Root [Boost Mobile] [ROM] DroidSmith 1.7.3 Update and Full

jimsmith80

Android Expert
DroidSmith is a rom based on the B10 release of gingerbread for the ZTE Warp. It is a basic rom that focuses on system stability.

Credit goes to MrBobo for the deodexed B10 base. - Thank you

Credit for putting up with my questions and helping me implement the extended power menu goes to - Mercury0x000d. - Thank you, and thanks in advance for the future questions I will have lol.

What's inside the rom:
Alien Kernel modified for DroidSmith

LatinIME.apk from 2.3.7 modded for the ZTE Warp. That means working suggestions.

Modified B10 ramdisk with flashlight fixed an modified low memory killer

Boat browser - Replaced by modified stock browser in version 1.5.5 - Replaced by modified Miren Browser in 1.5.6 - Replaced by boat mini in 1.7

FTL Launcher - Replaced by Launcher2.apk in Version 1.2.1

XT9 keyboard

Plans for the future:

Modded android keyboard with auto correct - Added in Version 1.3.

Improved theming

and much much more

Known issues:
First boot takes a while, and the boot animation has been disabled. Don't worry it will boot, and it rocks along after the first boot. LCD Density Changer may be denied super user permission on the first try, but will work fine after that.

Installation Instructions:

Prerequisites: You must have a custom recovery (e.g. CWM or TWRP) installed to be able to load this ROM. DroidSmith is not for all versions of the ZTE Warp, only Boost Mobile customers. A version for Public Mobile is not available.

1. Download the most recent version from the download center above to your SD card.
2. Reboot into recovery.
3.
Make a complete backup of your device!!
4. Use the
install from zip (CWM) or Install (TWRP) option to navigate to where you saved the DroidSmith ROM on your SD card and select it.
5. When the installer script finishes, reboot your phone.

This is a custom rom. follow the instructions and use at your own risk. Myself and any contributing parties are not responsible if you render you phone unusable "bricked".

Version 1.7 - Reworked updater script so that apps can be flashed to the data partition on install (Phandroid, Terminal, and Boat Mini). DTMs kernel has now been replaced by Alein Kernel 3 modified for DroidSmith.Standard swap file has been replaced with zram swap. Settings menu has been reworked. LCD Density Changer has been added to settings.

Version 1.7.1 - Replaced Throttle.smali in Services.jar. It had nothing to do with throttling of 3g speeds, and removing it causes Mobile Data in the settings menu to FC. Fixed zRam script.

Alternate Kernels:

Everyone please pass a thanks onto DM47021 for this one. He built the Kernel
http://androidforums.com/boost-mobi...l-dm47021-updated-3-0-gosh-i-update-alot.html

Both versions of this kernel default to 1.4 ghz performance governor. These were the defualts DM47021 set the kernel at. If you want to change those values just run a cpu governor app like voltage control, or set cpu.

Alien Kernel 3.0 Updated for B10 roms. Do not use with DroidSmith

Alien Kernel 3.0 modified for B10 based DroidSmith.
If you still need more speed then this is for you. Alein Kernel for DroidSmith will put you in the 7500s. This is Kernel is included in the base rom from version 1.7 on

DroidSmith Xperia Pack:

For those who would rather run Xperia Home as opposed to Launcher2, here is the DroidSmith Xperia Pack. The Pack removes launcher2 and replaced it with Xperia Home.

Thanks. I think you will like it. It's not everything I wanted at this point, but if I waited until I thought it was done it never would have seen the light of day. That said it is a rock solid base.

I hear you... that's why I released the series 1.xx versions of WOEM... I figured if I didn't start somewhere it would never be right.

I actually started work on B08C. The update to B10 almost got me give up. In the end it worked out for the better. This time around I made the edits to the rom myself rather that lumping other devs work together into a rom

Photo bucket is free, but you have to upload to them then copy paste here.

Tapatalk is a few bucks, but easier to upload directly to the forum.

Photo Bucket images are much bigger in comparison to the tapatalk images.

Your thinking about actual Tapa

Smooth and quick, looks good to, gonna run it for a few and work it over. Nice job!

Update: Rom runs well, handles quite a load. Get faster benchmark with Alien Kernel, and CPU control i/o scheduler is cfq not sio dunno why but setting is not there. All in all good daily driver, nice job!

No other way to go, man :D

It's always better to do as much as you can (and sometimes a little more lol) all by yourself. I've learned so much that way!
