It was once explained to me this way...." If you get the iphone, you're a geek......if you get the Incredible,.....you're a bad ass."....Enough said.

I wish my wife understood this!!! She really wants to try and hold out for the new iphone. We had the original when it came out, sold it right before gen 2 came out, and then decided it wasnt worth the $60 a month more for 2 smartphones and have been hating our dumb sony walkman phones ever since. We finally cannot take it anymore. Her phone is on it's very last leg, and mine just isn't a smartphone :). I'm tired of apple OS and the promise that the phone is going to be amazing. I'm guessing it has a better processor, and maybe a little sleeker look and upgraded 5 mp camera....can't imagine much more than that.

She's considering buying her incredible off contract, so if she wants to jump back to AT&T to get the iphone it's no big deal, i'd rather just get them both on contract and stick with Verizon and hope the iPhone comes to verizon if she decides she wants it.....oh well...

Here's my Best Buy story...TIFWIW

I just called and asked if he could tell me anything about the Incredible. "No, not so much. What are you looking for? A release date?" I guess I should have let him keep talking to see just how much he knew. I told him I already had the release date and knew they were doing pre-orders on Sunday, but wanted to know what that meant. "Yeah, that's not 'till Sunday. You just come in, purchase a $50 gift card as your 'deposit' and then you'll be first to get a phone the day it's released (it's saved for you) and you use the $50 gift card towards the phone you want. Then, if anyone else comes in and wants it, it would only be by availability."

There ya go. A bit clueless, but also interesting to know more of the details of how it works.

Now I can feel like I contributed SOMEthing...even if it's not much. :)

wow i am actualy pi$$ed i wasted my gas going up there to talk to them in person even tho its 10 mins away...i was so excited on the way back home and couldnt wait to share with everyone the news i was told...sorry guys and gals

I'm not sure. Perhaps.

All I know is that this phone looks WAY better in the wild than it does in mockup pictures. It looks sick! Thank God we got these new pictures. That thing looks like a solid piece of steel to me. Couldn't be happier with how it turned out.
i am glad the ridges on the back seem to be very minimal!

how is the screen narrower then the n1 if they're the same screen size? is it me or does the phone look really small including the screen size? that's probably a good thing though since we know it's a 3.7 inch screen.

Oh, crud, Nash - those are like small pics comin' up, not the big ones that were at the original article.

I know. I said that in the original post. That's how they were emailed to me. jacobcrny, are they that small on your computer? There is a chance that the pictures got shrunken into thumbnails when he uploaded and emailed them to me.

My Best Buy story went well until we started talking contract terms. He said my local BB store would be taking pre-orders on the 18th but you either have to do a full buy out month to month or a 2 year contract, neither of which I am interested in. I told him I was looking for a 1 year deal and he said it is entirely out of the question, that they cannot and will not do it. Sucks because I have at least $150 worth of coupons I could use at BB plus my NE2.

Boo

you could save the pics to your computer, then go to tinypic.com and upload them there, then copy the forum url and post that...making the pictures much larger!

Tried to post a bunch of questions, but when I hit the send button, the site was down. I has a sad.

Anyway, I don't think these questions were asked before. If any of them were, sorry.

Here goes:

- I know that I can pre-order the phone at BB for $50. How much do I have to put down to pre-order with Verizon?

- If I pre-order the phone on the 19th, and then decide before the 29th that I don't want it anymore (doubt it!), can I get any of my down payment back?

- After I pre-order, how does Verizon get the rest of the money I owe them? I'm assuming I'd just see the difference tacked on to my next monthly bill, but I figured I'd ask.

- I put in for a corporate discount on that Verizon Wireless page someone posted (thanks for that!), but it said it could take 1-2 billing cycles for the discount to be applied. It's supposed to save me money on accessories too, and I'd really like to be able to buy my accessories WITH the phone on the 19th. Anybody know how long it usually takes Verizon to apply the discount? Does the discount also apply to my phone purchase *crosses fingers*?

- Speaking of accessories, two years ago, when I bought my LG Voyagers, the Verizon Wireless phone rep was more than happy to throw in a few accessories since I was buying two phones with two 2-year agreements at once. Anybody thinking of trying this? Anybody think it'll even work?

- Anyone else notice that something Anon posted (I think it was the launch package) mentioned that the phone comes with Speech-to-Text)? Last I read, that feature was sorely missing from Android phones with HTC Sense. If this is true, color me stoked.

Haha, I might want to take my statement about the ridges back now that I've seen the thumbnails from the article. I'll reserve judgement til I see 'em in person / bigger photos, tho.
guess i shouldn't get my hopes up...but even if they are bad, hopefully there will be a case that will smooth them out

You have no choice,.....you must LEAVE HER IMMEDIATELY!!!:D

Here's some bigger pics, I don't mean to claim these as my own. They came from Techland but I already cut most of the watermarks off. Never thought I'd need to post them. (Sorry TechLand)

You don't get it. The pictures were emailed to me THAT small. I don't have larger versions. And trust me, I know how to post a picture. Here, I'll post it with tinypic just to show you.

There. See? Still little.

the screen looks the same as the nexus one, not narrower? the trackpad looks fine also, same as on the desire? that wallpaper doesn't fit the phone makes it look weird. it probably will come with a droid eye blinking or something cool to match the color scheme (there's so many live wallpapers in the android market it doesn't matter just saying). i really hope the screen isn't more narrow then the nexus one because that one looks slightly narrow? and can we see reviews sunday now instead of monday since that's when pre-orders start?

Boo

I was told the same thing. No one year option. Can't pay additional $70.00 and get 1 year like you can at VZW.

:D I'm guessing the sense UI will completely remove all fears of android, not to mention I already have a list of apps I'm going to download to replace any we use on our iPod Touch!

On another note, anyone found out about when accessories will be available? My wife is notorious for dropping her cellphone or throwing it in the baby bag full of toys when we go out.... :D

Yeah. I'm with you on this one. I think we can go ahead and just disregard the part where they said that the screen was more narrow than the Nexus One. That's horse crap. It's the same size. 3.7" OLED 480x800 WVGA screen, minus the multi-touch bug that the Nexus One has/had. So, let's just move on and forget that they even wrote that. They must have just thought it looked more narrow because the phones are different and the Nexus is a wider phone with more rounded corners. Optical illusion. End. Of. Story.
