Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Btw... Wanted to just mention here, see what kind of feed back my WH family has for me...

Little back story, some of you may have read my quick bit on my injuries.. Anyways, since then always had problems sleeping very long. 3-5 hours at a time. No problem falling asleep, I can fall asleep in 2 min. Literally. It's the staying asleep. My wife tells me I have inconsistent breathing when I sleep, basically stop breathing for several minutes then gasp, then a little later, same thing. Anyways, Dr. Says it's probably a side affect from the meds so they want me to have a sleep study. Since there is nothing FDA approved that keeps you asleep, only different meds like ambien and lunesta that help you go to sleep they can't prescribe something... Good I said, I don't need more meds.
Anyone ever been through a sleep study? Any other suggestions?
I am doing my research... And want to feel a little more comfortable about the whole thing before doing the study.

Sounds like sleep apnea to me ( not that I'm a doctor, just a Chief ;) ). The Darling Bride went through one... best night's sleep of her life, since there were no kids, no ME, no noise or distractions. Well then, THAT didn't work :p

^I was going to say the same. Sounds like sleep apnea. My grandfather underwent a sleep study not long ago. No big deal from what I understand.

Sounds like the Chief nailed it. My brother did it and they gave him some contraption to force oxygen into his lungs while he sleeps. He said it was uncomfortable at first, but he swears by it now and says he's never slept better in his life. That was probably 8-10 years ago.

So if you had to choose between the HTC One and the Galaxy S4, which would you choose?

Also Sourcery has been really buggy on my phone lately and the Kernel it comes with, besides having really good standby time on 4G, will not connect to my Wifi at home, which is awful. Then I flash Franco and my Wifi is fixed by my standby time is very meh.

Might try Eclipse this weekend - we will see. Although I am getting tired of switching ROMs over and over again. Ugh.

Same here Stig. Getting tired of switching over and over and over again. I've run JBX as long as I can stand it. Connectivity issues are awful on it. I've got to find something better. Honestly don't even care about customization anymore, just functionality.

Sourcery reboots at least once a day for me and I am constantly dropping connection on new and old radios. And then randomly it will lag like crazy and just hang on the home screen or at an app load screen.

Pup - you like Eclipse so far? Hows battery life and performance?

I wish I knew ROM development because there are really only three things I would absolutely love to have in my custom ROM:

1. Different lock screen wallpaper vs home screen wallpaper.
2. Quick Unlock - not hitting OK after entering PIN.
3. Clocked centered in notification bar.

Hear Hear.

Antimony is on the money as far as I'm concerned. I'm convinced the "one way calling" issue was Verizon and Sammy's radios especially in the Colorado area, since blogs had complainers like me. Sort of like I live at area 51 and keep seeing lights in the sky.

I am probably going to look the S4 over closely, and am this close to switching to Sprint to save some dough.

Even though I have unlimited, I'm paying $115 a month, with only 900 talk minutes.

I either have the choice of good radios, or poor battery life. Wednesday on my road show, with my phone turned to airplane mode for half the day because I was testifying in court, the battery was kaput by 6 pm.

Radios are still sketchy, but at least somewhat usable. I still say my 10 year old blackberry made and received better phone calls given the area I drive around.

I'm ready for a change.

Contract ends with Verizon what, in November, so it's $35 a month x 8 months, that sound about right?

My problem with Samsung is Radios. they have been subpar on VZW for a while now, and my office is in a low signal area. until they improve those... Not getting another samsung no matter how awesome the rest of the phone is.

Eclipse? hmmm, never even heard of it

It's what I run on my Gnex and Nexus 7, and I like it. The fact that it's totally inverted is nice looking and great on battery, it comes pre-baked with a modified version of LK, and has most standard customizations (Softkeys, lock screen targets, toggles, etc). Only downside is that it's still on 4.2.1, but the dev said 4.2.2 should come this week if there's no setbacks.

Oh its fully inverted? Ehhh not sure how I feel about that.

I will do some research tonight then.

Maybe I will just load CM10 and be done with it. I just hate switching between ROMs over and over again. Maybe Sourcery is fine with a different kernel.

I loved all of Sourcery's features, but I also found it laggy and the battery life was unacceptable for my use level, even with a 3800 mAh battery. I went from averaging 4 hours of screen time, to 6 hours on Eclipse. Now that I'm back to the stock (2100mAh) battery for the time being, I average about 3.5-4 hours of screen depending on where I am because of signal. Standby is pretty decent too.

Stigy,
That one I linked above is about as close to stock as you can get without an OTA. Hell, it isn't even rooted. You could then try and apply mods for the few things you want to change.

Yeah saw that Shiny ROM - might give it a look as it seems to allow the user to apply certain MODs via flashable zips and I kinda like that concept.

Stock ROM and then a la carte as needed.

I'll decide over the weekend, but I am going to give Sourcery + LK a try over the weekend see how it works out.

Anyone else seen the rumors about the Motorola X phone? If they are true, that will ABSOLUTELY be my next phone! Customizable hardware, built to order, carrier-free, and aimed at being affordable!

I would be amazed if they pull this off depending on the customizations you can do. I may be carrying my imagination too far with the amount of customization, but imagine a phone where you place an order and choose between 2-3 different sizes (maybe a smaller ~4", a ~5" and maybe a phabletish ~6"), different screen quality...maybe quality goes up with size with the 4" being entry quality, 5" being 720p, and 6" being 1080p, a couple of different processors, 1GB or 2GB of RAM, 16-64GB onboard storage, and data ranging from 3G GSM to full on HSPA+ or LTE. Price range from $199 for a minimal storage/memory/3G phone to $600 full a loaded out one. Maybe they have less options in mind, maybe they are more ambitions than even my imagination, but even a little bit of choice and flexibility would be amazing!

I think rumors are going to be pretty wild, just like pre-Gnex release. Google I/O can't come fast enough.

Build your own phone is definitely an interesting step. I kind of like it. Except I'm going to always be getting the most expensive of everything. :) :p

I had a sleep study and hated it. You have electrodes all over you and a tube with a sensor under your nose. BUT, it was one of the best decisions I've made because I had SEVERE sleep apnea and since being on the CPAP machine I've slept really well most of the time. It did take me quite awhile to get used to the mask as it made me claustrophobic but it's really worth it to get the study done.
