Best method to root

Doc

Android Expert
Just ordered a GS2 today and have been reading the forums here for the best way to get it rooted, I see there's a lot here and was wondering which way is the best, not really interested in a custom rom for now till I get use to it, just want superuser so I can delete bloatware, not new to rooting, just wanted to see which was the easiest. Thanks in advance.......:D

If you want root with SU, then try this (framaroot) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2130276 read the article and download and install the file http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1862974&d=1365270681

This what I used and it worked great. Also yes it worked for both FL24 and GC01. I used it when I was on Gingerbread (FL24)and after I upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich (GC01).

FL24 is ICS and GC01 is Jelly Bean. The Boost S2 never came with Gingerbread.

I have read about these one-click-root software out there, does those seem to work on the GS2 ok or is that something I should stay clear off and thanks again for the help.......

The framaroot app should work for any of the ICS ROMs for rooting. If you are looking to go to the official Jelly Bean then you could just flash the rooted version of GC01. there is a One click install of that available.

MODEL NUMBER: GT-I9100

ANDROID VERSION: 4.0.4

BASEBAND VERSION: I9100BVLPE

KERNEL VERSION: 3.0.15-1187368DPI@DELL228#3

BUILD NUMBER: IMM76D.BVLPJ

if any one could help that would be great..... thanks

If you use Framaroot ( can be found http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2130276 ) which I think is the easiest method to root without a computer, use the last option (Aragorn) exploit. I have tested my self and works on (GCO1). For (ICS) you can use the second option (Frodo) exploit. If you want to Unroot your device there is an option on Framaroot to unroot your device as well .

So far only the Agat's v0.1.0 kernel works correctly for GC01 - then again source hasn't even been available for an entire month.

Which android build are you asking about?

Well just rooting and keeping the stock rom, wouldn't mine if I could OC it also if that's possible...... :D

Congratulations on doubling your RAM ;)

Well cool lol, just want to make sure Im doing this correctly, as stated before not new to rooting or custom roms or Odin, but I see were peeps have made some mistakes(wrong versions) and I dont want to do the same, anyhelp would be great and thanks everyone for all the feed back.......:D

I guess my questiion is, which of all the links seen here is going to give me root, stock rom, ICS for now(if JB is stable would go for that) and OC. Would like to do the customs roms, but I want to make myself little more familiar with root, CWM and OC'ing on the GSII. With the Warp its extremely easy to put a custom rom on in CWM or TWRP but this is different and want this to go smoothly lol.

Thanks again for everyones input here, its been extremely helpful.......:D
