For your FYI. I just talked to CS at Verizon. You will not be able to pre-order the phone thru them. You have to do it online. It is only for new 2 year contracts. To just pre-order to purchase or upgrade you have to wait till the the 29th when the phone is available. I was one the phone for a half hour asking if I could call a pre-order as a upgrade and pay the one year price and he said no not until the 29th. So, he also said they have added more to there stock, because the demand seems to be large for this phone.

Thanks for the info. I'm thinking that only the insanely addicted would pre-order this phone, and they (we) wouldn't mind the two year contract. Anyway, as primary line, I get an upgrade at the NE2 every year, so it doesn't matter to me.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but someone posted Best Buy's TOS and I believe it said you CANNOT switch the phone to another line within 180 days of sale or you forfeit the discount and they charge it back to you on your CC. So if this is correct, you CANNOT use another line for the upgrade through Best Buy stores and do the line switching, but can do it if you order it directly from Verizon via Store, online, or CSR telesales.

Am I correct here? This is all so confusing, I feel like a tax lawyer trying to understand all the nitches of this stuff.

You can do this at BB on a family share plan same as at verizon. They will set it up for you in the store. I think what the 180 days thing may be for is if you switch the phone to another account like if you have a friend who wants a phone on their plan and you get for them on yours and then give them the phone.

I really have to sit and look at everything. I have been due for my NE2 for a couple months now trying to decide what I want to do. Am i going to snap up the Incredible for 99 with my discount or wait for the EVO?!?!?!? Decisions decisions.........Both sound great i'm just worried a little about the size of the Evo since I haven't been able to see one (or an HD2) in person yet.

Shopped!!! lol, actually in many ways it is, because it's an internal training CBT so we'll cut them some slack.

Did anyone notice the total phone space at .92GB? And the available was like .89GB?

Does that mean the phone has 1GB of phone memory or is that added to the internal phone storage to get to the 8GBs?

Good morning all. Nothing earth-shattering here, and sorry of this has been discussed (I didn't see it if it was), but I figured that I'd share an interesting article I came across entitled "Incredible Droid; Iphone's Worst Nightmare?" It discusses the Droid Incredible, but more generally, it discusses the Android vs. Apple debate with a focus on open source(Android) vs. closed source (Apple).

Here's the link:Incredible Droid; iPhone's Worst Nightmare? | Katonda

Pricing Question..If I use my NE2 and order online through vzw will my price be $149 and no rebate?

Phone Cost 199 on two year deal minus my NE2 $50 off. Online I believe is instant no rebate to mail in. Is this correct ..Thanks

Just my experience in the past when I ordered my LG Dare via CSR.

I got her to make the rebate instant. Then low and behold when I got my phone, there was a rebate sheet inside. Took a chance and filled it out, sent it in. 4 weeks later, $50 check.

Breaking down the price:

$199 (2 year) - $50 NE2 - $50 Instant Rebate - $50 MIR = $50 LG Dare.

YMMV though....

Thank you. I guess I can only hope that swype goes into full release then, asap. :(

ya- me too. ShapreWriter is free and I put it on my bf's Droid over the weekend....meh. It works and is pretty cool, but the interface is pretty meh (thumbs down). The keyboard on the landscape screen is super narrow and doesn't go across the whole screen so that sucks. The keyboard on portrait mode is ok as well, they make their logo a bit too big for my taste. Not sure how the other one works.

Haven't tried the free version of SlideIT (SlideIT lite) but I assume these type of apps work pretty much the same.

If your buy online are you able to take phone into a verizon store to have contacts transferred. thanks

I'm pretty sure you can, and I also think they'll charge you a small fee. If you're like me and have been using dumbphones until the incredible, you can use verizon's free Backup Assistant application (free if you also have your MyVerizon account active, which you probably do since you're thinking about buying online). This application backs up all your contacts on a regular version and sends them to the internet. You can edit your contacts online and all that. And if your contacts get erased from your phone, you can always retrieve them with the app. When I get a new phone, I just install the Backup assistant and retrieve my contacts. In fact, last time I went to the VZW store to exchange a phone, that's what they did to transfer my contacts!

I don't know if that application is available for smartphones, or if the contacts even work the same way. But I'm sure there is some android app that will basically do the same thing. Anyone know about Backup assistant in android?

Want TV Out? Yea, we got that!

You want other stuff?? We probably have that too...stay tuned.

So if I'm buying the phone without a contract, I can't pre-order it?

Hmm, the Best Buy pre-sale is looking pretty appealing all of a sudden.

I got my hands on a HD2 dummy and it honestly was too big for comfort...at least from what I am used to. I would have to buy some really big jeans to make room for that thing.

No disrespect, but I was hoping for more than a 'I think'. See below's highlight. What's the definition of "Verizon Wireless Line of Service'? It doesn't say if it's within the same account or different account, hence the grey area, hence why I'm asking.

If you read Best Buy's second contract you sign with them you will not like it. Do not buy from them.

