I think Google does a pretty good job, though their devices don't cater the the masses like Samsung's do now. I'm still really looking forward to Google I/O, and was looking forward to it way more than this Samsung event.

Yeah, here's the problem. I get it Samsung, you were going for the mainstream phone buyers with that prrsentation. But one little problem... Mainstream buyers don't watch product unveilings! Geeks do!
I just can't believe that Sammy hasn't lost the home button yet. Come on, Samsung, it's 2013 for cryin' out loud!

It's true. Most normal people don't know or care about these things. Certainly was horrendous to watch, but I doubt it's going to hurt them in the normal people crowd that they're aiming for.
It makes them unique, even if it is for the worse.

Here's the thing, if the S4 didn't have the home button, the iphone would be the only one that did. Making the S4 the sand as everything else. Clearly having a home button works, or Samsung withstand have sold over 40 million S3's. Of all the things a phone can do these days, is a physical home button "really" a deciding factor? If it is, for some people, maybe they need to get out more?
It's like having a microwave/combo oven that has a push to press or a soft touch start button, who really cares as long as it cook's your food right?

Well you will find most in here adhere to the notion that the closer to pure Android the better.
JB (and ICS) were designed with three soft buttons at the bottom of the screen. Any deviation from this is making things messier than they should be. But it does differentiate them from the other manufacturers, and their bottom line shows it sure ain't hurting them... I don't mind having different configurations. That is kind of the point of Android.

Yes, you'll find nexus users will swear by the software buttons over physical or capacitive buttons for a number of reasons. These can range from loyalty to pure android, ability to modify the amount, appearance, or function of them. Some like to remove them completely so that they have a larger screen. Also this means they don't have to waste space on the device to put the buttons, it can be all screen.
Yeah, that home button is (a) fixed and unmovable; (b) dedicated and unchangeable; and (c) creates more bezel than necessary. More bezel = less screen or bigger phone. Soft keys just make more sense.

Morning folks! Didn't watch the S4 unveilling but I did read about it late last night. Looks like a nice phone but I'm not sure the smart scroll and smart pause or even the air gesture thing would be anything I would use. It may be great for some people, but I don't see a situation where I would honestly use it.
Looking forward to the Note 3 whenever it's announced. Depending on it's specs and features, it may be my next phone. I really like the concept of the Note but I may find it more useful in tablet form than phone form. If that's the case I may go with another Nexus phone and a Note tablet.
For you Nexus folks still in here, what ROM are you running? I'm getting tired of JellyBelly JBX or whatever they call it now. Lots of connection problems on it, both to wifi and mobile data. Thinking about going back to Sourcery or AOKP.

Interesting reads about the S4 "performance" last night... We got a phone call from a friend last night, and apparently I was too tired to chat, and crashed before getting to watch it live. Although, after reading through here and other places... A spec sheet is perfectly fine for me, I don't need to watch it.. Lol we are still in the looking mode for a new phone for my wife. Wonder if she will let me take her upgrade for an S4? And she can have Nexy... I wonder if I want to do that... Just want a new Nexus!

I can see your points, and while valid, I still don't see that it should be a deciding factor when choosing your phone. But, variety and diversity are all good. I'm curious though, if the S4 didn't have its physical button and softkeys, would it honestly make you seriously consider it as a viable alternative to the nexus?

My problem with Samsung is Radios. they have been subpar on VZW for a while now, and my office is in a low signal area. until they improve those... Not getting another samsung no matter how awesome the rest of the phone is.

Btw... Wanted to just mention here, see what kind of feed back my WH family has for me...
Little back story, some of you may have read my quick bit on my injuries.. Anyways, since then always had problems sleeping very long. 3-5 hours at a time. No problem falling asleep, I can fall asleep in 2 min. Literally. It's the staying asleep. My wife tells me I have inconsistent breathing when I sleep, basically stop breathing for several minutes then gasp, then a little later, same thing. Anyways, Dr. Says it's probably a side affect from the meds so they want me to have a sleep study. Since there is nothing FDA approved that keeps you asleep, only different meds like ambien and lunesta that help you go to sleep they can't prescribe something... Good I said, I don't need more meds.
Anyone ever been through a sleep study? Any other suggestions?
I am doing my research... And want to feel a little more comfortable about the whole thing before doing the study.

The only reason I'm considering a samsung is because I'm highly considering going to Straight Talk when my VZW contract is up and going over to a GSM HSPA network. I think their phones perform just fine on those if I'm not mistaken.
