gets better battery life for me, better performance too. But your millage may vary. I think it's super easy to root and since you have rooting experience it shouldn't be a challenge.

All you basically do is: unlock bootloader, flash twrp recovery, flash new ROM. There are much more detailed guides available here. With the latest update I think you have 2 options to get s-off: Facepalm and DirtyRacun. Both are pretty much automated I believe. Emphasis on pretty much.

I don't have much experience with the latest OTA, but if you need help with rooting I or one of the many other helpful people can help.

Ok thanks for the info just one more question... I read something about you have to use a 32bit windows or ubunto and only a usb 2.0 port. Is that true? I ask because my only computer it 64bit windows 7 and both my 2.0 ports don't work but my 3.0 does lol.

i believe that folks have been successful with using 64 with no issues. i used lazypanda and a live cd so i can't verify it, but i think you should be fine with 64. however, it is recommended that you use usb 2.0. not sure what will happen on 3.0......do you have access to another computer?

I may ill have to check when I get home from work. But I don't do a lot of flashing except for the beginning trying to fond the right rom. But if my only goal is to get more battery life is it worth rooting?

I had to install the 32 bit Ubuntu libraries when I used the 64 but Ubuntu. It's really easy, just one simple command in terminal. I don't remember the exact command, but Google can tell ya.

I'd say it's worth it to root. With some setups I've been able to get 2 days of moderate use without charging it. Plus rooting gives you FULL control of your phone. And 99% of custom roms come with the app Wifi Tether, eliminating the need for PDAnet. I used to use PDAnet, but switched to Wifi Tether adder rooting because it's simpler and more reliable in my opinion.
