Official EVO Rumors and Speculation thread

Well stop me if I'm wrong but, isn't T-Mobile a sponsor to the Transformers movies something like a partnership thing. Now I don't want to be a Buzz Killington and I hope that the EVO will come with preloaded movies. Does anybody know if Sprint was in the big screen?

when the instinct came out there was a bunch of product placement in abc's brothers & sisters. however, i kind of doubt a season of that will be preloaded on the evo.

Sprint was all over Smallville a few seasons ago. I think they had a thing w/ the WB. Maybe well get the WB live in Sprint Tv ;)

I know there probably aren't a ton of NASCAR fans on here, but they [Sprint] typically use the NASCAR All-Star Race to really heavily push their product. You can bet your bottom dollar that there will be a cornerstone of their marketing effort, like it was for the Pre and Instinct (if I remember right).

Edit: Just look at the Driver introduction stage lol

zaaye PM'd me this link to the Verizon HTC Droid Incredible spec sheet.

The specs are actually a little better than I thought they'd be and it's a very nice looking phone. The screen is OLED, not AMOLED, but the rest of the rumored specs look good. No 720p which some of them were hoping for with a 8MP camera and I don't see dual flash either, but it might a flash.

There's no mention of RAM/ROM here and that was one of the controversial specs for the Incredible. All and all a nice phone manufactured by HTC. Congratulations to all the Incredible fans at Android Forums.

I have to agree with you Bill that looks like a pretty solid phone. Still no EVO :) but the loyal Verizon customers get yet another quality built HTC/Android device.

You guys can believe me if you want, I don't really care. I don't have access to as privileged information as SP seems to, I'm also not under an NDA though.

Take it for what it is. *shrug*

I hope everything turns out okay for you guys tomorrow, but from the internal documents I'm reading, tomorrow might not happen. I'm only stating this, because I could see the Sprint bashing aftermath when it happens. This is one of the most friendly, family-like forums I've seen, so I want you guys to remain humble. The phone isn't out yet, because they want to make sure their flagship device doesn't get the Tour 9630 and Pre labels when it comes to early build quality.

Anyway, peace forums. I'll be back in May.
Hopefully we'll get the final released version specs for the EVO tomorrow, but it doesn't look Friday the 16th is going to be a very big event after all.

I really hope we don't get into Sprint bashing if things don't work out. From the comments Self Praise made, Sprint is still trying to get all the details worked out. SP also said "I don't work for Sprint, but I test numerous phone manufacturers devices, with HTC being one of them. The information I've posted were given to my company by Sprint. It's just something about this section, that allured me to give out that information".

I believe Self Praise is for real and I'm going to heed what he says. Jackson pretty much told us the same thing yesterday when he posted an e-mail that he received from his source.
Hey Jackson,
Wow has it been a crazy week around this place! People runnin' left and right trying to bust this thang outa the water. I know we talked about April 16th as release date but i've heard rumors again. You know how that goes with me. I hate it. Sprint is still trying to figure some stuff out. Data and talk seems to be promising. Still could be going down, imma go try and talk to them sales guys. Gotta get my hands on one of these again ;)

Get back to you soon.

Some people have said the phone might be released next month, but other rumblings make me think it probably will be June.

So why not tell us then where you got the info if you're not under NDA

I think I speak for everyone when I say we want to believe you. We really do. At this point, we don't know if the media blitz is going to start tomorrow or not, but it would be nice if Radio Shack is able to start selling the EVO on May 23rd regardless of what happens tomorrow. I have to believe Sprint wants to release the phone as much as we want them too.

Edit: I just visited sprint.com and they're still having problems getting their new website going. No doubt they're getting set up for the big media blitz on their website which would be an integral part of the campaign and that's probably the reason for the rumored delay. I'm hoping that's all there is to it and like LS1 stated, we'll be able to get the EVO from Radio Shack on May 23rd.

Basically everything that I've stated already.

Can you specify if they intend on doing a large marketing campaign at all? I don't really care if they start it or not. I think they should start it as soon as possible, but that's up to Sprint.

My main thing is, if they're not going to announce the formal release date or full "actual" specs tomorrow, when will they do that?

i'm torn between media blitz or not. it was cool to be the only kid on the block with a pre, everyone asking "what's that?" however, lack of buzz killed it. released unbaked, no accessories, no apps.

Sprint obviously has been working all week on this website, maybe it is not going as planned or maybe the testing on the phone and 4G functionality are causing Sprint to back off on the blitz that was going to start on 16th. Anyway you look at it I don't think it will be long before we hear something.

I would personally like to hear from Sprint on 4G Pricing plans and release date.

So if Dan Hesse is following this, just give us this and bring the media blitz when ready!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sprint knows they need to make the announcement before the April 29th date of Verizon Incredible. I have been reading posts from many who are on the fence between getting Incredible or waiting for EVO and with no actual release date Sprint will lose potential new customers. I don't think this is the plan so I would expect to get all info within a week.

I can agree with that. I think its imperative to get concrete release date, specs, price before the Incredible can get a bunch of potential customers.

If we all know this you better believe Sprint knows it. Verizon yesterday launched a shot across the bow, lets see how Sprint responds.

I agree, I'm actually currently a sprint customer and just don't want to wait any longer so if sprint doesn't have any exact dates for the EVO or Nexus One by the 29th, I'll probably be picking up the Increadible then.

You can't be serious??????

You can't be serious??????

Yap 100% serious, but I do have 2 lines so will probably move one over to verizon and get the increadible, but I was originally planning to get a Nexus One on one line and Evo on the other as they are both eligible for upgrades.
