My guess for why the Devour wasn't the Droid Devour is because it is not a with Google phone. Since it has Motoblur and an older version of Android. Just my .02.

Why would it not being a "with Google" phone have anything to do with Verizon using the Droid brand? I'm not following that logic.

They are trying to create a brand around a line of smartphones that people will associate as top-of-the-line, premium phones. They are a long way down that road. When the Droid Incredible comes out, the average person will have an idea of what it's all about after being inundated with Droid commercials for the last 5 months. The Devour doesn't fit very well with that.

It'll be interesting to see if that is the actual name, or if it's another case of an initial posting that will be corrected when we see the official release. It seems to me that HTC, like Motorola, would have to get a licensing deal from LucasFilm to use the moniker " " 'Droid' Incredible " as that company holds the TM for "Droid".

Actually, when we did the licensing research here a couple of weeks ago, Verizon is the company that actually licensed the term "Droid" from LucasFilms. Even if that weren't the case, you already have an HTC Droid Eris on the market utilizing that trademark.

so when this bad boy hits where are we going to go for questions about this phone? are we going to open a new forum?

You are currently posting in a thread that live in an HTC Incredible forum.

These types of questions are easy answered with a bit of common sense and less than a minute of poking around.

The NE2 - is this a special program you have to sign up for?

It's Verizon's New Every 2 program. After 2 years (actually 20 months now), you can get an extra discount toward a new phone. You must be on a plan that is at least (I beleive either $50 or $60) or more and have not used an annual upgrade on that line in those 20 months. Primary lines are also the only ones who qualify (no Family Share secondary lines i.e. $9.99). It used to be $100 dollars, now its $50. Hope that helps.:)

i can't recall there being an sku# for the incredible, but if anyone has it, try calling csr and ordering by the sku#. Last year when i was waiting for the env touch, i called, gave them the sku# and they were able to order the phone 2 weeks before launch.

Just a thought..

awww! my bf just sent me an article talking about the website from this morning even though I'm supposed to be on hush-hush mode with my incredible obsession ..how nice, too bad it wasn't a surprise =P

anyone else getting the same response from family/friends?

I think im gonna hold off on buying the Incredible in till I see what the new iPhone has to offer. Rumors are saying that its gonna have a 960x640 display which is almost double the resolution of the Incredible ( Actually 2.5 times sense the Incredible's OLED screen is really 392x653 ). It is also rumored to have 720p video capture. HD video recording is number one on my want list. If the iPhone does have this im just gonna wait for a phone with similar specs to come to Verizon.

I wouldn't want to give up androids free market for a little better specs.

I don't believe Verizon will make an official anouncement until mid next week for two reasons;

1) Verizon has a 3/4 page ad today in my local paper which includes, "Limited-time offer for our non-Smartphone customers, Get your Smartphone early. Now our non-Smartphone customers can trade up to any 3G smartphone at any point in their contract, at our best prices.
DON'T WAIT FOR THE SMARTPHONE YOU WANT."

2) I stopped in the local Verizon store today and asked the manager when they would have the HTC Incredible in their store. He said, "by the end of the month but here's my card, call me the 21st I should have a definate date.

On another note for those inquiring about Costco, the Incredible purchased there will inculde free activation and an accessory bundle.

Does anyone else still have the staging page open in their browser from this morning? I haven't refreshed since I found out it got password protected.

I have the same deal available to me... it's only offered in four markets (as far as I know). According to the internal memo, it is available until 5/1.
