Official Jelly Bean Upgrade

Don't know if anybody has seen it yet but there's an official Jelly Bean upgrade for our Boost models. It was released March 29th and you can get to it from HERE. I know what I'm doing when I get off work tonight. :D

Agreed, there is no real need to do GC01 if you are on GB27. The only difference is the bloatware it comes with that many of us delete anyways.

Yeah, but after my last rooted phone took a dive during a firmware update I've decided to play it safe... for a little while anyway. :P
 
I went ahead and jumped (latterly) from GB to GC. Used the one click found in the "all things rooted" section of the forum. Wasn't going to do it but figured why not...i get bored sometimes.. :) Actually, think the GB runs a little better, faster and less battery usage but that is probably just my feelings rather then true reality. Definitely better then ICS (imho).
 
I think this runs pretty smooth. I have one problem though and was wondering if anyone else has experienced it... sometimes gapps force closes. Has happened twice since upgrade. I did the upgrade via keis as instructed, everything went smooth. Prior to that I was rooted running CM 10.1 and the JellyBam (which was a BEAST except that wifi wouldn't work). Anyone else have this issue or any ideas?

I also have Agats GC01 to flash, wondering if anyone else has tried it yet?
 
I have been running GB27 and decided to stay on it since it is the same except for the bloat on it.

ChickenMonkee: Yeah a few of us have. I am on the GB27 one which is essentially the same thing. We have a thread for the JB kernels with recovery in the all things root section. Did you go to stock before you put in the GC01 or straight from CM?

Yeah, did the X2 wipe then flashed the FI22 ICS STOCK KERNEL NOCWM with Odin. Updated the OTA with phone then Kies for the GC01
 
I am happy with the stock GB27 and only have made a couple changes (enabled the menu option to turn of camera shutter sound and the tilt effect on the home screen).
 
I upgraded to this 4.1 yesterday thru the link above....i like 4.1 but my phone has slowed down since then :(
i thought 4.1 was faster than 4.0 :(
did anyone else notice it?
 
I think you're the only person (from what I've read) is experiencing slow-downs on 4.1.2
Have you tried to free some memory using the built in task manager?
 
yes many times. restarted a few times as well. :(
every app takes a few seconds to open. before it was much faster. everything is slower to respond, sometimes....i imagine i have pressed the bottun (i mean the virtual buttons) cuz it takes so long to respond :(
 
Did you do a full restore or an upgrade and are using some tweak app that is not meant for JB? Like HiredxGunz said, I think you are the only one reporting a slow down.

Hey chickenmonkee, May I ask after you flashed the fi22nocwm with Odin...Did you still have root and it let you do the ota? Reason I ask is I have read that the ota will not download if your rooted?If you would let me know I would appreciate it.. thanks
 
Apps optimized by the system does not mean that the apps are meant for JB. When I upgrade if not doing a full clean install, I do uninstall any apps meant to adjust and tweak performance and battery first. That is the only way to get an idea of true baseline performance. I then proceed to adjust and install performance apps from there.
 
ok...i will factory reset then....do u know any app...which will store the names of all my current apps and will install them one by one after factory reset? :)
i hate installing all the apps again myself after reset.

will titanium backup install the latest versions of the apps?
Will i need to be rooted to use titanium backup?

Yes, TB needs root. No It backups up the current version of your app (best to set up to backup to external SD). then you can use TB to restore on an app by app basis. If you choose not to use TB, remember that Google Play remembers any app you had (esp paid ones) so you could download and install the newest versions that way (I would be on WiFi to do that).