DEACTIVATING THIS PHONE OR DOWNGRADING FEATURES OR RATE PLAN MAY LEAD TO ADDITIONAL CHARGES
Our goal is to provide you with the very best purchasing experience possible, including huge savings vs. buying in a retail store. Your wireless device purchase price was reduced by an Equipment Discount of $200 ($300 for PDA's and smart phones; $300 for Netbooks). By accepting this price reduction, you agree to repay this discount if, during the 181 days after your new equipment is activated, you:
Fail to pay your balance due to Verizon Wireless each month
Disconnect this Verizon Wireless line of service
Transfer this equipment to another Verizon Wireless line of service
Change your Verizon Wireless service rate plan to a lower monthly service rate
Deactivate the email/data feature if one was required at the point of purchase
Transfer/port an existing mobile number from another Verizon Wireless account if this is a new line of service
Replace an existing account with Verizon Wireless with this account if this is a new line
Return your equipment for a refund or exchange and it is not in its original, new condition or it is not returned within the 30-day return period outlined in our 100% Satisfaction Guarantee.
If you break any of these contract provisions, except as a result of a documented service quality issue related to the carrier service, you authorize us to charge your credit card in repayment of the Equipment Discount.

Any Best Buy EXPERTS care to clarify?

I've got to say, I don't understand how the whole idea of walking out of a Best Buy with an Incredible in hand on the 19th gained any steam at all. Is'nt it very well established that these phones aren't even being shipped yet? I'm pretty sure the stores will be recieving them on the 25th and even with that they are supposed to be really heavily locked down until release day. So unless you get lucky and happy to get someone incompetant enough to sell you something on lockdown, you're just going to have to wait with the rest of the country for it to come out on the 29th.

That's alright though. Come May, this whole waiting game will just be a happy little memory, right? I know I'll look back on it fondly, regardless of how torturous it was. :)

It was the 18th. It was late last night and someone pointed out that the BB website said Pre-Sale not Pre-Order and that you could not order online so the ball got rolling. I was thinking I was walking out with one this Sunday as there is a BB Mobile less then 5 minutes from my house but I called today and they said $50 deposit to get it when they come in. I am still going to try it as they have the phone in their Sunday the 25th weekly ad.

I just talked to my Verizon guy...the one who told me that the phone would be in my hands by the end of april. He told me this last month and i passed it on to you guys...and like everyone else i got a lot of crap about it.

Anyway..ihe said that ALL the VW people knew about this ahead of time....and so i just want to stand up and say...

BRAVO....great job in playing dumb guys:D:D:D

It would be cool if wireless bluetooth controller could be used- could use the Inc as a game system, too. Heck, if the usb had host function, we could use a game pad  I wish :)

I can at least hope :)

Well they may have had information related to it, but since 90% of Verizon reps don't do their job properly they didn't know about it.

That's what i'm worried about too and the nearest tmobile to take a look at it is half an hour away. lol Looks like i might need to take a short road trip and check em out.

Ok all ....since I've been put in this mode of waiting for something amazing, I'm going to wait for this too. I've read somewhere on the internets that it's being released at the beginning of May.
YouTube - CES 2010: Hands on with the JayBird BlueBuds

and here's a good question: for the radio to work do we need wired headphones/headset?? or will a bluetooth headset work? (maybe there is wired in the actual headset to act as antenna?)

Here's another email from a Verizon CSR.

Thank you for contacting our Verizon Wireless website. My name is A****n and I will be happy to answer your questions as you have labeled below. I see that you have a high interest in the Incredible device. Having a device with Android technology takes using your wireless phone to new heights. I have reviewed your account and provided you with details below.

I have listed your questions along with the answers below:

1. Will I be able to pre-order the Incredible online at 12:01 AM on Monday
the 19th?

Right now the Droid has the same price plan as the soon to be released incredible and i can get that phone with all the rebates for 99.00. I just hope I can do the same when i pre-order the incredible.

Answer- Droid Incredible by HTC will be available for pre-order online at www.verizonwireless.com beginning on April 19; therefore, you should be able to log in online at 12:01 am to pre-order the device.

2. I'm told the price is $299.00 minus the $100.00 discount (paid in the form of a debit card) bringing the price down to $199.00.

Answer- Regretfully, I do not have the pricing for this device as I do not want to set an expectation that is not correct. The pricing will be available on April 19.

3. If I purchase online the online discount of $100.00 is taken automatically (no debit card) and it brings the price down to $199.00.?

Answer- If the phone has an online rebate, you will receive the online discount that applies provided you order online.

4. Since I have NE2 (plan expired in March) does that mean that I get to take the 100.00 off of that, which would bring the cost down to $99.00?

Answer- You do have the New Every Two, which gives you an additional credit of $100.00 off the two -year promotional price of the phone. You will also receive any online discounts that may apply if you order the device online.

5. When I sign into My Verizon do I just go to UPGRADE MY PHONE or is there somewhere else I have to go to pre-order and get all my discounts?

Answer- you may visit www.verizonwireless.com to pre-order the phone. Since this phone will not be in the line up of new phones, you do not need to select Upgrade My Phone." The online department will process the order for you.

OK.. I know we've seen screen shots from Costo's inventory system. However, when are they going to have it in stock and available for purchase? Also, on the 29th? I love Costco so much that I wish that I could marry it! lol

I too am curious about this. Typically they give a nice accessory bundle with the purchase of a new phone.

Anon-- I'm just the resident court Jester wannabe - - a lurker who only chimes in on irrelevant items - - But I definitely want to thank you.
