Goodbye & thanks.

Well its been fun for me. But now i got a nexus 4. And i gotta say it freaking awesome:D. I liked to say thanks to everyone. Especially ramjet73 with his always helpful links. Its been a good 3 months.& I hope that people on the xda forum treat me as good as you guys. Anyways thanks for all the help & goodbye !

We've lost another one :(

I watched this happen in the OG EVO forum, and I'm seeing it happen here too. It's sorta sad in a way. You get to know people, and then BAM...they move on. Slowly leaving as the phones start showing their age. Been through it once already, and I suppose I'll be doing it again.

I dunno what we're gonna do when Ramjet, Brian, and Overbyter move on to sweeter phones. :p

Hopefully, I'll have moved on by then :D

I'm not going anywhere until Virgin starts offering a relatively high end HTC LTE device, can you say Evo LTE. :D:cool::thumbup:

I was happy when the Evo V came out. I have the Sprint 3d and my section turned into a ghost town but the Evo V has breathed new life into a community for my phone :)

I keep forgetting that you and Ramjet are both Sprint customers. I can't recall Over Byter and Prinny's carriers...are there any other Guides around these parts? Are any Guides actually EVO V users?

EDIT:

Looks like OB is a VM customer...

OB and Prinny are both on VM. It's basically the same phone though, so the experience can be carried over!

WOW, you weren't kidding. I just went over there to look around, and the ATR subforum has posts into January on the first page. This forum will look like that in about a year or maybe less. Since we're prepaid, there are no contracts to keep us bound. I would assume that given a reasonably priced flagship phone, many of us would bounce.

I myself am in this phone until at least May/June. The end of May marks my return on investment for the EVO V given the $45-50 monthly savings I am seeing by switching from Sprint to VM.

If I upgrade every 6 months though, I'll never save any damn money, which is why I switched from Sprint in the first place. :p

I'll probably be around until:

1. Development comes to a screeching halt (BluRom should be on r-250)
2. Flagship phone is released and after time, drops to $150 or so
3. Black Friday sale makes me an offer I can't refuse on the flagship phone from #2 above.
4. Everyone else leaves :(

I was a 10 year AT&T/BlackBerry user paying over $100 a month for a single line with 500 MB of data when I first saw a Virgin commercial about the first prepaid Android, the Intercept, then the Wildfire S, Triumph and now this phone. And I got each one for full price on release day.:rolleyes:
I will probably keep this phone even after I upgrade, never done that before so it says something about how an inanimate object can grow on you, figure we usually get Sprints year old flagships after a year or so, looking forward to the HTC Evo LTE, second choice would be the SGS3.

I heard my name!

Yeah, I'm a VM user. Though my Evo V died, I still lurk here ;)

Well...it didnt DIE, technically...I killed it. Slammed it in my car door >.>;

So I ended up with a Galaxy Victory.

Since you didn't have WiMax, I personally think that it was accidentally on purpose. :D:p:eek:
How's the new phone dude, any devs working on it yet?
OB

I don't even have LTE ;) So I doubt it would be on purpose.

Honestly? Its smaller. About .3 inches or so smaller. Which is fine, its a 4 inch screen still.

I like it. Its got INCREDIBLE battery. 18% in 8 hours. With more or less default sync options. Gmail, and Ymail. GPS on, refreshing weather etc.

Decent camera. Main reason I got it? LTE will be updated. WiMax unfortunately, will not. There's a town about an hour-hour and a half from me that just got LTE. So we'll see.

Oh I knew that you didn't have LTE yet, we talked about it once, I wasn't thinking that the 4G made you do it, figured it was more along the lines of you *normally* flashing your phone 3 or more times a day that you got bored and wanted new horizons. :p:D
*I really don't think that's normal behavior.

Lol yeahhhh.

I cleaned off my SD card of ROMs, and cleared up 20GB of ROMs. Holy crap. I didn't think I had THAT much >_<

Ah well. No ROM's for this baby yet. But good phone without a ROM. So I can't complain so far.

You are getting lte soon. Trust me. Our crew was in Greenville this week installing fiber muxes at the base of sprint towers for backhaul. We don't turn the muxes up, or climb towers. We splice fiber and install the stuff at the base of the tower. Another crew will be along to provision it and the dare devil crew puts the lte stuff up high.

I can't even begin to estimate how long it takes after we do our part. We are sorta double contacted out.

I HEARD that this area should be getting LTE around April 2nd.

Well, the Anderson area. Which I figure shouldn't be too far off from me afterwards. So I'm assuming mid-late April.

We had over a dozen sites in the Greenville area to do, and we have to go back on Monday to wrap up. They mentioned that some of the sites were 30-45 minutes from each other so when I say Greenville, I mean, the general area.

We've gone down to Greenville several times this year already, this past week is just the latest trip. Oftentimes, what holds us up is waiting on equipment from manufacturers. The whole "just in time" manufacturing model sucks. We've waited weeks and weeks for stuff when the site is ready, and we can't do anything. We've also been to a few sites that simply weren't ready, and we gotta go back after it's discovered that there's no conduit in place.

The only carrier that we haven't installed for is AT&T. They aren't using the same dark fiber provider that Verizon, Sprint, and TMobile are using. Hell, they probably already have their own fiber in the ground...this is Bell South country afterall.

Yeah, its surprising how big Greenville is. So many zip codes.

Can't wait for the LTE though. I keep checking for the 4G symbol on my phone though ;)

Lol I left VM but I didn't leave you guys. :D

Just because some of us decide to throw away VM and go to tmobile doesn't automatically mean we left. This phone is now just a media player pretty much.

I go on these forums daily and help people whenever I can. :)

I have a HTC amaze now and it's really great (better than this phone) but I'm surprised do many people are loyal vm customers after over 2 months of dropouts and lack of data and service. Instead of network vision it seems more like network destruction to me. :p
Well whatever they'll get it done and hopefully sprint will have more lte than 3g.

I kinda like tmobile better but I'm here for you guys!!!

I can assure you, if I had 2 months of no coverage, I'd be gone in a flash. Coming from the OG EVO, to the EVO V...I have NOTHING except good things to say. My service hasn't changed in any way except I am now paying $38.25/mo instead of $95/mo. My 4G connections have more than doubled as well. This phone seems to scan for 4G way more often than my old phone did.

Notice, I said "my service". I don't roam, and don't need to, so I don't need access to Verizon's network. I've always stayed away from TMobile. For some reason, I've viewed them as the "other carrier". I don't know why to be honest. It may have to do with the plans they were pushing years ago where they would claim to give unlimited data, but then throttle it at 500MB. Or advertise they had the largest 4G network...back when they struggled to get over 5Mbps on their version of 4G.

I think they are way more competitive nowadays, and I would consider trying them out if I can get on a plan that's comperable to what I get from VM.

1200 Minutes
Unlimited data (2.5GB throttle)
Unlimited text/msg
$38/mo (using crazygametime to get 15% discount)
