Definition for prl: The Preferred Roaming List, basically a way of telling your phone which towers to connect to first.
The PRL helps determine which home-network towers to use, and also which towers belonging to other networks to use in roaming situations (areas where the home network has no coverage.) When roaming, the PRL may instruct the phone to use the network with the best roaming rate for the carrier, rather than the one with the strongest signal at the moment.

Since a PRL tells the phone "where" to search for a signal, as carrier networks change over time, an updated PRL may be required for a phone to "see" all of the coverage that it should, both with the home network and for roaming.

Your PRL can be update via your phone by dialing *228 and choosing option #5(preferred roaming list).

(Guide) How to update PRL

Question. I tried updating prl in qpst. I got the code from White rabbit. No problem there. But when trying to read from phone it says "unknown base model, please select one". So I clicked one of them for testing. It read fine. I loaded up the 3033.prl and it said it was empty and it tried writing to phone and gave me an error saying Phone is unreadable and my reception came up with an "X". Scared the crap out of me. Had to reboot then worked fine but under about phone it still shows 3032.. and clues?

Mine came with the 3033 but, Before I knew that I dialed *228 in Detroit Metro area and was informed by auto teller that that service is unavailable in my area. WOW.....

Click on it, then press ok.

It gives me four or five different models which none of them I recognize. I tried one and it failed to write and my Phone acted Hella weird. I don't want to damage it. That's why I'm asking. LoL :p

What was the error?

It really doesn't give me an error. When I connect it and put the spc code and tell it to read the phone it pops up unknown base model please select one. After I select one it reads but it won't write saying incorrect base. Then my phone goes all screwy.

I say the even better question is why don't the Spirits get 3033 from the *228 thingie?

Bruce in Ocala, FL-kicks the damn mic stand off the stage :smokingsomb:

They might've released it too early and it had some problems somewhere but let it slip through to some phones

I just used *228 on my phone (Spirit) and brother's Connect, both now have 3035, do any of you guys have this one as well? I'm in northern california by the way.

I'm thinking of jumping on 3035, but if it doesn't work, I don't see an easy way of going back to 3032 which is what I have now. lol

My guess is if you don't hop on 3035 soon you may have to go to a metro store to get it updated

Edit: well it depends on your market
