Well, I at least know mine isn't "supposed?" to be coming till the "first week in May" since mine is the telus version. But I won't start getting hopeful until the very LAST day of the first week in May... just in case.

The one bad thing about it taking so long for HTC is, if there ARE any problems with the update, even really tiny ones, we will go off our heads with Rage.

I just wish HTC would make an official statement on this. The not knowing is driving people bonkers, and pushing desperate people into rooting their devices.
I was SOOO tempted earlier, knowing that 2.1 is unknown again. (The only thing that put me off, is the complexity of the Goldcard method, which is what I need to root my G2Touch)

My point for not rooting either, i made myself a goldcard, but then what? the tutorial ended there with no indication on what to do next.
My philosophy is.....I'm happy with my 1.5 Hero now. If I'd been so unhappy with the lack of 2.1, I'd never have gone for the Hero.
When 2.1 finally arrives, I'll be even happier. If it's still not here within the next couple of months, I'll just root to whatever is the best current version available and live with it. No drama.

Everything I use my Hero for works... it's still 1000000000000 times better than ANY other phone I have owned. 2.1 is the icing on the cake, but I like my cake without icing too.

Is hero 2.1 getting turn by turn navigation?

I got sick of wiating yesterday and installed the latest ROM from over at XDA Deleopers:

There is no sense obviously it's not the end of the world.
The market is vastly improved.
Some of the live wallpapers work they are pretty cool, I don't think the Hero can handle some of the more Processor Hungry Ones.
It seems pretty stable up to now.
I do miss HTC's polishing: Dialler, People Widgets, Facebook Integration.
Its worth having a play with it as it will be at least 2-3 weeks before we see Official 2.1 on the Hero.
The Grass is the live Wallpaper it just flows about with the wind pretty sweet...

I've had 3 different ROMS on since that post i'm currently using the Sense Hero 2.1 by Stickman.
It is brilliant, his servers crashed today from too much traffic.
Really good ROM give it a blast...

Have a look around the last page he did have this hosted on his own site but high traffic crashed his domain today.
He is in the process of moving it to another host. He is integrating am update into a re release of this Rom so it should be on shortly. I wasn't keep on the font used for the Rom so I changed it myself.
It's looking awesome at the moment.
I'd wait for the updated Rom which should be on shortly.
It will be well worth the wait.
I know the link states 1.6 like I said, he did have 2.1 on his own page so everyone is being kept updated here.
