Root ok getting ready to root which guide to use?

i will go with the MikG as it has a user i know i can trust for support <o.O> . wish i knew more about the rom options. choosing an os sounds like something i should look into since my needs are so different from the regular user

well since you are not needing it as a phone really, i would suggest an aosp rom. they are small in size and have better performance and battery life.

how do i load superwipe onto my sd card... this would be the first time its mentioned in the dummy guide so it might be a good idea to add a drop down how to ther... just a thought

it is the same way all phones can transfer files to the sd card. hook the phone to the pc and change from charge only to disk drive. a popup window should appear and then you can move the file over to the card.

well that sucks I was hoping to open up the folder and maybe choose one i had heard of but unfortunately i have heard of all three and can only make a choice based on name cuteness Ice cream sandwich, Ginger bread and Jellybean. I'm leaning toward JB since we are so close to easter but my resident cuteness expert (my 12yo daughter) is sleeping.

Anyone have a link to a place where i can make a more informed decision?

could the evo not be reading my sd card? how would i format the sd card i just purchased it yesterday sandisk 32gb class 10

well to me JB and ICS are not all that on the og evo. most of them are slow compared to aosp roms.....but go for it. give them a try. i believe a lot of peeps like strike as the ics rom of choice. i have yet to find a jb rom for the og evo that works well for me.

you can find most roms and kernels here:

you can go into your phone setting/sd card storage/unmount card/format card.

and since you are formatting the card you might want to think about partitioning the card as well. if you run a2sd, you can way more apps on the sd card then the phone can normally hold.

more info is in the second post of the guide about partitioning and such.

130 am maybe im in stupid mode. I can't figure out how to get in fastboot unchecked powered up

yeah i can't even understand your question:p:D

there are two fastboots. one is on the phone and is called fastboot becuase when you power off the phone with it checked it just puts the phone into sleep mode so that it boots up faster.....kind of dumb feature if you ask me.

and then there is fastboot which is as mode found in the bootloader. you have to be powered up to have fastboot unchecked. but if you are already in the bootloader then there is no need to do it. you can even pull the battery out and then hold the power+vol down to get into the bootloader and then recovery.

NICE!!!!!

now you will need to be on a rom that has either a2sd built in or a rom that has support for it......most roms will have at least support.....mikg has it cooked in while i believe deck's reloaded has support for it.

ok finished partitioning but here's the thing i noticed when i have the usb connected to the pc it shows no sdcard when it disconnects the sd card mounts whats the deal?

well that makes some sense. it is unmounted when connected to the pc and mounted when not connected.....is this is what happens?

also what size partition did you do?

Yes thats exectly it

2048

so on the phone when it is connected to the pc, you can't access the card from the phone thus that is why it is unmounted to the phone (cuz it is mounted to the pc) and when you disconnect it from the pc it remounts so that you can now access the card from the phone....hope that makes sense.

and two gigs is a lot, but you have 32g so that is awesome!!!!.

i thought the windows that was opening up was for the htc not the sdcard/ i was looking for the sdcard didn't realize i was opening the sdcard up sorry.
