Esteem lover's honest opinion

So I need some advice from my fellow esteem lovers. I've had an unfortunate situation where my lg esteem was swiped and wiped. Now I am without a phone. I waited a few days just to make sure that the person who took it was truly a complete butthead and wasn't planning on returning it. ANYWAY. The time has come for me to replace her. I've been looking at metro and they have quite a few new phones. However i've narrow it down to 2, 1 would be the lg motion, or 2 my original esteem (which i was quite happy with.) Anyone have any advice or experience with using both phones? Would I be satisfied with a motion after having my esteem for so long? I trust you guys to help me make the right decision.

I've replaced both my kids Samsung Admires with Motions as the Admires had become old and damaged and the price on the Motion was right.

The Motion is fast, comes with android 4, and the screen is nowhere near as large or attractive as the Esteems. Also, there doesn't seem to much beyond basic rooting you can do with it. Not much development work going on. (In all honesty I don't follow that because the kids don't want me playing with their phones too much :) )

So it depends on what you want. A slower phone with an older operating system but a much better screen and roming options. Or a much faster phone with a more up to date os but no roming options and more limited screen.

As much as I love my Esteem if it needed replacing tomorrow I don't know if I could go and buy something as old and limiting as it is at this point in time. But the choice is yours......

I say get a newer phone. Nice the Esteem might be, but its old, its tech is, and its dev is slower than 3 christmas's. ;)

I say get the S3 or Spirit tho. ;)

I have noticed the development situation is more frustrating than its lag time. I was quite excited when the lunarui rom had come out but, the dev left it as is with much to be desired (i am grateful he took the time to make it in the first place.) However, the s3 has pratically no internal memory! That is a huge turn off for me. I have a samsung galaxy player5 and at this point am relying on the wifi connectivity to carry me through as a voip phone for awhile. If there were more devs working on this little beast i would honestly just stick with this but, i miss my titanium backup something terrible :-( (perhaps more than i miss the actual phone.) Thank you for the advice!

Do what???

CDMA (dual core) model has @GB of RAM, GSM (quad core) has 1GB RAM.

SO I dont have a clue what you meant by that. lol

I wasnt really refering to the ram itself, more so the internal sdcard. However, i did notice i was misinformed about that as well. Refardless, i think (since you mentioned it in your previous comment) im sincerely interested in the spirit. Sorry for the confusion. ;)

I miss my esteem as my daily but the motion is much faster. Only problem I see in comparison is the camera sucks and the screen is tiny. But it will run laps around the esteem with its eyes closed.

This phone WAS an upgrade from the M860 but I'm sick of being on GB:banghead:
Thinking of holding out for the S4:thumbup:
Btw..I still can't brick or get my Esteem in test mode
(Knock on Fuzzy's head):p

I fired up my old Esteem the other day. It took over 3 minutes to boot. My S3 takes about 20 seconds to cold boot. The Esteem can stay turned off and in the desk drawer.

and to get thru a full day with the battery not dieing is almost impossible :( i had to keep mine off all day (8 hours at work) just to be at 5-10% by time i went to bed that night :( im hoping when PG gets a CM10 itll take care of alot of problems i had with my esteem and maybe one day i can go back to it as my daily :)

I was going to get the S3 but knowing that the S4 was coming out and economic reasons I decided to go with the LG Spirit and so far no regrets. I went from the LG Optimus to the LG Esteem and now to the LG Spirit and I'm liking it very much. I know it's not the S3 with jelly bean but at least I'm out of the gingerbread era, lol, plus I did save some money since I have to buy two (wife) and the savings come up to more than 500. The LG Spirit it's definitely better than the Esteem in many ways I just wish that it could get the same great support that the Optimus and Esteem has cuz it will make the phone even better. The phone out of the box performs really good, you can really see it and feel the difference coming from the Esteem, which I really enjoyed for more than a year (sold it at eBay for 225 with few extra, still have one for back up). Again just wish the Spirit had more support from the greats from the Esteem family. And remember it's just my humble opinion. :)
