Hey all! I am so pumped for Incredible. I am have been wtahcing these forums and every cel phone news atoulet wiaiting for some official information!!

I just got a Droid on 4/2, so I will be within the 30 day time period to get the Incredible. I plan on returning the Droid and signing up for the pre-order next week. Is there anyway to get out of the $35 re-stocking fee? I saw on the Official VZW Return Policy that you have to pay the $35 fee if you return your phone and within 3 days get another phone. I as hoping to return my Droid on 4/25 so when the Incredible comes out on 4/29 I can maybe avoid the fee.

Is this true? Does anyone have an experience in this area?

Thanks all!

ok FWIW I just talked to a very nice girl at my local Best Buy (Cascade Station in Portland) and asked about pre-orders and when we can pick up. Preorders on the 18th as we all know ...but she said she doesn't have any official info yet on when we can pick up (if they will get it on the 21st/25th and release maybe earlier than 29th). She said they are supposed to update their internal site into tomorrow (around noon usually I guess) and she will know for sure then. SOOO ya the end.

Would the tv out work without the cables via bluetooth if your tv had bluetooth built in? I don't even know if TVs have that yet. Just a thought.

:confused:Possibly:confused: I don't know what the max data transmission rate is via bluetooth, but my guess is the problem would be pushing that amount of data over a bluetooth pairing. For something like High-def wireless video streaming, you really need a wireless n network, if my understanding is correct.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

I've been waiting for the HTC Incredible with great anticipation for the past couple of months. One feature that I'm hoping it'll have is Blue Tooth Voice dial, which other android based phones do not have (except the Motorola Devour).

I'm so disappointed this morning to learn directly from HTC Customer Support that the HTC Incredible does not have Bluetooth Voicedial capability. According to HTC, this is because Google's Android OS does not support it. Ugh!!!!

Ok guys... hear me out OK?

RE: Pre-Ordering via BestBuy on the 18th. Who cares?

What does this buy you? Nothing. You preorder the phone on the 18th, you can go pick it up at 10am on the 29th, it's guaranteed, cool. The only benefits you get with BestBuy is that you do not have to mail in a rebate (that may be good enough reason for some of you).

RE: Pre-Ordering via Verizon.

This is the way to go for folks who aren't in a "rush" to get it, you pre-order, it comes to your door some time on the 29th. Could be 6pm or 7pm, or could be 8am. Maybe your un out to pick up some milk and they attempt to deliver it to you but you arent there to sign it. Now you have to wait ANOTHER day! haha. Bottom line is that people who are in this thread do not want to wait that long to get their hands on this baby. Other than that...what if your spanking new, shiny phone has a dead-pixel, or a loose battery? You have to work thru Verizon online to sort that out, new shipments may be delayed, it could take you a few weeks before you have your pristine new Incredible. Pass.

RE: Getting the phone as SOON as it's available!

Personally, I want this phone the second it is released. This means you do NOT pre-order the device from anywhere, BB or Verizon. Due to the minimal advertising related to this phone, it's not going to be as popular as the BlackBerry Storm was on release date or something hyped as much as that. The Droid was hyped to all hell, I didn't even originally want it...went to Verizon around 6pm to check it out the day it was released and picked it up, they had PLENTY in stock.

So, head to your local Verizon, or Kiosk about an hour early (to make sure you beat the few gadget freaks you might be competing with). Pick up the phone as soon as the doors open, examine your phone...if there is any issues, dead pixel, loose screen, etc...ask for another. (let's be honest, there will be many threads with day 1 issues, do you want to be one of those upset that their phone isn't all they dreamed of) Then, head home happy that you were the first to get the Incredible and spend the rest of the day in dorky, gadgety bliss modifying each setting and tooling around with the coolest phone Verizon ever saw.

Lastly, you always have the option of trying to find the phone before the street date, if you pre-order, that is not a possibility. Ya never know if this thing leaks a few days early, not pre-ordering lets you have the ability to get this ahead of time!

This is my thought process regarding purchasing your Incredible, take it for what it's worth. Bottom line is that I will have mine 8:03am on the 29th. (or sooner).

I agree with you, though I'm pretty sure you can do returns at a local Verizon. In my case, I have the family plan where my line (primary) is eligible for early discounts, but the second line (wife) is not. I'm probably going to the Verizon store specifically to see if I can work something out on a new droid for my wife. It may not fly, but Managers can work wonders. Maybe get her a discounted\free Eris to unload his inventory - you never know.

What does the replacement battery cover look like for the extended battery?
More ridges?

Probably the same lines, but making the overall thickness a tad more.

Is there any way to turn off data so when I travel internationally, I wont get hit with huge roaming bills for data usage?

Airport mode.

Is the screen on the droid incredible glass or plastic?

