1. Yes
2. No someone posted they only do 2yr contracts
3. No but after you buy you can call VZW and add it.

1. You will have your regular voice mail (not visual) that VZW offers on all phones for free where it gives you a notification and you call in to listen.
2. Voice Mail as stated in #1 is part of the carrier.
3. Standard Voice Mail is where you call in. Visual Voice Mail is an app and the voice mail is downloaded to your phone where you can listen.
4. VZW charges 2.99 a month for Visual Voice Mail.

Thanks!

I'm 90% sure I have Visual Voice Mail on my Hero - When I open the voice mail application, I get a list of phone # and when I tap one I hear the voice mail. I also get options to delete, foreward, text message, reply, and lock the voice mail . I guess I just have to eat 1 less hambuger a month.:D

One more question - How do you find out if you can get a company discount and how do you apply it?

People — stop apologizing for asking a question that may have already been asked. Just start a new topic in the appropriate forum. (Verizon is a separate forum. Android is a separate forum. There's even one for BB converts.) That way, if someone has the question later, they can find it too and not have another repeat message.

And stop telling people to go search 5 pages back. It's a jungle in there. Let's start using a forum the way it works best instead of this ridiculous giant thread that no one can use. This one thread was fun while it lasted, but it's time to start focusing on how awesome the phone will be and getting people's questions asked.

:) Let's do this right!

Go to this link and enter in your work email address:

Hmm maybe I am confused.. my NE2 date is 9/30/10.. but if I go into "Upgrade Now", even though it says "If you prefer, you can upgrade today at full retail price" I am still allowed to get all the listed phones at the new contract price, not retail, for example.. the Droid is $200, Storm 2 is $100...

full retail would be with no discounts so that is weird. I didn't go that far orginally I just saw "Full Retail" and said crap that's like $599.

Just went through to the phones and there are no discounts for me at all so consider yourself lucky.

Must be your current plans price, im on a BB plan of $99/month..

Same here. I can have a camera phone at work but I will try to charge the phone first before playing with it. Will be tough but want to follow the guide on this one since it is my first smart phone. :D

I will be destroying my battery by playing with the phone while it charges :P

If I notice a drop in it after a year I'll just buy a new battery :(

For those who returned phones this month under the 30 day plan...i would suggest double checking your eligibility status to upgrade...

That's what a Rep told me when I called them about an hr ago...

I'm returning my Eris Monday, waiting a few days to make sure my $50 NE2 credit is there (and avoiding the restocking fee?), then I will order it when I get a chance that weekend. :D

BTW, I really fear the battery life on this thing after using the Eris. I almost wish they would just upgrde the Eris to 2.1 so I could save $120, but that's just my logical side thinking. Give me the Incredible!

You're not alone...i've been waiting for this phone since the night of the superbowl when i first saw the first ever video of it. No way I'm going to let it charge up before i use it. lol

If you charge your battery every night and get a full year out of your battery not showing degradation in performance (not holding a charge as long as it use to) I'd be shocked.

I apologize if this has already been answered, but I'm just a mere mortal trying to keep up with this thread!

As the recent article on Phandroid announced, 720p recording doesn't appear to be a stock feature. However, last I heard (before those pics were posted) it was rumored that 720p recording was still possible (maybe needs root to be unlocked). I think it was NTK who kept insisting that it would be part of the Incredible.

Has this changed or are people still thinking that 720p recording is possible after some rooting work is done?

look 1 or 2 pages back.

Thanks, the answer I was looking for was about 3 pages back. Here it is for those who missed it.

It may not be the news you were hoping for, but it is confirmation that there is no 720p recording...yet ;)

I would look for this to be added in a near-term post-launch update.

Furthermore, for those of us in the root/ROM community, i would look for this to be enabled with the first batch of custom ROMs.

depends on what you consider "degradation". My sch-760i battery still gets probably 85-90% of its "new" life, its about 1-1/2 years old, and I charge it every night...

Thanks!

Re: Discount - - I think you can just call 611 on your phone and ask the rep if you get a discount. I know our organization offers one - - 22%!!! - - And when those of us WITH VZW already wanted it, we just called and they added us to the plan over the phone w/ some details...

It seems like the best way to figure out what you should do in this situation, is to see how more more you'd have to spend on a higher plan, and then see if it's worth it compared to the extra $50 for the NE2.
If you'd have to spend $40 more on your plan to get the extra $50 on the NE2, then I don't know if it's really worth the hassle for a net difference of $10 - however, if you only had to spend an extra $10 on the plan to get the $50, might be worth it to you.... :)

That makes sense, but just adding the unlimited data package back on (which I'll need with the Incredible anyways) should put me back over that line and give me the extra $50. I figure if I tack that unlimited data back on BEFORE ordering the Incredible maybe the NE2 will change back to $100.

I've had my phone for 20 months (just became eligible to upgrade this week). And the battery is completely useless by now. If I pull it off the charger it dies within 5 minutes. If I actually make a call I get less then 60 seconds before it dies.

On the plus side, it will fully charge from dead in about 2 minutes. :)

I hope that's true. I'll be doing the same thing.

Hey there. I owned a Sprint Hero and a Motorola Droid, so I know both company's approaches to visual voicemail.

The visual voicemail app on the Hero was made by Sprint, and they toss in the service for free. The visual voicemail app on Verizon was made by verizon, but they charge 2.99 a month for it. So, if you're looking for simplicity, paying the 3 bucks would get you essentially what you had on the Hero.

However, if you can get a Google Voice invite, you can setup call forwarding. In this case, if you do not answer your cell phone, verizon will forward the call to your Google Voice inbox, rather than their voicemail server. Then, you can get the Google Voice app for free from the market and set it up to notify you when that inbox has a message. This option is the free way to get viz voicemail on VZW. (lots of Vs there.)

Just thought I'd FULLY explain your options.

Cheers.

on the eris, did you look at the battery thread and check your down time battery usage? when i first got my eris it would not make it past 8 hours....but after deleting a couple of things and changing some settings i could easily make it thru 36 hours.

It will be fine grasshopper....these are intense phones...it takes some juice to get them rolling:D

VZW is a CDMA network, so if you're planning on dropping in a SIM card from an international GSM carrier, it's not going to happen.

Could you use some sort of VOIP through the wifi capability overseas? It's not perfect, but allows you to make calls, not sure if you will be able to receive calls though, never tried it before.

Someone correct me if i'm wrong but won't this phone have access to skype mobile? If so... problem solved.