Probably a high tempered glass (or plastic :D ).

When people are saying go to a Verizon store at opening time on the 29th, are we referring to the Verizon corporate stores or will we also be able to go to a VZW authorized cell phone dealer?

Probably both, though Corporate stores will probably have a higher in stock percentage than authorized retailers. To prevent running around, go to the Corporate stores (or make some phone calls to your local Authorized Retailer and ask).

Where is the best place to read about learning how to root a phone?

Yes, good question, inquiring minds want to know. :)

Go back to an old phone for at least three days and no charge.

Agreed, but in due time I'm sure.

I believe the Motorola Devour supports it and it runs on the Android OS, but it works through an app that comes with the Devour not sure if it's available on the Android Marketplace.

Look on the bright side - it's a software issue, not hardware. Just like the HD video feature, it's entirely possible that Google could add this functionality OTA down the road.

Verizon Plan Question. 2 line(dumb phones) Family Plan with elig to get new 2yr plan. I get htc incredible and other line keeps current phone. 2 months latr i break incred, can i get alternate upgrade with other line but only keep paying one data plan per my family plan?

I really want to avoid gettn insurance for the incredible

I have been in this thread since the start. I was even over in the other forum when this thing was being called the Passion and we were all drooling over it. Since then we have learned a lot, my girlfriend who works at Verizon has learned very little, though.

Yesterday I went and met her on her lunch break. She was so excited to see me, because she wanted to tell me all about how everyone at the call center was talking about the Incredible. I had been offering up the newest info that I was able to get from here and hoping that maybe if she saw or heard something that she'd tell me. Well, they have heard plenty. The call center employees got emails on LTE and the Incredible. We were dealing with visitation and a funeral early in the week, so this information could have surfaces on Wednesday.

The call center is buzzing over this phone, yet I somehow still seem to know more. She does have a train schedule for today (Friday), but she isn't sure that it's about the Incredible at all. She had one yesterday on an information system that they use and all of the changes that are going to be taking place with it in the near future.

I know, I know, we have all sorts of confirmed stuff and we have specs and everything else, but now the Verizon employees know it exists and they all think it's the coolest thing ever. I doubt I can preorder it on an employee line, but I'll have it pretty quickly. My girlfriend, who has the Droid, is now jealous though. LOL.

As soon as she gets an official training, I will obviously update. I've got a buddy over in data at the call center as well, I'll be seeing him this weekend. He might have tasty morsels of goodness about the phone, too. But I think we probably know more than most Verizon employees.

I'm just concerned about amoled in sun light. I have no experience with that kind of screen. I have just see on some forums complaints about not being able to see it very well in the sun. Does anyone have some input on this? I would really like to know

I was concerned about this too but then I thought a bit. I have a Iphone and have had one for about 3 years. I keep the screen really dim to help extend the battery. Its dim enough that in sunlight you can barely see it.

So I thought about the times where I couldn't see it screen because I had the phone out in direct sunlight and came up with about 5 times in 3 years. Maybe I'm unique but after that thought the screen didn't seem like a big issue anymore.

Similar technology is certainly out there... Push2TV

I don't think this is quite what Kappy was talking about. He was asking about BT in particular and what you posted is still reliant on Wifi. Video pushing via Wifi would be great, but I don't think it will be a reality on the Incredible for two main reasons:

1. They want to sell AV cables. Wireless transmission = no need for AV cables.

2. The Incredible only has b/g wireless. If you notice, on the bottom of the page you posted they are selling wireless n routers. To my knowledge, you really need wireless n to be able to stream full 720p over wifi simply because of the huge amount of data being transmitted.

Just my $.02

I don't think so... too easy to abuse.

How? And do you lose anything? What about 1yr contract price instead of 2yr?

When I sign into MyVerizon it says I am eligible.. but that was before the new upgrade to the website. Now I have no idea where it went. Try contacting Verizon, I did and they walked me through where to upgrade was..

Edit go into phone details, upgrade now.. but no idea how it will work with pre-order

Well for me the screen in every way wins on the Evo. First just because technology says something is better it doesn't mean it is so. I have held both a HD2 and a Nexus One and I would take the HD2 screen over the Nexus one any time. Its much better overal viewing plus the screen size is just amazing. I have no problems with sprint as a network provider so everything is saying Evo I just don't know that I want to wait another 2 months.

The Evo is a nice phone, I doubt anybody will say otherwise. I'm more concerned with Sprints 4G service. They seem 100% committed to it when they talk about it but the things they are doing behind the scenes seem to indicate they are rethinking going WIMAX and looking at LTE further. I think being the only WIMAX carrier in the USA has them a bit nervous.

I'd almost bet they won't let you move the data plan to the other line...
